Makes sense. The only time I pulled it I was in tow haul mode in drive and it did jump in & out You are saying I should be in 3 rd tow haul? Everyone that has a bully dog swear that it increase Hp, I'll probably on tow 10-12 times a year.
The Tow/Haul function changes the shift points in the Transmission for optimum towing power. You should be using it. I don't believe you need to worry about running it in 3rd, as the Tow/Haul feature should keep you out of overdrive when necessary. Your owner's manual should tell you the best settings for your scenario.

The Bully Dog programmer is stated to offer 10-30hp gains which, at a price of almost $500, isn't worth the money. If you want one, I can get it for you, but I don't think you will be very impressed.

You have to be careful with people's "seat of the pants" reviews of products like this. Without actual dyno numbers, people's experiences are unreliable due to the theory of the Indemnity Effect. The Indemnity Effect is a person's tendency to subconsciously exaggerate a product's performance because of the simple fact that they paid for the item. Because the unit is so expensive, people tend to "imagine" a useful performance gain, even though it may not really exist. I have seen people lose performance after stacking various mods, but they will swear that the vehicle performs better even in the face of solid dyno numbers that say otherwise.

no if you press and hold the tow/haul mode button this should lockout the overdrive. still not sure about that programmer in my previous post i knew how they preformed because i used to race a used quarter mile times to see the gains of different mods.that was long ago and with todays technology its possible that they can now do what they say on gas engines. i do know for a fact they work on diesels.

Good choice. Diesel is the way to go.

I am using the Superchips programmer and I am very happy with it. I can get all of the major brands, however, so give me a call and I'll price whatever you like.

your welcome. when i did research on which programmer to buy i just did what you are doing i asked alot of people who knew about diesels and programmers. i went with 1 that most people say is one that was safe i went with the hypertech with 3 different stages of power. while it is more mild then some of the others i still noticed a big difference in power when just driving it. its all about what you want and trust to be safe.

Thanks for the help. Very happy with Superchip, went from 15.9/16.00 mpg to 22.5/22.8 mpg running on the performance level.
