Can anyone recommend a local pediatrician, as well as general family doctor. Thanks.

Dr. Claude Aschenberg's office in Joliet is top notch for pediatrics.

We use Dr. Martin Borenstein at Orland Primary Care Specialist on 167th St. & 107th Ave.. Great Doctor, they have Sunday and early morning hours. Pediatrics is on 2nd floor, 1st floor are family doctors.
So far so good

We see the Pedicatric Center in Mokena (by Dinolfo's) They have 4-5 physicians. They are affiliated with Christ Hospital/Children's memorial. Everyone I know in the health field wants a doctor connected to this hospital.

This office is closer to me in NL than any in Orland/Joliet (great for quick visits when sick).

I can't help you with the general doctor, but
Jercinovic Pediatrics in Shorewood is the best. Even some of the nurses I had when I delivered my babies take their kids to them. They go above and beyond the call of duty.

Thanks to all who responded. I have recently heard some good things about Orland Primary Care Specialist, so I think I might check them out. There's a local doctor in Mokena that was recommended to me, but his hours are limited.

Does anyone have any recommendations for pediatric dentists? I just brought my son earlier this morning for his yearly checkup, and left less than thrilled with the experience.

My kids go to Dr. Tatel in Tinley. We used to live in Tinley and now we are in Manhattan. It is kind of a drive but I like him and all the ladies in the office. The kids don't complain so I hate to change, it's only twice a year. Good Luck.

My kids go to Dr. Ed Hanley. He has offices in Tinley and New Lenox. My kids LOVE him, which is crazy to say, I know. We had some very BAD experiences with a couple pediatric specialists, so I can't say enough how wonderful this dentist is. They have TVs for the kids to watch, keeps them distracted...and he's a father of some young kids, he knows how to talk to them. He's not just for kids either, my husband and I go to him as well.

We went there once and never went back. He wanted to tie my 2 year old down to a table and pull a bad tooth with nothing to numb her. We went running from there and never went back. I'm glad you have had a better experience with that office.

We use Dr. Lori Woodburn in Frankfort. She's not a pediatric dentist, but she is wonderful with my kids. My kids really like her.

I have been going to Dr. Kevin Germino in Orland Park and cannot say enough good things about him. I have 3 daughters and they just love him. The best thing is that he does not push antibiotics. Only prescribes when absolutely necessary. Hope this helps.

Dr. Mark Christensen at the SC Clinic in the heart of NL is an excellent family physician.

In the last three years he's made a bullseye diagnosis of three medical conditions our family has had. One was a cancer which has (thankfully) been taken care of.

He's got a down-to-Earth manner and takes his time listening to what his patients say.

My kids go to Dr Algenio in New Lenox for pediatric dentistry. He is great with kids and will work with you if something is not covered by insurance. He also has an orthodontist and (god forbid you need it) a periodontist in the same office. My family has used them all and all were excellent. The orthodontist is Dr. Pope and the periodontist is Dr. Korompolis. All do a great job!!

Wow, really, that's no good. I started bringing my son to Dr. Tatel after a bad experience with a Palos pediatric dentist, and I really like him and his staff. My friend brings her daughter there and likes it too. My son just had 3 teeth pulled, they used the nitrous. Kept him home from school but he was totally fine. So sorry to hear about that, I can't believe he suggested that!

I had a horrible experience with this guy. He told me I had food poisening and to wait it out 24 hours and I did. The next day I was rushed to the E.R., because I was having a gall blatter attack and this guy did not know this? Be careful.

All of you should read a book called "Complications" by a Boston surgeon.

It will give you a whole new view of the medical profession.

As of now you HOPE that your physician got straight A's, was mentored by the best surgeons, and is a walking tome of medical wisdom.

Get ready to learn the cold hard facts.

Dr. David Calimag, right in New Lenox (across from the Fire Station/Metra Parking lot) is a fantastic doctor. He has cared for my son for years, and even my teenage daughter in a pinch (she sees Dr. Rose Horan at Advocate Women's Health Center on Route 45--another AMAZING doctor for young women).

Both are wonderful.

Pediatric dentist....NOT Dr. Steve Kuhn. Not real kid friendly, but that's just our opinion. We used to go to the Pediatric Dentists in the Palos Hospital satellite building in Orland. Her name was Dr. Patricia......started with a "G". My son loved her.

Good luck with your searches; hard to find good ones!!
