not all people who own pit bull dogs have vicious ones. some owners have these dogs as pets and that is exactly what they are. i had one for yrs and eventually she got sick and i had to have her put to sleep, but prior to doing this i had the dog officer come to my house to check her to see when it was time to let her go. she was loveable and friendly and never ever bit anyone. i have grandchildren and would not have a vicious dog in my house. the person who owned the dog that bit that little boy must not have had it as a pet the way it went after the poor little boy. there are a lot of pit bull owners and there are even ones for adoption at the mspca. we owners love our pet and all of them should not be picked on because of their breed. i believe records would show other types of dogs who have bit people. lets get the record of over the yrs what type of dogs have bitten people. i feel very sorry for the boy who got bit and hope he will have a good recovery. all dogs should be on leashes and put bulls wear a muzzle. thats the law and we have to abide by it. i can only hope all the facts come out about dog bites and breeds of dogs and that people go to the meeting with an open mind. thank you.

I was attacked by a 120 Rottwieler/Am. Staff cross nearly 5 years ago. At that time, I groomed dogs for a living and I only wish it were a clients dog as the personal situation would have been much easier to handle. Unfortunately, it was a family members pet and I know all too well the mental scars that such an attack leaves. Needless say, I do not groom anymore....I simply cannot. Anyhow, even though I was attacked by such a controversial breed, I do not blame the dog or the breed...its the owner..all the way. If the dog had been properly trained, not to mention on going obedience, that would have never happened to that boy.

Further, I have to ask...what was the boy doing to the dog? Was it truely unprovoked as in my case? Was the dog eating? Was she in pain? Was she protecting her litter? Was she protecting her owner?
