Yes Yes Yes, very well said. If all of these unhappy parents would pull together the changes that could be made would benefit Everyone!! Even negative people like Island Dude! Let's move forward Pointe Coupee!!!

<quoted text>Why be such an ass I know who you are and you know my husband well, jerk! It was mildly a comment or suggestion. If more people would get their heads out of their asses like you, these problems may have a hint of a chance to be fixed. So go ahead and keep doing what you are doing with your close-minded self.
I'm glad you and/or your husband know me...but my comment was not personal. If you are so worried about "my head being up my ass", then bring some wisdom to me to help pull it out.

My mind is not closed, my eyes are quite open....and what I see is a school system run by politics instead of what is best for the kids and the community.

The system is so devoted to the "fairness" doctrine that the kids that could really thrive with just a tweak of rules enforcement, can't.

In other words, this system is so worried about being unfair to those who don't try and learn that they hold back the majority who could really, really get a good quality education.

I see all the anecdotal evidence...the 2-3 kids per year that come out of the public system here as real performers and I applaud that. But the PC system has only that, anecdotal stories.

What they do have a lot of, however, is the politicians pointing fingers and trumpeting how much better it'll be next time.

If you want to put your kids into that mess, go ahead, use them to make things better. I'll take the safe way, work harder to pay and put my kids in a situation that, while far from perfect, gives them the opportunity to learn.

We owe our kids a good education and sadly, the public schools here don't give them that.

It's awesome the way you read a short opinion that I gave, call me a schoolyard name and vomit out a statement that shows off mucho class envy.

I'm far from rich, I just chose to pay for my kids education rather than let them get the substandard "free" education they offer in this parish.

I know a lot of folks that rail against the private schools and having to pay tuition but will drop that 5G on a hunting lease, have a new truck every 2 years and head to Destin every year...with the state of the schools here, where are your priorities?

I really really wish I could have used the public system...I pay the taxes and vote for whomever I think would do the best job but you will never, ever find me throwing my kids into any situation that the tide is against them. What this parish needs is a wholesale clean out of the board, the top admin staff and some good leaders in the system. What this system needs is parents who place a priority on their kids' education and not on the number of heads on the wall. We need parents who send their kids to school to learn, not to baby sit and who support the school and actually care.

So, seƱor name-caller, you and your pals who think they can do all that go solve these issues and have a great system. Maybe my grand kids will benefit.

I agree with all that you are saying, however, my comment was not to just place our children the the public school system as it is now, but only to pull together and "fight" if needed to have a public school system that our community can be proud of and feel comfortable in sending our children to a school to receive and education with the political support which enables each and every child in this parish to receive a strong educational background, of course with the support of parents who want and encourage the same! So please before you look and see the negative sides, open your eyes a little bit more to see what we as a community can do if we could all pull together to fix what is broken for our children and our children's children!

If only it could be done....I am not really negative, just a realist.

The system here is pulled down from the top and bottom and those of us in the middle get squeezed

Well actually..........which cert test would you have wanted that "young man" to pass considering that in only 3 years he was asked to teach World Geography, Louisiana History, Physical Science, Biology 2, 7th Grade Reading, and Elem. P.E.!!!!!!!! That young man was certified to teach P.E. in a private school but was not allowed to do so! He was asked to do more and was taken advantage of! The least our school could have done was to let him teach in the area he was already certified in! It's not like he did the minimum......... He was the second person in the school EVERY morning (6:30a.m.) and last to leave EVERY night (7:30p.m.) and noone ever noticed because he never wante the attention! He did that for our kids! He never complained and always had a smile on his face and is the BEST example for every kid! The LEAST FRA could have done was let him teach what he IS certified in!
Bottomline is......We lost the BEST thing OUR KIDS have ever had!!!

FRA had built in PE teachers every year between the AD and the head FB coach. The no-brainer is to keep it that way. Don't put blinders on people to make us believe he was devastated to leave cuz he had been trying hard to go to CHS many years. My son was in his class this year, and all that teacher instructed them to do was cut up and play jokes with other classes. Having a good rapport with students is nice, but when the education isn't present, then it goes to hell. I blame not only the principal, but also the hypocritical coach, who had plenty time to expand their areas of certification, but couldn't and Wouldn't do it.

Where will they be getting them from? I don't see anyone that hasn't already been there running towards CHSPC. In this economy there are students there that aren't enrolled yet and probably won't.

I wonder if the board is looking at the administration again since the high school has lost 7 teachers. All of them are leaving because of the principal and the way he treats people, this includes parents, students, and faculty. Yet the board seems to condone his behavior and leave him running the school. I heard from an x board member that when he was hired they were told he was staying until the school had to close. I believe from the things he is doing now that this may truly happen. He is running a school down and has had board members by in to his good old boy politics. This is truly a shame for the students and families that attend this school. I hope the board and stock holders wake up before it is really to late. I just hope it is not already to late.

Makes me mad to see people on here always blaming the principal for the bad things going on at the school. You have parents, teachers and also school board members who are also responsible for the downfall of this school. Wake up people before it is too late.
