I just hope that it does not turn out like the dance factory that used to be off Middle St in Hanover. Take some cues from those owners.

How many of these clubs have opened and failed. They are not exciting enough for today's teens.Too much adult supervision.Just another place to deal and buy drugs.

You guys have a vision.... Stick with with and ignore the negativity that goes along with it. I am in the over 21 crowd and although I'm not keen on the idea of a bunch of teenagers roaming the streets at all hours of the night; Unlike a lot in our "area" I am aware of the fact THAT IT IS PARENTING that keeps these kids straight and if brought up right - they can go out, be respsonbilbe and have a good time at a club like this. So many parents these days are clueless! All the bad things that could happen here.. could happen ANYWHERE!

That section off RT30 in front of the OX is a hazard to pedestrians as it is. I can't amagine the what will happen with teenagers who want to show off their cars and drive like idiots. Don't get me wrong this is possibly a good idea but I feel the location is wrong. Good luck with it but I have agree with gigi. How many have opened and closed. lets not have a repeat of bee gee's billards!

I dont think the age ranges stated would be be good.14-25?I dont think 25 yr olds should be hanging out with 14 yr olds.Only trouble would come from that.Other then that, the place sounds like a good idea(minus the oxygen bar)

I give you guys 1 year before you're either selling the place, or going back to having a bar. You'll never be able to pay for everything being open 2 days a week! Plus the people in this area will be up in arms the first time some moron gets in an accident leaving the parking lot. Oh and you better put most of your money in security cause the first time a fight breaks out, or some punk sells skunk weed out of his car....ma and pa will be shouting that we need to close down this hellhole! Course I hope i'm wrong

The reason these under 21 clubs never work out is because the kids just want to hang out and spend no money. In any business if your customer isn't spending cash you are not going to survive

Wow, good luck to you, I think you will need it! I agree with Ravensfan that 14 year olds should not mingle with 25 year olds! What is up with that! Drinking age mixed with teens at an under 21 club? Spells trouble.

Great now what are the cops going to do in New Oxford, lol. No more dui patrols for that place lol

Yeah 14 and 25 dont mix.. too many young girls dressing older... the guys will get mixed signals. Good luck with the club. It is a great idea as long as some of the teens dont mess it up with booze and drugs. A few bad apples is all it will take .

OK. I am quite familiar with the OX former owner and staff. The biggest reason the place went uder is because of the staff. Rude and ofetn ignore you. The one guy behind bar always disapeared to talk on his cell phone. Waitresses ignored you or coped an attitude all the time. The staff even ruined it for the regulars. The owner didn't listen to what others told him when he would ask. Good employees often left or were let go. Most notably the bar manager. She knew what she was doing and things really got bad after she was gone. Now you have some of the former staff that were part of the problem turning it into an under 21 club where they will allow an age range of 14-25? It was a sinking ship due to poor management decisions over the past 3 years and it will still be going down. Rude people are just that rude. You can change the face of the owner but the attitude is still the same. This will all lead to another vacant building with a liquor license to sell to a chain restaurant.

As being part of the "over 21 crowd" I have been stating this for years that they need to change the ox back to Woodys or somthing similiar but with more security. I think this is a great idea as long as they can keep the kids occupied and keep the drugs out of the "club".

Age Group 14-25. Are you kidding me ? Your going to mix these young kids in with a much older crowd that drinks, meaning the over 21 grouping. This is not cool ! And your asking for some serious issues to develop, common sense will tell you that. You mixing in older folks that might be out drinking for a few hours before and then stumble over to this club and prey on the young folks, what is wrong the picture ? Seriously !
I can understand having specific age group nights to keep it safe as much as you can, example would be a 14-16 year old night, maybe a 17-18 year old night and then 19+ night. Not just leave it with that much of an age spread. How can you possibly provide the huigh level of security required, how can you stop someone from bringing in weed, pills and all the other drugs? How will this happen ? An O2 Bar .... Come on guys, what are you trying to do here ? I see right through where your going with this club and I do not like it. I can agree with charging a fee for entry, offer a soft drink bar and a NON-ALCOHOL BAR to mix up some cool, fancy drinks and offer a fair priced menu along with what you state, a decent arcade, pool table, dart boards and such ... This would be cool. But how can you keep these young girls safe from the older boys that will prey on them ? Tell us please ! You really need to reconsider your model business plan, why not reopen it as a bar ? but bring in the folks that will provide world class service ! This would make you more money than what you propose .... You guys have an underlying reason to be doing this ! |

I agree the 14-25 age group is a big gap, but remember that Pa has laws that restrict kids from being out past 11 if they are not 18. I went to clubs like this when I was under 21. There was one in Mechanicsburg, and one in Harrisburg. The club would announce it was time for people under 18 to leave with enought time for everyone to get home before 11. The older kids would not even arrive at the underage clubs intil close to 11 because of this. Just another way to think of things.

14-25 years. noo way. 14 yr olds should be a home still they cant drive. 16-20. should be the ages. over 21 can go to the bar. your gonna end up with some mad parents. keep the creepers out. there is no need for 25 year old men to be preying on our little girls. PERIOD.

I would predict about 90 days until this undertaking goes belly up!!

This is of public record, this John W Hammel has a nice mix of Court Docs. Everything from speeding to avoiding paying wage tax to Disorderly Conduct and Fighting, nice fine by the way ...
Is this who we would trust to open such a club and to work with youth in a nightclub environment ? I am sure we will find public records on this other gent as well ....... If I were a parent, I would worry ! |

I find this to be a good thing, i too was one of those youngsters that didnt have nowhere to have fun back in the day. I still hope Gettysburg gets something for these kids around here.(Skate-rink, dance club, game spot, something!!!)
I use to hang out at the OX a few years ago when they had a DJ Friday and Saturday nights until the bouncers got full of themselves and thought they were celebrities. The only problem i would say there is, is that this is to be an under 21 crowd but further in story it says people anywhere from 14 to 25 years of age will be clientel. I dont think me as a parent of at 14 year old girl would feel comfortable allowing her to go to a club with 21 year + men. The 21 & up crowd has other places to be so let them go elsewhere, these children dont. |
