A little disappointed in the yearbook. Seems to have a lot of the same kids and their friends in many of the bigger/solo pictures(again). If you volunteer to put this together, your time and effort are appreciated. However... it should NOT be be used as an opportunity to showcase your kids and their close friends on so many pages. ALL the children who attend the school deserve to be in it just as much as your kids. We ALL pay the same for the yearbook as well. I didn't spend $18 to see your kid everywhere. What happened to basic courtesy? I thought the schools were going to do a better job of policing this sort of thing. Perhaps someone at the school can review this as the pages are done perhaps limiting each child to 2 special photos.

If you are going to volunteer for this stuff, just do it out of the kindness of your heart and nothing else. I don't know any kids that don't look through this for their photos. A little more sensitivity with this project would be refreshing.

The nelson prairie books were an absolute joke. Absolutely no content. Just the kids regular pictures. No event pictures or random shots. Have my daughters yearbook from prairie 5 years ago. Has at least 3 times the content. What are we paying for? What a joke

Not sure if you have an older child at Ridge, but the Prairie yearbooks were cheaper than the Ridge yearbooks. The reason I believe is because of what was posted above. Too many parents complained that their child wasn't in any of the event photos so the powers that be decided to just have the class photos.
Thanks

Thank the person who started this thread for that. Crazy complaining parents that have enough time to sit and count how many pictures different kids are in. The whaaaa, whaaaa life is so unfair cry.

$18.00 is still a lot to pay for class pictures. I'd rather pay just for my kid's class picture and not the whole school.

The lower grades books cost $8 this year instead of $18 like the intermediate grades. I thought maybe people complained about the cost and maybe that was why they went to a smaller format. If you think $18 is a lot just wait until your kids get to junior high where they cost $25.

Disappointed with the grade school "memory books". I realize they were trying to cut costs for everyone with the $8 books. I guess I should be happy with the fact they got anything at all. It's always fun to look through the random pictures though. My kids love to find their friends or themselves in the pictures. They always stir up fun memories of the different events that took place throughout the year. I hope they reconsider for next year.

My child attends Tyler and hasn't brought one home yet. Did anyone else get one from Tyler?

My Tyler kid got his yesterday. I know some teachers were holding on to them to sign though. Maybe that's where yours is?

Sounds like a great opportunity for YOU to volunteer YOUR time to making the book better. If you have time to count pictures you have time to help make it better. Of course you can always just sit there and do nothing but bitch about it.

I can assure you as parents we volunteer for plenty!!! And, we are sensitive that all parents pay the same for things so we try to be accommodating. When we do teams, for example, we rotate players so that all get a chance to play evenly and the parent appreciate it!(and have requested us for doing so)

I wouldn't have the nerve to place my kids in so many pictures where it is so glaringly obvious. You don't need to go through each page...just a quick scan was revealing enough.

This is something many parents have noticed and have talked about before now. We all help in various areas and do our share, so we trust the people that run this particular project to at least be fair in how they handle it. Is that really asking so much? geesh.

I think you are right. It's not fair for other posters to bring up whether or not a parent volunteers. Not everyone has the time or energy. Some people are single parents just trying to work 2 or 3 jobs to put food on the table let alone volunteer at school. The yearbook is for all the kids and they should be treated equal when it comes to the pictures. It's unfortunate, but not all adults have finished growing up so they behave this way.

Really, stop!!! You are ruining things for the kids! Don't you get it! They like the yearbook so stop complaining or it's going to be taken away just like other things are because the schools can't stand getting stupid complaints like this. I looked at the Ridge yearbook and I don't find it obvious at all. I was not on the yearbook committee and my child is in a class picture and one small group picture where only I can figure out that it is him, but WHO CARES!! I am so sick of hearing that everything has to be "fair". No it doesn't. Life is not always fair in all aspects and it isn't a bad lesson for your children to learn. They aren't going to survive out there if you have them believing that everything is completely equal. It is just unrealistic. For example, the whole argument that every parent doesn't have the time or energy to volunteer. Well how fair is that to the parents that do volunteer. I don't know a single person who isn't busy, but some people just make volunteering for their children a priority because if somebody doesn't volunteer, there are so many things kids won't get to do. It's not fair, but it's life. Start living it and stop the complaining.

Great post Stop. I agree 100%. Your kids and mine will not be treated equal. They may get cut from teams, they may sit the bench. They may not get into a good college. So be fair you are in for a lot of problems if you are preaching this garbage now. You truely are the problem with parents, let your grow up and learn about life.

Am I asking for year books to go away? no. I like the layout and I know the kids enjoy them. That's the point...you are in deep denial if you don't think they look through it to see if perhaps they are in a special photo here and there. To see a few particular kids featured so often IS NOTICED ...there are plenty of kids to fill the pages, no need to have the same ones over & over just because their parent volunteers. I'm simply being an advocate for the kids, sharing what they talk about, and hoping the parents are adult enough not to showcase their own kids so often and be so petty and silly.

THESE are the kids who will grow up thinking everything will come their way just because mommy or daddy have a hand in making it so. Time to stop catering and let them learn life isn't fair and sometimes you have to earn your place.

Please do not be an advocate for my kid. I'm hopefully raising my children to be confident people who would never let how many pictures another kid is in the yearbook bother them. I am hoping they wouldn't be petty enough to go through a yearbook to find out how many times a kid whose parent volunteered to put it together is in the pictures. This is so dumb and you really have too much time on your hands. Hey, you can volunteer for the yearbook committee next year since you aren't busy enough!!
