I can vouch for this also. Number 1, Ky has less tax on fuel than Tn. Secondly, gas has been cheaper in Corbin, Barbourville, and Pineville than in Middlesboro, by at least a dime on average. All gasoline for the area comes from Knoxville and it costs more in freight (delivery charge based on distance to delivery) to Corbin than Middlesboro. Lastly, Middlesboro is the 1st town around to raise price when fuel goes up, and the last to lower it when it comes down.

That is stupid at best.

If you don't like Kentucky stay in Tennessee. Shop in Tennessee and pay Tennessee sales tax. Tennesseans who live near the border have it made. They don't pay the Kentucky Income Tax we pay. They don't pay taxes on groceries bought in Kentucky like they do in Tennessee. They don't pay personal property tax like we do in Kentucky. Our sales taxes are lower because we make it up in other areas. So if you don't like it stay in your state and pay your taxes there and benefit your educational system with the additional revenues.

Don't forget all the KY residents who register their boats in TN so they don't have to pay property tax in KY. Touche!

BTW, our lottery helps the educational system by giving scholarships to every TN resident who graduates HS and meets certain grade and attendance criteria.

No problem. Thank you for allowing us to buy groceries tax free and cigarettes at $4/carton cheaper in KY, not to mention, being able to come back home and pay $49 (no recurring property tax in TN) to retag our vehicles every year.

I got gas at Harrogate Friday morning and it was $3.47 (up to 3.51 there now) but anywhere from $3.79 to 3.99 at Tazewell. Amazing how Lee's at Dogwood Heights is 28 cents a gallon higher than it's sister store in Harrogate, less than 10 miles away. I can't get over how they come up with some lame excuse for why they are higher. Truth is, they are just making more money.

it all comes down to one thing they want our damn money *pilot is $3.45 and highway oil is anywhere to 5-7 cents higher that shows that they are just chargeing us what the heck that they want to it has nothing to do with the oil prices.

The reason Highway Oil is higher is because it is full service and Pilot is self service. Charging an extra 5-7 cents per gallon is reasonable for that. Normally, they are either the same or within 2 cents of each other. How many times in the winter would you not be willing to pay an extra 50 cents for someone else to pump it when it is 10 degrees outside.

i have lived in middlesboro for 5 years and have NEVER got gas at highway oil i had rather get out and pump my own gas when it is 10degrees outside then to get gas at highway oil and have to pay $500.00 or more $$$$ to get my truck fixed from the water and drugs thats in their gas.

I can't wait to come back to Tennessee to live. Milk is almost $6.00, gas is $4.??, and it cost me $320.00 for the taxes on my car this year. I have only beeen away 9 month's and think God I get to come back to Tn/Ky to pay less on everything. TOMMY JOE do you by your food in KY?

I live in ky..but I travel to tenn.most every weekend.I am glad gas is cheaper in tenn.its cheaper to drive home than it it to drive down.LOLGas is cheaper in tenn.it Has been for months not sure why.Wish it ws cheaper here..but nothing we can do but pay it.ITs life.I don;t think it has anything to do with cheating anyone.I think its just cost more to get the gas here. You have to stop and think ..if the gas comes from the south...thats several more miles to ship it to Ky.
