i dont think either father was involved in murder plot either...no man would let that happen to his children...it is a well known fact that both dads loved both kids...

<quoted text>First of all, it was Brad and Amanda. It was her other ex-husband. His facebook page was still up several months later. If I had a dime for every time I have heard someone say "I heard that......", I wouldn't have to work. Again, if you have solid evidence, by all means go to the investigators. Otherwise, you people should refrain from spouting hurtful gossip!
i was on his fb page and im telling you he deleted his acct the day after she confessed...i am not saying either dad helped plot or carry out these murders...the dads loved their children and each others children...remember this is topix a place to dicuss things...if i stepped on ur toes im sorry...but i will say what i want to about this case and if u dont like it look past my posts..have a good night :)

I agree she had to be easly maniplated kid, and i agree she probably did not do this with out some one having a hand, I am a mom, I cant imagine the pain that family is dealing with, my only question is if the news and people of interest know theres a reason why she did this, why doesnt some one step up and say hey! why doesnt one person try to stop the rumors by telling the truth, I read these post but i never give my opinion, but now i have to say if it was my child I woud want the world to know she wasnt a monster, sick and mentaly unstable, but not a evil monster andjust tell the truth about her being brain washed or what ever. Shes facing up to what she did now people need to know the truth so their mouths can stop flapping. Im not defending her by no means Im just saying she has the right for her side to be told.

Im sorry im just know I would go to the ends of the earth to prove my daughter did not plan some horrible murder, and yes people need to only state true facts, but if they are never given the facts? what else do you expect?

People close to the families don't tell much on here because they don't want to jeopardize the case in any way. The truth will come out

This is the truth, there are very good lawyers and investigators on both sides who care about both families and about the truth. If anyone on this forum really cares about this case then please spend your time praying and you will actually be doing something that can help...

I grew up with this family. This girl is not evil, was not "born evil" and is not "one mean B===="!!! Yes, her actions were wrong but she was influenced by Satan and when that happens only God can reach them. For this young girl to confess what happened took more guts than any of us could possibly imagine. She knows what she is facing and for her to step up and tell her mother what she did took incredible strength because she, as far as all were concerned, was in the clear. Her mother is a wonderful person and is loving and kind! Pray for them to know what to do in this time, don't just gossip about what happened. Take part in prayer to help this young girl find the relationship with God that she needs and for her family to find comfort and strength in their time of need!!!
You completly right people shouldnt judge especially the family... a person can snap and i too believe its the devil.

One year, many tears later
Doss family murders remain fresh memory for community
By: Lynn LaRowe - Texarkana Gazette

A warm wind enlivens bright silk flowers on a trio of crosses hanging from a gate on property along Farm to Market Road 991 where a mother and her two children were murdered one year ago today.

The house where Amanda Doss, 34, lived with her two children, Guinevere Doss, 11, and Texas Johnson, 8, is gone. Cinder blocks rising from tall grass are among the few remnants.

“’Till We Meet Again” is emblazoned on a banner that bears pictures of the slain family.

The sound of occasional traffic, the flutter of an American flag, three wreaths and three crosses, are part of the quiet, sobering scene.

A heavy metal chain-and-steel padlock keep out the curious.

On this day last year, the property was encircled by police cars, fire trucks and crime-scene tape.

In the predawn of May 11, 2011, Doss’ parents, Glen and Wanda Prewett, rushed to the home, just down the street from their own, after receiving a distressing call from Guinevere. Their granddaughter, a popular honor student, was screaming for her mother before the line went dead, according to court documents used to create the following account.

Without regard for the flames and heat that met them, the Prewetts entered the burning residence in an attempt to rescue their family.

Guinevere’s throat was slit and her body on fire. The Prewetts dragged her from the house. The fire’s intensity drove them out before they could pull Texas or Doss from the blaze.

Both grandparents bear scars, daily reminders of the burns they suffered.

Autopsies on Doss’ and Guinevere’s bodies revealed both died of knife wounds. Texas’ body was too badly burned for an autopsy.

In the months that followed, the Prewetts pleaded for leads from the community, and pledges toward a reward grew to more than $145,000.

There would be no sign of a break in the case until a former neighbor of the murdered family called the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office in mid-August, claiming to know who is responsible. The caller’s daughter, Rachael Nicole Pittman, 17, is charged with the triple homicide.

Pittman, who was 16 at the time of the murders, is under indictment in Bowie County for capital murder, multiple persons, in the deaths of Doss and Guinevere. The teen has been certified to stand trial as an adult, but because of her status as a juvenile at the time of the killings, she faces a punishment of life with parole eligibility after 40 years in a Texas prison if convicted.

Adults found guilty of capital murder in Texas face death by lethal injection or life without the possibility of parole.

A second indictment accuses Pittman of first-degree murder in Texas’ death. The offense is punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison.

Pittman has pleaded not guilty.

The defense team of Scrappy Holmes and Tonda Curry of Longview, Texas, has filed motions asking the court to throw out any statements Pittman may have made to law enforcement and any evidence collected from her home or car, claiming such were acquired in violation of Pittman’s constitutional rights.

