Looks like someone's been watching Facebook. I LOL'ed when I saw that. Hell, half the town was about to form a mob over a tattoo shop. What do you think people would do if Hooter's would try? One of those Hooter's T-Shirts with New Roads, LA on it would be cool though.

I think you'd have a better chance of a strip club opening up on da island! LOL

Quick! We need an ordinance against orange shorts and puffy white socks! Save the property values!

In my opinion, we could have Ruth Chris in NR, but if the staffing is not the same "quality" as the business, it won't last. Examples?
Burger King, Popeyes, McDonald's, Subway....not sure about Rotolo's, but I think I've read a few comments on Topix regarding service quality, as well as Satterfields.
I HATE that we have to struggle each time my husband and I want to go out for a nice dinner or a quick meal...where do we go? I WANT to help our town succeed by supporting our businesses, but after a few bad experiences, I opt for BTR. It shouldn't be that way. I was born & raised in this town, I was raised on The Platter, The Ox Bow, Mr. Deb's, Tiger Drive In - where there was alot of pride in the business & the owner/manager visited your table, welcoming your comments & fixing any complaints right away.
Hooters could be successful (with seasonal traffic - boaters, bikers, football gamers, hunters) BUT in a small town? Who wants to see thier daughter, grandchild, niece or the little girl they used to babysit with all their "goodies" hanging out? OR the local tramp with HER goodies hanging out (and serving you food?!)?? LOL! Jus' sayin'....

You can't get good help without paying well. You can't pay well without raising prices. And that would be the first thing customers complain about. Think about what restaurant in New Roads is doing best right now. Hot Tails. The one where you have to go to the counter to order or go get your own refill.

people like you make me sick!! I've been to Hooters, and those girls work their asses off!! And they don't have their goodies hanging out! They have more trash working in new roads that are fully dressed. That's why all the businesses are shitty and don't stay open very long!!

And I don't really care for hot tails! Sometimes the food is just way to hot! I like spicy, but if I can't taste the flavor of the food and my mouth is on fire; what's the point! Last 2 times I ate there it was like that. I have had some really good meals there but I'm scared to to order and it be too hot then it's just a waste! How about Scott's? How are they doing?

ummm.. There goodies are hanging out! "hooters" is there gimmick. I'm my opinion it's done tastefully. She didn't say Hooter's girls don't work hard, she was referring to restaurants in New Roads and the poor service they have. She's saying Hooters probably wouldn't work here since its such a small town, the employees would be family or friends of. Who wants to gawk at a lil girl they watched grow up! I'm not real sure why people like her would make you sick? Her opinion made good sense to me! And nobody was talking about the trash working in Nr, we talking bout Hooters!

The web site states that the population would need to be 100,000-150,000 in a five mile radius. I think that just might count New Roads out.

I am thinking "Twin Pecs" ala Magic Mike...of course, recruiting would most definitely take place out of NR!

Thank you, "Good Vibes" for your defense. I wasn't trying to be mean. I'm glad there are intelligent ppl on this forum that understand. I want our town to succeed! I wasn't trying to offend anyone or anyone's profession. I was a cocktail waitress for several years when working thru college, it is hard work. I have 2 daughters, all of their family are in New Roads. Don't think their grandpa or uncles would like seeing them in the outfits just because they wanted cold beer & good wings. Less chance of that in a larger city with more options. That's all I was sayin.

There is a Hooters in Houma, LA, and Houma does not have 100,000 people. I'd love to see a Hooters in New Roads or Port Allen.

Yeah, but comparing Houma to New Roads is apples and oranges. Houma also has a Mall, Lowe's, Home Depot, every food chain there is, half dozen nice hotels, Sam's club, etc....., not to mention all the money from the oil workers and a father/son alligator hunting team that I'm pretty sure share the same bed.

Come on ppl for real?! You really think that NR could support or even handle a Hooters? This is so stupid, who are you gonna get to work there? All the (and let me put this gently) loose easy woman running around that we have in pointe coupee? Really ppl? This place couldnt even keep a popeyes with the great group of rejects to choose from around here. There are maybe about 5-10 girls at the most in the area that could even pass for a Hooters girl around here.

Be for real, you would have more luck getting Raisin Canes to buy the old Popeyes, which dont hold your breath for that or a Taco Bell either like all rumors say. Grow up people! This town has barly any good places to eat with an overstock of choices to choose from. Hottails, Ma Mamas, Lucky P's(on a good day never mind the WAIT), Pablos (breakfast only), and thats pretty much it the rest of the place around here are barely passible but to many lazy ppl around here to keep them a float.

What this town could really use but wouldnt support or couldnt find decent enough ppl to work there is a family country style place like franks in baton rouge that does breakfast, lunch, dinner.
