Fighting is assault which is a crime. If someone fights, especially if a group attacks someone which is just plain cowardly, they should be prosecuted. Also you don’t kick someone on the ground. That is when you are going from fighting to murdering. If someone can’t stand the fight is over. Idiot kids.

What surprises me is that people are attacking a person who uses poor grammar and can't type (persons like that are probably in the majority in the country due to lack of proper education)

The story was about a kid being beat up. The kids who did it filmed it, which meant that they planned ahead to make sure they had a camera and someone to film the crime. This was fun to them and they intended it to be fun for those who watched the video online. These children are probably from well to do families and will get off with only a slap on the wrist, maybe a few days detention or suspension, but that's all. The kid they beat up will have to live with this forever and nobody seems to care about what will happen to the victim. Then there will be the other students who will decide that for what ever reason they make up, the victim deserved to be beat up, doesn't matter what logic they use, they will think the beating was instigated by the victim somhow. Imagine graduating from school with a diploma and a post-traumatic stress disorder? The kids who did this will still be laughing about it for years, the people who saw the video will remember the kid as a victim always. Unless they are legally punished that is, if the parents of the victim can afford it. About the only thing that matters anymore these days is money, so the kids who did this should have to pay restitution and punitive damages (assuming they ever are found guilty)

More then likely it was some snot-nosed brats from both sides of the fight who used their handy little video-cell phones for the shoot and post creation. Since the child was not hospitalized I am sure it was more of a pride thing for the mother then it was injury to the child.

I don't doubt that they were all brats. I'm not sure why the mother wouldn't report this right away, or why she didn't take the kid to hospital for a check up (maybe they couldn't afford it or have no insurance, which wouldn't be surprising. Who knows) We may never know what was going though the mothers head, maybe fear of retaliation, or ridicule from the offenders parents. Maybe WISH will do a follow up, maybe not.

I also had a child that was a victim to this same kind of situation. School had let out for x-mas break a child approached my son and pushed him, my son fought back it was video taped via a couple of cell phones. My son told me of the fight as soon as he got home. He got grounded because it was a situation he could have walked away from and chose not to.

I had no clue about the video until the school police contacted me a week later and showed me what was posted all over Myspace.

My son was charged with assault and battery which was dropped down to disorderly conduct he did 90 dyas probation and 40 hours community service. The kid that started the fight got nothing more then his butt whooped on video.

Talk about the epitamy of absoulte stupidity. Forgive me for being a bit extreme in my estimation of the incident, but may the victim recover and as for the teens who perpetrated this jack@$$ behavior, they need to be locked up in juvenile detention until they are 21 and placed on probation afterwards with a harsh warning of hard time in an adult prison if they step out of line again. If the teen culprits parents defend this lawless behavior, they need to be locked up, too. There's absolutely no excuse at all for this kind of behavior and such behavior needs to be severely punished, namely by time in jail. The punishment should be worse if these brash teens tape a fight that they're involved with and post it on line. If the parents permit this kind of behavior, then they need to be held fully accountable for their negligence. I don't feel sorry for these fools because they brought the cvonsequences of their behavior on themselves and need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law for that behavior. I'm not sympathetic to people who perpetrate criminal behavior and refuse to take any responsibility for that behavior, and I have no sympathy for parents who permit and/or defend this kind of behavior, because it would only show what bad parents they are. May the victim recover, but her family needs to consider a lawsuit against the accountable perpetrators. Such behavior needs to be severely punished and thoroughly prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. It's time to send a message to those teens who are even thinking about perpetrating this kind of behavior and to the parents who both allow and defend this kind of behavior that this action will not under any circumstances be tolerated by law and it will be met with very severe consequences.

Maybe a few thousand hours of community service after the jail time would help convince these idiots that what they did was wrong. Most kids like this never will think what they do is wrong. I'd like to see them work in an Emergency room cleaning up after a friday and saturday night!

That is alot of what is wrong with kids/teens today there are no consequences for their actions. The judge fines the snot out of the parents and the kids are left to do as they please because the parents no longer use corporal punishment. We have a society of kids/teens that have no fear!

Every crime should have it's consequences, and community service can be very creative in my mind. Like the people who think it's fun to destroy old cemeteries, make them pay for the damage, and then make them do the repairs. Making kids who beat up someone spend some time in an emergency room cleaning up, that's excellent. This might work for crimes where people are injured or property is damaged, but what do you do with the people who hate and use it as an excuse to do harm? We're having cross burnings in Indiana again, when the criminals are caught, what sort of community service can you use to change a mind that is closed by hate. These people are often trained to hate from the day they are born, you can try, but they are unwilling to accept any change. We see this sort of thing here in the forums everyday when you see a racially biased post. Even our TV News from WISH has become biased, they are allowing extremists to control many of the forums and draw them away from constructive conversation.

If you allow extremists to do what they do without some form of control, they will think that it's OK to do what they do.

Not at all. But you can find them all over these forums, they are the ones who have the same responses for everything, usually racially biased or with the same solution for any problem which they think is caused by some group they obviously have problems with. You can go left or right, Democrat or Republican or whatever, but you can also balance everything out. Each side has their extremist entity, they all take things too seriously and often take things too far out of balance. If you disagree, then why, if you can't explain why you disagree, then what is your solution, do you have a solution? There are people out there who disagree only because that's all they know how to do, it's their programmed response to everything, they don't contribute, they have no solutions. Often times, they have no side, they just automatically take opposition to whatever is being said or suggested.
