Who are these tools? Why are taxpayers giving these fat cop wannabees take home squad cars? They are free to drive anywhere on the village's dime because they might be called out at anytime? I see the one big guy at Beggers Pizza all the time drinking beer by himself then driving home in an ESDA car.

Then you should sit with him so he doesn't have to drink alone.

Aren't they the ones who set the tornado siren off whether there is a tornado or not? How many false alarms do we have a season? They cry wolf so much with that when there really is a tornado residents aren't going to take the warning seriously. They also block the road when Hickory Creek overflows. That's about all I can think of right now.

ESDA guys are losers that can't get on full time police departments or volly ball fire departments. It's about as low as you can get on the public safety food chain.

I appreciate the work that ESDA guys do. Everyone in the world is not a jerk just looking to anonymously rip on someone...

The NLFD tests the alarm I believe once on month on Tuesdays to make sure the siren(s) function properly so that when there is a need, it is working. Be informed before you slam someone. Now you look foolish.

This procedure is mandated by law and is conducted in communities throughout the state; this is conducted at 10 am the first Tuesday of every month. The only time that is procedure was discontinued was for about 8 months after the attacks of September 11, 2001. This was done to help control uneasiness. This test may also be suspended if storm weather is occurring during the testing time. Although suspending the test is not a common occurrence. These sirens are activated either by Will County or the local emergency dispatch centers. The NLFD did assist in this procedure in making sure that the sirens did work. This was to assist Will County office of Emergency Management.

I have had cotact with some of these character on a couple of ocasions in the last 5-6 years. On each ocasion I found them to be anything but curtious or helpful.

Iwas onse redirected down on alleyway near Rr 30 and Cedar ( south of bank) only to be verbally scoulded and threaten with arrest for driven the wrong way by another ems volunteer.

Last year as I was driving my 85 year old father to an event in the Commons area searching for handicap parking I was told to leave the area immediatly or the Police would be called.

When my nieghbors house caught fire one of them drove accross 2 front lawns because he could not get by fire equipment.

In mt opinion these guys are rude and on some type ego trip.

If I see one drinking and driving Village owned auto I'll call police.

One of those guys yelled at me and called the squad over because I asked him why the traffic was being diverted. What a jerk!!!

Actually, these members put their lives ok the line when it comes to severe weather. They are weather spotting when weather is at it's worst while most are seeking shelter. Also, they have helped lower taxes in the community. During early 2008, there was a vandelism outbreak in excess of tens of thousands of dollars in the park districts. After they were used every night of the summer vandelism was deceased.

If some of you have issues it should be taken up with the Village Board. I encourage you too!

Yeah, and the other 360 days of the year they're watching reruns of Hill Street Blues, TJ Hooker, Law & Order, CHiPs, Emergency, and Backdraft!

I'm talking about when there is thunder and lightning in the summer they set the tornado siren off. We had several false alarms last summer. Every summer they do this. I'm well aware of the test days. Setting alarms off during a simple thunderstorm is foolish. Don't bash me because I speak the truth. Pay attention and you will see.

Let me offer some facts. ESDA is a volunteer organization that provides assistance to the fire and police dept. for weather spotting, traffic control, security, etc...etc. If it wasn't for ESDA we would have to PAY the police and fire dept. to do these things. That means higher taxes folks.

And to ES What, the sirens are also set off if a neighboring town reports a funnel cloud. It's not always the weather spotter.

The alarm has been set off plenty of times when there is no tornado and no funnel anywhere near here. Thunder and lightning = New Lenox jumping the gun on this.

Big deal, you can get that class online or just attend one of the many seminars in the spring. It doesn't take any education, just that you show up and meet the objective. Now to be a real police officer or firefighter, you have to attend an academy AND pass the academy. Most departments require COLLEGE and ALL give a pre entrance civil service exam that half these ESDA clowns could only dream of passing. This is why they join ESDA! Hey, I heard Walmart has a sale on the "EMERGENCY!" box set collection. Better look out public, they'll be parking their squad cars in the fire lane at Walmart because they can!!!

Actually, some of the "clowns" are working for Joliet PD as police officers, so your facts are kind of off.

Funny about the Walmart!
