My great grandfather was a coal miner and he raised my grandmother and mother in Vallscreek. My mother moved when she was pregnant with me because she wanted me to have a better life than she did. After watching that documentary I think that she did the right thing. I still have family that live there and they are really having a tough time finding jobs. I pray that someday they will rebuild and restore the lively hood in McDowell County. This was a great documentary!

Such as the new school, the koa camp, or any new businesses and etc. It is true, but it was like we hadn't made any progress in life, everyone in the county doesn't live in shacks or are druggies. There are good people here as well as elsewhere. But I suppose the film was about the poverty stricken,so what can I say?