“She planned and carried out her intentions by stabbing all three victims and then setting their bodies on fire,” a probable-cause affidavit states.“Her account included details known only to a person at the scene of the murders.”

Pittman’s residence of record is less than a mile from where the Doss family lived.

A pretrial hearing in the case is scheduled in June before 202nd District Judge Leon Pesek Jr. The judge is expected to set a special hearing to address the defense’s motions and to set a date for Pittman’s jury trial.

Pittman has been in custody since August. Her bail is $3 million.

One year later: A mother/grandmother speaks out
Amanda Doss
Guinevere Doss
Texas Johnson
On May 11, 2011, three beautiful people were murdered in our community. In the year following the deaths of my family, I have searched without success to make any kind of sense out of the cruel murders. How does one make sense of innocent people, especially little children, being murdered?
I have not given interviews to any newspaper, radio or television reporters. These reporters ask questions that can’t be answered. One of the most frequent questions is:“HOW DO YOU FEEL?” about this loss. I’ll tell you some of the things I have experienced because of these murders and everyone will be able to fill in the blank of “how do you feel ...”
My self-appointed job for the past six years was to pick up the kids and take them to school each day. It was our little “grammie” time. I got to hear about everything that was important to them. I look at the clock each morning at 7:15 am. I have no grandchildren to take to school. It is so painful to see that big, yellow school bus around 4 p.m. each day, knowing that it won’t be stopping to let them off.
Most evenings, Amanda and the kids would eat supper at my house. Now, I stare at three empty chairs. Half of my family was taken from me forever. On Sunday afternoons, the kids were almost always at my house, riding the go-cart, playing in the creek in my backyard, playing in the castle their papa built for them. Now I sit and stare at a silent and empty backyard. What words can I use to describe how that “feels”?

part 2
When I asked about picking out caskets, I was told that the funeral home only had a very few from which to choose because Guinevere and Texas were so small. Feel? What do you think I felt?
Not only was my only daughter, Amanda, and her children killed, their bodies were deliberately set on fire. That is what we discovered when we rushed to Amanda’s home that night. That is how my husband and I got such severe burns. We were trying to get their bodies, which were on fire, out of a totally engulfed house. Those images are the last I have of my daughter, granddaughter and grandson.
When you read in the newspaper about the court proceedings, here are some things you should keep in mind:
Texas was 8 years old. He had turned 8 only five days before he was murdered. Texas had big, blue eyes and irresistible dimples. He giggled a lot. He loved to sing in the car on the way to school. He was learning to play the guitar and piano. He climbed trees, got muddy, went 4-wheeling with his daddy. He enjoyed Awanas and being in the Boy Scouts. He liked camping and going to Silver Dollar City. He was so proud of catching this big fish! He was a typical, sweet little boy with his entire life in front of him.
Guinevere was 11 years old when she was murdered. She loved playing the clarinet in the Redwater Middle School band. She was a straight-A student. She enjoyed attending Awanas and Girl Scouts. When Guinevere was 9 years old, she told me that she had enough toys and books. She requested that any money I might spend on her birthday, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Easter, etc., be given to her instead. Guinevere used all of that money and decided to have birthday parties for the kids in the Baptist Orphanage. She told me that everyone remembers the kids at the orphanage at Christmas, but they are forgotten all year long after that. Guinevere gave up her gifts for an entire year so that she could do something all year for the orphans. What 9-year-old would do something like that?
Amanda was 34 years old and in the prime of her life when she was murdered. She was a gorgeous woman. She graduated as valedictorian from Redwater High School at the age of 15. She was politically active, saying that “if you don’t DO something about politics you have no reason to complain.” She was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, traveling with the local PG Riders to accompany fallen military heroes to their final resting place. She flew to Washington, D.C., to visit military casualties in the Walter Reed Military Hospital. She was active in both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts and was extremely proud to be an “Aggie.” When the sheriff asked me to give them some names of any enemies Amanda might have, I drew a total blank. Amanda opened her home to everyone. That is why she was so easily murdered. Amanda was a friend to all. She hosted backyard parties often and invited everyone to come and have fun. Amanda was just “good people.”
Now, a year later, the newspaper articles are all about “the case.” Forgotten is the reason for the case in the first place.

part 3

Why am I speaking out now? There are a few things you need to know. While I mourn the loss of my daughter, granddaughter and grandson, I do not mourn as those who have no hope. A deep faith in God is what has sustained me through this enormously difficult past year. Amanda accepted Christ as her savior when she was 12. Guinevere accepted Christ as her savior when she was 10. Texas had not yet reached the age of accountability. When the grief becomes overwhelming, as it has many times this past few months, God whispers in my ear:“You will see them again! Sooner than you think!”
You need to know that evil exists all around us. Evil is very real. Every day that you get to be with those you love is a gift from God. Don’t take that gift lightly. Be thankful for each moment.
Please clip this article and keep it handy. When you read about this continuing court case, pull out this article and re-read it. Remember Texas. Remember Guinevere. Remember Amanda. They deserve to be remembered. They deserve justice.
Wanda Prewett
Mother/grandmother
