I've been looking at this area, and it sounds fantastic. I haven't had much luck finding a lot of information about NPR online, the info I've found is hard to judge because opinions are so greatly different. Therefor, I was hoping to hear from some of you in the area. I've never visited the area before. I'm a young adult. Looking at the area, described by Google, as "Seven Springs", just east of Athenian Academy of Pasco County School District. Does anyone have any advice or knowledge of this area? I'd greatly appreciate any advice!

Thank You!

I lived in westpasco for 20 years. The further away from u.s. 19 u get, the better off you'll be. Look into trinity.. It's about the best of the area nowadays. Best of luck to u.

The thing that no website will tell you is that West Pasco has gotten pretty ghetto in the last 15 years, there's been a rise in home invasions, drug issues, prostitution, shooting's and all that good stuff that comes with big city life, it's not uncommon to see syringes or vomit in the parking lot while walking into a store, and a large percentage of people just seem to be droning zombies with blackened eyes, sunken into their head.
As for being a young person, there's a little bit to do here and there depending on what you like, but mostly this area caters to old people.
And if you're not already in Florida, you should know that people can be very rude and inconsiderate here.
But, there happens to be a lot of cool stuff to do here too, it is Florida's nature Coast, if you're into checking out the natural sites and such.

Hi there, wow, talk about wildly varying descriptions! I've lived in NPR for the past 10 years and I will say you definitely have to dig below the surface (US 19) to find some good stuff--but it's here!

NPR used to cater mostly to seniors but the population is getting younger and there is a growing population of 20-somethings who are coming back from college and settling in here.

Check out these sites and introduce yourself! You can also see who they're linked to to find other businesses and events in the area.

Cultural Affairs:
www.DiscoverNPR.com | FB: https://www.facebook.com/NPR.Culture

Environmental Committee: FB: https://www.facebook.com/GrowingNPR

NPR Rec & Aquatic Center (awesome facility for swimming or hanging out by one of the 4 pools as well as sports and fitness): FB: https://www.facebook.com/nprparksandrec

NPR Library (a big community hub, LOTS of stuff going on here): https://www.facebook.com/pages/New-Port-Riche...

If you're into competitive sports there are tons of races, bike races and triathlons year round.

Seven Springs is about a mile or so south-east of downtown NPR.

Hope that helps, good luck on the move and getting settled!

Oh, I also forgot to mention we've got a great river running through town that has tons of boat docks and kayak launches along the way, 10 different City Parks--one of which is a nature preserve--and several major events take place here every year.

We're also right on the Gulf of Mexico--so if you're into kayaking, boating, or other water activities, you'll dig it.

New port richey has its good and bad areas... The further east u go from us19 the better off u will be to stay away from a lot of the drugs etc. Best of luck to u! Ps. Since u will he needing to go to the childrens hospital a lot i would suggest checking out pinellas county... Oldsmar/palm harbor area. Hope this helps!

Looking for the best public school in NPR, I've heard bad things about Gulf, but it's the school in our district. Looking for middle and elementary. I'm in the Gulf Harbors .

Hey Matt. Guess what. I'm in Bristol and I just moved up here from New Port Richey. I wish I was there. Like another poster here said, it used to be primarily for retirement folks and they are ADORABLE and there are some nice young ones...but now hear this : It's not like Tazewell. The younger ones (not all) talk constantly abput jail. Everybody is getting on of off probation, in jail out of jail..... I had things stolen right off the back patio (a guitar ) screened in. My point is be aware. It gets a little wild. There's a huge mix of people from all over, unlike the stagnation of being here. I hate it here. I left the day after high school and didn't return until I was 51 and it's killing me to be here after living away...

Anyhow, there really is lots to do. There's the river, like the other poster said. Unlike here, there's always a concert or a ball game. You can get to the stadium in about 45 minutes. Also, you should know that you can fly from tri cities airport round trip for like $89... Serious. Allegiant Air.... I've done it lots...

Theses beaches. Lots of jobs. What do you do????? What field are you in????

My guess would be this. If you've lived in Tazewell for life, the first year will be an adjustment, but then it just keeps getting better.

Heck, I might go with ya...lol

I'm sure you'll be fine but it's not that great of an area. I lived in Pasco County for 10 years before moving back to VA. Probably one of the biggest mistakes I've made.

I just made the same mistake two years ago today I moved to bristol from New Port Richey. I hate it here, love it there. Wanna go back ASAP. The people are great there. Weather excellent. Even jobs are batter. The state government is littered with absolute worms. Governor is a demagogue and a HITLER, but other than that , it's a good place, look at our own Ron Ramsey. I didn't think it was possible to cram that much stupid into one head.

I live in Port Richey, have been here for 3 years now, we live on the gulf, I have never had any problems in our neighborhood with crime, although last year a drunk driver did take out our mailbox at 3 am, lol. We know most of the local police, they are all very friendly and helpful. As far as drugs, if you don't look for them, they don't find ya...I will never leave the area willingly, lol. As far as hospitals for your child, We have ALL Childrens in St. Pete, but we also have St Joseph's Children Hospital, also alot of the doctors for both the children's hospitals have satellite offices here in Port Richey, some of my family recently moved here from the midwest and she has a chronically ill child as well, he has done very well here, and she seems to like the care of St. Joseph's just as well as All Childrens, but she prefers the doctors from St. Jo's..she uses both depending on the specialist she is seeing. Best of luck to your family and I hope you enjoy all florida has to offer your family.

Overall, it better than living here. Too much stupid here in bristol TN. I hate it here. If you can get to port richey Florida? Do it
