I'd be grateful if the worst problem in my neighborhood were rude tourists taking pictures of my home. Trade you one drive-by for 10,000 picture taking, stoop sitting, rude tourists?

Living in Toronto for many years I've seen my share of rude tourists. Nothing ruder than the typical "Ugly American" tourist. You know the type, wearing the tank top and sloppy shorts, flip flops and a fanny pack and then expects to be seated at The Palm for dinner. Toronto has a good public transit system and the subway is the best way to travel around the downtown area because, as with most large cities, the streets are choked with traffic. As I was sitting on the subway a family of American tourists crowded on, complaining there are no seats available (it was rush hour). With map in hand one of them asked me how to get to Calgary. I told her Air Canada or WestJet were probably her best bet. No she said, we want to take the subway. I told her nicely the subway doesn't go to Calgary, this is the Toronto transit Commission, it's only around the Greater Toronto Area. That didn't sit well with her and she complained how inefficient the Toronto subway system is that it didn't provide a stop in Calgary. Trying not to be rude, I told her that Calgary is over 2000 miles away and she just laughed at me saying that's impossible, Canada can't be that big. I didn't have the heart to tell her the country is bigger than the U.S. Another time we were vacationing one July at a cottage up on Lake Superior. Not far from the Michigan border. While picking up groceries we noticed a car pull up to the store with Michigan plates and skis on the ski rack. The guys in the car asked us where they could go skiing around the area. IN JULY!!!! When I mentioned it was summer time, and any ski resorts would be closed until Winter. They then complained what a wasted trip it was, they drove 3 hours all the way to Canada and there's no snow! IN JULY!!!!

IN JULY!!!! Oh geez......people like that just make me cringe..... I live in a beautiful beach area where the "Manhattanites" buy/build elaborate McMansions that they use about 8 weekends out of the entire year. These vacation homes are well over 10,000 sq. ft. and cost anywhere from $3,000,000 to $15,000,000. We have a small town "Main Street" about 1/4 mile long....very nice.... .....they roll into town Friday night and leave Sunday evening....Sometimes I just go into town and sit on a bench and watch the vanity and madness. My favorite is watching the husband/wife driving their $3,000 mountain bikes, all decked out in the most expensive bikining clothes. It's very apparent that they don't know how to ride a bike that well and I know that they are only driving into town from 1/4 mile down the road from their mansion. They pull up, buy a Vitamin water, make sure they are seen by their friends/peers, and then drive back home......a whole 1/2 mile trek round trip!!! Thank God they invested so much money in biking gear. I can go on, but I don't have the time.... It's soooooooo laughable......
