I do not know if this happened or not. But, I do know that everyone with a heart should be concerned. As for LMU, they took their time in making any comments on this alleged rape. I think they could have replied in a more rapid manner. And for Miss Fee. It may go away for you and be forgotten. But, if this did happen, I am sure it will not go away for the victim and be forgotten about anytime soon. If ever..Hope your major isn't social work, psychology, education, etc. You have already made it very clear on local tv that isn't the fields you need to be working in. You say you are active in the community..I would hate to think at what??

You are exactly correct. LMU does need to have more lightening. The problem is PETE DEBUSK will not get his name and picture in the paper for putting up better lightening like he does the new buildings. Some say Pete is the man. I am afraid, Pete is the boss. That doesnt make him the man. Nancy sure isnt president. Because Pete is in charge. He just gives her and everyone the orders on what he wants done. I am all for improvement. However, it should be done all over campus. Not just on the big hill...at DCOM..aka..Petes Hospital, Petes name sake..Petes school, abe is dead, why remember him..Pete is still alive and with the money...etc..

It would have never been discussed by LMU if it hadnt made it on topix and started to make the school look bad. SO, like LMU

You are exactly right. If you are not DCOM, you are considered nothing. It used to be Education was the top, and other majors nothing. Not now. DCOM IS #1. Let the rest go..Thats the way it seems to be anyway. But, I did hear one thing. Some LMU-DCOM students only came to LMU -DCOM because of the Daycare on campus. But, just over night the daycare was closed down. SO, guess DCOM was #1 in that situation. Why did the daycare close? Maybe DCOM knows the answer..Or maybe miss..fee has the answer...or has the daycare just been forgotten already too like she stated the rape would be..

Definately not. LMU is out for LMU. The money. Always has been like that and always will be, I guess.

Last night, when I was coming from Ky,.I decided to count the light in front of the new medical building. On the front and sides are 16 pole lights. There is also spot lots all around the front of the building. This is not counting all the ones that are in the back. I know they are proud of this medical building. However, before DCOM, there was other students. For years and years, other majors. I feel that they should try and protect all of the students on campus. Put better lighting in all places that doesn't have approperate lighting. Instead of spot lighting this building. These lights could have been used to put lights in the parking lot where it will spot light the students who are walking from their classes and to their dorms at night. I know LMU is a private school and that always makes the rates way higher. But, don't you feel you need to use some of this money for the safety of the students. Build all the buildings you want. But, without the students. These buildings would be empty. Drive around South East. There are lights everywhere. I know it is a two year school and no dorms. But, still. Lights everywhere.

I am very active in several organizations on campus including student government. I was asked a question and I answered it. I'm tired of trying to explain what I said to people who don't know anything about our campus. And to the ones who say they are parents of students or are former students, I'm sorry if you may not agree with the things another student and I said. No one knows what happens on this campus except for the people who live here. And if we said things are going to be ok and that we will learn from this situation as a community, then that's what we'll do. It's how this campus works. As for the personal insults and snide remarks you all have made... Maybe you should take a step back and realize that maybe this did happen to me. Maybe I have been a victim. Instead of bashing people for their opinions, stop and think about what might have happened to give them those opinions. If you want to say that I'm "not human" and "have no heart" then maybe you should think about yourself and see that you are doing exactly you accuse me of. A lack of desire to understand others is exactly why our world is like it is. Open your eyes and try to understand where people like "Mr. Cates" and I are coming from and maybe you'll see a different picture.

Ok, first of all the news reporter had asked me the question of what i think about the rumors going around not what it think about rape in general.i myself know quite a few poeple that have been raped and 2 that have been molested for about 6 years when they were young and i take it very seriously,i think it's horrible.i meant that the rumors here are being blown out of proportion and if you were here you yourself would notice that yes they are being blown out of proportion.

