The animals in Claymont just take their act right to the streets, traveling in pack of destructions. they don't have transporation to go to the malls. as far the the ban, young teens, older teens, all out of control with no resepct for others or themselves for that matter. Of course mommy and daddy should be commended for raising such disrespectful young men and women. Way to go!!

Obviously, the mall wouldn't be taking this step unless there was a problem. People shouldn't be dropping their kids off at the mall unsupervised. Perhaps if parents would try something novel like...oh I don't know...parenting...then this would not have been needed.

kING OF Prussia has turned into a bad shopping trip the last few times I was there. If it isn't the surly salespeople who are too busy picking their braids with their extra long nails, its the groups of teens blocking the way in the food court area. They are loud, obnoxious, in your face brats. Who in their right mind would let their young teens hang out there. On the second floor there is a row of massage chairs for the shopper's convenience. They are always filled with teens. You also have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get in the doors. It is a shame because the refurbishment of the Plaza is very nice.

I don't recall ever "hanging out" in a mall. My mother did make me get a summer job when I was 14 cause I had "too much time" on my hands. But I can recall many times at the age of 16 that I needed to run to the mall and get something. I can't imagine getting turned away because my mother wasn't with me. I think 18 is a little too old to be requiring a chaperone. I mean, are there really 16 year olds "hanging out" at shopping malls?

I am right wrote: <quoted text> Well now our tax dollars are going to be paying for vandlism, car thefts and drugs. So you admit to failed parenting rather than even try? If the mall can't babysit your children, so that you can enjoy your free time, you'd just wash you hands and leave them to a life of crime? The problem here is not ageism, it's horrible parenting. It's parents who think their own personal free time is more important than raising their children right. If you decided to have them, you are in for the long haul. Batten down the hatches and accept that your person free time is forfeit until they reach their own age of accountability. Stop expecting governments and institutions to raise your children for you and do you damned job.

I think the teens can deal with not being able to run to the mall

You're probably one of those that interferes with the security officers doing their job by coming to the defense of the perpetrators of crimes and disorderly conduct. Keep out of there too. And why should they be charged with babysitting someone elses brats that the parents won't take responsibility for anyway?

Shame on the parents that do this. Parents don't see that within minutes their nice children they drop off change clothes and make up and voila! From cute to slutty in 90 seconds.

In fact 20 kids aren't buying cds. Have you seen these creeps? They don't have any bags from any store. They're just running and jumping around and humping one another shamelessly. I say good call on the mall.

Don't worry--if the owners of the stores in the mall find that they are losing far too much money, this new law will quickly disappear--if on the other hand; both young and old feel safer, sales will increase and the overall climate at Christiana Mall will improve.

Justice wrote: <quoted text> How about you be a real parent and take responsibility for your children, rather than pawn it off on a mall. Perhaps people should think a little harder before they uncross their legs. Children are a huge responsibility and if you are just sending them to the mall to get them out of your house, perhaps you didn't fully consider that before you spawned them. Shame on you. Parents taking responsibility for their children? What a novel idea. I hope it works. I hope it catches on and others start taking responsibility too. The parents don't want to be responsible for their kids that hang out at the mall. They feel entitled to have their weekend nights free. They worked hard all week and need the down time themselves. After all, it's not easy for a 30 year old parent to control a 15 year old child. So they take them to the mall where they won't be annoyed by the teen's behavior. As long as the teens are not interfering with their free time ...How bad can they really be? <<heavy on the sarcasm>> You need a license to cut hair. You need a license to catch a fish. But, you can leave any two morons alone to make a baby. Maybe the SYSTEM does have some responsibility here?

Old timer wrote: Good, these brats terrorize our malls with their gang-like groups and scare people senseless. You cant stereotype all teens. I'm 17 and enlisted in the air force. I have a group of friends I like to spend time with, but i'm not a brat and I most certainly dont terrorize you. Enough is enough, some of you for this rule need to stop being so one sided.
