H1N1 vaccines in Will County

Took my kids to get their H1N1 vaccines at Hickory Creek Middle School last night. And at no charge.

I thought they had things very well organized. All in all, it took less than half an hour. A special thanks to the many people there who were simply volunteering their time.

That's good to hear. I wanted to go, but had an appointment and was worried we would be there too long.

Congratulations, you only had to wait about as long as the manufacturers took to test the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.

What is the time frame to get the vaccine at Hickory Creek? Do you know if they are offering at other schools in the area as well?

I'm just wondering why Will County doesn't have any of the shots. As far as I know all they have out here is the mist. My husband an I had to drive into Chicago to get my shot (I'm pregnant).Why just Cook County?

According to the Will County Health Department website, they have shots available too. When I took my kids, there were tables labeled injection and inhalant. After answering some questions, the nurse told my kids they'd be getting the inhalant. So, I'm assuming, depending on your age/circumstances you may get one or the other.

Well its no more half truth than the doctors telling us the vaccine is totaly safe and has been tested thourghly.When some people have died and some were permantly disabled from it.Correct?

No thanks on the vaccine. Just because something is free doesn't mean everyone should run out and get it. Why anyone would put a live virus up their kid's nose is beyond me. Nurses shouldn't be telling the parent what they will get. They could counsel the parent, but ultimately it is the parent's decision. I would never say, oh ok put a live virus in my body or my kids. Just becasue the government and media is saying to get the vaccine, doesn't mean you should.

Asking well...It's my understanding the Flu Virus is actually a dead virus type vaccine. Not that it makes a difference.
