In four years, he'll come out and finish the job. Unbelievable. And people wonder why the world is the way it is. It's because terrorism is alive and well.....with no accountability. This kid should serve his entire 12 year sentence. He's a loose canon. Another whimpy judge.

There should be no plea bargain in this case and the student should go away for at least 25.

Why should he get 25 years, people who murder in this state get much less? I hope this kid gets the help he needs and is out in less than 4.

I'm glad to see there is still some compassion for a misguided young man as well as a sensible solution to public safety in this case.

Intensive therapy will do much more to make society safer than turning a distrubed teenager into a hardened, imbalanced, violent criminal in a prison system racked with gangs, rape and other violence. Let us all be thankful the young man did not succeed and hopeful about his monitoring and rehabilitation.

You're probably right. This kid is obviously sick in the head. How can someone be compassionate towards an individual who planned to harm so many people? The kid should be required to serve the 25.
I'm sure we will read about this individual once he gets out.

I know Frank and the last I heard he is not getting the counseling he needs to get back into society. While he is in prison, the state needs to address this issue concerning him and other inmates. With time served and good behavior, he will likely be out in less than two years. The state needs to start the counseling NOW and CONTINUE when Frank is out and on probation. I believe there is still time to save Frank.

Frank is not a bad kid. He does need counseling, which I can assure you does not happen in any depth in prison. If the Newington parents who responded see that he needs help, not the useless time spent incarcerated, maybe they know him better than the rest of us. Once again, the "justice" system has a decision to make -- don't blow it again.

Now that's the question we need to ask. Why is this happening? What has changed?

I went to Newington High when this happened. I did not feel threatened at all, and do not believe that anything would have happened. Obviously people don't remember what it was like being in high school. I don't think that someone so young should waste their best years in prison. If he had made the effort to act on it, that would be a different story, people shouldn't be punished for acts they didn't commit. And part of what is wrong with people these days, are the people who don't have a little compassion. Thats what breeds the hate.

No my kids were not on the list, but what I saw was a kid who needs help. If anything this has brought the town together and the kids in school are better because of it. What happened opened our eyes to alot of things that we were all in denial of happening. Maybe other towns should look at what is happening at their schools and around town. They would be suprised at what is really happening.

We do remember what it's like to be in high school. There weren't kids blowing up schools and shooting their classmates.

Nothing was acted on...you and the rest of the school is VERY LUCKY nothing was. Do you want to wait until a Columbine happens at the school before anything is done about it? Of course something should be done to this child. People should be punished for what they have planned on doing. My God he could have killed! He needs some serious serious help.

You're right, there is barely any compassion left in this world. There is also no personal responsibility either. Many of these kids are the way they are because they have been bullied to the point where they break. They have no where to go for help. Those that do the bullying are the ones who are "victims" when the kid breaks. So people tend to forget the "victims" may have not been victims in the first place, if people had stepped up and stopped the bullying before it got out of hand.

A problem with bullying? Nooooo. The legislature was Very Serious about bullying, and enacted the legislation drawn up by the pop group Peter, Paul and Mary, remember? Surely it couldn't have been bullying. And we gave Very Strict Laws on bringing Guns onto school grounds and a certain distance from school grounds. I don't remember exactly when that was enacted, but it was right before all the school shootings started.

So yeah, lets count on the government to do something about this. Yeeesh.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Aquarius

Money is a source of friction between you and friends now, so treat it with caution and respect. There could be a disagreement between you and a chum about a possession or a debt that one of you owes the other. If you're trying to organize a forthcoming social event, you could come unstuck when working out how much it's all going to cost because it might be far too expensive.
