Nicoya owner offers a taste of Nicaragua

I have actually been to this place, it has some great dishes! I love the plantains! They were delicious. They recently have put fish tacos on their menu that I've now made my favorite.

Omagoodness I love this place. I came in because I was in the neighborhood, and I cannot recall a time when I had a better meal. Catarina was at the counter with is soft smile and a friendly voice full of enthusiasm for her homespun food. Everything is home made and she has so much enthusiasm for every dish. I opted for the dish that included fried plantains, fried chees, rice, with choriso and eggs. I can tell you as a generally lazy person who eats out mostly in the morning that this was absolutely the best breakfast I have ever consumed. The plantains were sweet and slightly crispy, the cheese was luscious, the rice was flavorful and fluffy. Now, I must tell you that choriso is not the same as you are used to. It is not red and greasy, but full of flavor and spice, I shouldn't say this, but it was more like a German sausage, lean but loose with alot of flavor. I just love this place!!! Our waitress was a perky and enthusiastic lady named Angelina, who was so happy to show her artwork displayed on the wall.
In short..this is a lovely place full of love in a very ugly building on Common Street. diamond in the rough.

We enjoy the lunch buffet here at least twice a month. It is reasonably priced and the food is homemade.

The buffet usually has salad, soup, a rice and beans dish, plantains, and three entree/meat items. More recently, they have had chips and salsa/queso and/or one other side dish.

My favorite dishes on the buffet are a baked chicken dish and one made with hamburger meat. I don't know the names, but they were yummy.

My husband and I went there for supper one evening. We had a coupon that we had purchased from resturaunt.com that the owner had put on there. We spent the money that we were supposed to and did not include drinks and taxes. The owner which was a woman said she was not going to accept the coupon that it was too late in the evening to take it. We even gave her the coupon before we ordered the food and she made a big deal of how she was glad someone had bought the coupon and thinks it would bring more business. The food was good...however she did not own up to her word. We won't be going back..and for someone who does not have very much business at all shouldn't be doing customers this way. THIS IS NOT A HATE COMMENT..just saying what happened.
