Hi...When I was growing up in NC, my classmates told me about a place where your car rolled uphill...but I never managed a visit.

Now, thanks to Wikipedia, there's an entry under gravity hill, and they mention Denton, NC. But no separate link that gives exact location.

If you read the article, it mentions another one in NC also.

Supposedly, it's just an optical illusion. But it would be fun to take my kids.

Anyone know about it? I'd like to try it out.

ive been there. and i didnt believe that it was uphill, so i took a level, and it is an upward slope. to get there from charlotte you take 85 north to exit 76 and turn right. turn left after the gas station on newsome rd. go through the stop sign to continue on newsome. go to the next stop sign and turn right on bringle ferry. turn right on providence ch. (i think thats what its called) it is right at a small country store on the right. its got 2 big lights above it. you go down the first hill and stop at the bottom and you can tell that it is an incline. your car will roll up the hill. (turn it off and put it in neutral). idk about the flour but ill try it sometime. there used to be spraypaint on the ground where you were supposed to stop but i was just there last night and its not there anymore.

Actually you turn onto Richfield Road. Not Providence Ch. Rd. There is no old store. You have to go down the road several miles to the old store to turn around and go back to the spot marked in the road with spray paint and chalk. There is a line there so you'll know where to start. What's really weird is as you're rolling if you'll hit your breaks, you won't move any further. I've been there a lot. It's a ball to take a lot of girls out there.

The legend goes as this: A young mother was walking with her baby in a stroller. A car unknowingly runs over the mother and the child, killing them both. It is said that her spirit now pushes all cars in a never ending attempt to rescue her baby.

The story that I have always heard was that there was a young woman walking down the road trying to find help because her car had broken down and she was hit by a car.

My dad, grandpa, and I went there one night with a gallon of water, we found out that it is just one big optical illusion. The water flowed in the direction that the car moved and I don't believed that she could pushed that without us noticing.

It was a foggy night and raining a women and her baby, the gas station up the road was closed and she ran out of gas. The baby was crying so she took him out of the back seat. She saw a semi truck coming so she try to wave it down. The driver did not see her a ran her and her baby over it dragged her up the hill and tossed the baby over the truck. So whenever the hand marks appear that is just her pushing you out of the way into safty. It you put powder on the roof of the car you can even see the tiny hand prints of the baby.

There is a place in or near Crossville, TN (Hwy 68) that claims the same thing, only the legend goes that there was a bus wreck at Mile Marker 10 way back in the day. All the children on the bus were supposedly killed. As in your Gravity Hill, if you sprinkle powder on your vehicle, put it in neutral, it will roll up the hill, then afterward, if you look, there is supposed to the handprints in the powder, of the children who were trying to push your vehicle to safety.
