travelers checks are designed to make it easier for the user to travel across the country and internationally and still use the funds. They are usually prepurchased. Credit Debit cards are just as easy to forge or use in a fraudulent manner.

I know that this type of crime hurts our local businesses, that fact is not lost on me. However, I was shocked that our local officers had some elaborate stakeout planned at the Oakland rent-a-car, while we have rapists (Harbor Rapist) & Robbers (Pizza My Heart robbery) on the loose in our town. She apparently passed checks all OVER the bay area, with only 5 of the nearly 400 counterfeit checks passed here, and yet its OUR LOCAL AGENCY police officers who go up to Oakland. Right, because we have the resources to spare for that type of thing. Where were the other interested agencies in Oakland, Dublin, San Jose, etc... Just seems like a bit much & more of an ego thing. Like, "Ha ha, we caught her & you didn't. Our little agency caught her & now you have to come to us to interview her."

Logicescapesyou says it right....catch the real vioent crooks, go back to the "cold case" murder files and also the Harbor rapist case....leave the "soft crime" Lady alone.