You can argue about whether or not it happened and whether or not the two students' remarks were appropriate all day long. Regardless, the scary truth is that something like this could easily happen again.
As people have previously stated, the lighting on the LMU campus is horrible. There in no lighting in the parking lot behind Farr, so walking to your car after a night class could potentionally be a very bad situation. When I had a night class last semester, I would get my keys out before even leaving the class room and once close enough, hit my key fob lock/unlock button repeatedly just to use the glare of my headlights as a guide in the dark. The lock on the back door to the Liles dorm had been broken for several months before it was fixed/replaced. Now students usually use the garbage cans to prop the door open. Anyone can walk in and out, being that there is no one verifying that you actually have reasonable cause to be there. Also in Liles, the alarm inside the backdoor is frequently beeping and blinking "trouble", but I've yet to see security checking on it or at least informing residents that it is a technical error, which I assume it to be. |

LMU are you listening? Your students are crying for help so this doesn't happen again. These students shouldn't have to be scared because you failed to provide proper lighting and security. Is lighting and a safe campus too much to ask for? These kids are our future and it is LMU's responsibility to protect them while being housed on your campus!!!

All that LMU cares about it the money. They do not intend to impove the lightening situation. I attended LMU in the 90's and we begged for better lightening. They got out money, they raised tuition. They are getting the students money now, and they will still not improve lightening. It has already been proven that DCOM is what is important. You can see that when you drive by the main road after dark. They either care about showing this building off, or keeping it safe. It is not the safety of the medical students. Because, the lights stay on when no students are there. WAKE UP LMU!!!!!!!!!!

LMU might want to pay attention to the lawsuit UT just lost today over an attack that occured there in a spot with inadequate lighting. See WATE.com for details.

I just wondered what the LMU parent who commented before thought about this comment that I found on topix. I have pasted it here below Thanks.
This is listed as a poll: Several concerned parents and students have spoken out about the lighting situation on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University. Everyone seems concerned except for the ones that seem to have the final say of the expenses at this school. I do not attend this school, or have anyone that does. So, I really don't have a say, I guess. However, I did attend LMU and graduate in the mid 90's. Lighting was a major issue then, and seems to be one now as well. I will say this. Lighting is some what better than when I attended LMU. However, it seems that so many more things are being put before the "SAFETY" issue. I read here were some discussed the enormous amount of lights that shines on DCOM all of the time. Well, when I drove by LMU today. I see that DCOM wins again. I am afraid that this will be a major problem for the community. The red lights that are right in front of the enterance to DCOM I believe can turn out to be a traffic hazard. The one coming from Middlesboro may be OK. But, how about the one coming from the Tazewell side where you have to stop on the hill in the winter time. I don't understand this decision at all. From what I have read, DCOM has about 150 students + faculty and staff. I figure that they will not all be coming and going at the same time. So, why do we need another red light in this small town of Harrogate?? Did the tax payers pay for this? Or did Pete DeBusk? Who is willing to be responsible for all of the accidents that it will probably contribute too? I think if LMU or Pete paid for this, the money could have been used a lot wiser else where on campus. I would like to know what everyone else thinks. Thanks..Harrogate

As usual, putting almost all students last again, LMU!

I think that everything that happens on campus is done to help or protect LMU. The student are always last to know anything. Until they hear it thru the grapevine. The are trying to make a great apperance for DCOM and the other new buildings. I think they need to work on the old dorms, and make them safer. I beautiful campus is great! But, the safety of the students is important too. Why dont they work or the locks and the lighting? These things can not be seen form the road. But, they are important too..

Rape is okay on the LMU campus but don't empty the moody home of it's booze on this alcohol free campus.Take a look at Tom's face and nose and you will find where LMU priorities lie.

If it had not been made public and know by the tv stations, LMU would have swept it under the rug and would have never had any training course..

LMU and Hillary Clinton have at least one thing in common. When Hillary is caught saying something that ends up making her look bad. She or should I say he spokes person then states that she misunderstood the question. Well, LMU doesn't make a comment if in the wrong either until they are caught in the act!!
