Your brother is wrong about a corrupt police force. I have a brother on the police force and he is called constantly and works hard. They complain about the police, yet we want the police when there is trouble and they want the city to do better with more trouble and less cops and punks having machine guns. Put your gut out there and lets see the complaing punks do that job.

I grew up in New Castle in the 50's and early 60's,and still have family there. None of them have ever been robbed or shot at. Grow up people. Crime is the sign of the times. I have lived in NJ, Upstate Pa, Florida and we have crime too. All the whiners who have left, where is the pure utopia you live in now. It must be crime free, right? I am visiting again in a week and I will have some of those chili dogs. Should I wear my bullet proof vest. Lets get a grip...guys. And by the way, the police department was pretty puny in the late 50's and early 60's too. Too bad one of the complainers didnt stick it out and fix it.

Because there is nothing there to stay around for.
Sorta like you.
For the size of that city the crime rate is exponentially higher than most other cities per population.
new Castle wasn't called "Murder Capital of the World" for nothing.

Actually the murder capitol is Philadelphia honey.

New Castle is corrupt, it was mafia run but has now gotten out of control because many of the good ole boys who kept things in check are gone. Some went to prison, some had kids that went to prison, and some realized that there was more money to make elsewhere. I know this because of a close personal tie to someone who brought in the heroin and cocaine ring in the 80's. The old man of the town was pissed but scared that someone was going to find his body under papermill and his kids were reckless, now he makes his money elsewhere. Everyone had a bookie, the bars got a $500 fine a year but kept there gambling machine business. Numerous businesses had breakins whenever business was slow, hmmmm. Much of the police department in NC and Neshannock were "customers" and family. However, even with the crime, I will cherish my years growing up there. I will always admire the loyalty to family and friends. The way of life in NC was and will always be different than anywhere else. The offspring and consequences of time past has a confused generation of how life is suppose to be and now the families have lost control. I can remember if you screwed up, it was taken care of, now there is no checks and balances, just the crime. I go back from time to time. I always miss the lamb and garlic sauce, the kibbee, the stuffed grape leaves, the syrian bread - I am hungry now - thanks. My husband and I have considered moving there but it won't be the same and quite frankly, I feel safer when I travel to Jersey because less people know me and the police are not all somebodies relative or pizan.

My daughter moved into a 1/2 way house here and I visit once a week, I love it here. I have heard the police are not so nice at nite, but the safey here is uncomparable to our town, there is an officer on every block here. I would definately consider moving here. I think only the criminals have to worry, and once they get decent people living here, it would be a great city!!!!!

Ask any old timer who lives or lived in New Castle honey. New Castle was called the murder capital of the world for the availability of being able to get in and get out of New Castle within minutes. The quarries, the old Shenago Pottery plant and the old copper and bronze foundries have plenty of "missing" people there.
It's not like it isn't known, honey.
