That church is certainly impressive. And while they definitely needed a bigger space to congregate, I think it's a little ostentatious considering the current economic climate. But if they want to spend their money that way, who am I to criticize?

All done without government assistance or handouts, there goes the "multi-cultural" argument that "all cultures are equal."

Don't mistake the Church for the church-house. Pfff, I'm sure this building is a disappointment to the eye with its 2-dimensional hints at the way churches were once built.

Kasich say to let charities and churches help the poor. Yet when the churches and charities get an extra buck or two, what do they do with it? They build grandiose temples to an invisible man in the sky. Prioroties, priorities, priorities.

21.5 mil could feed a lot of people, but I guess the money is better spent building a church so the faithfull can sit on their butts and worship their imaginary god.

"Praise God from Whom all blessings flow". As dear Fr. Lavelle stresses at the end of Mass, "Thanks...be...to...God ". TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!

If you dig down and look at where that money ended up going, you'll see that it either created or sustained jobs for hundreds of people, from the carpenters and masons that built the church to the craft-workers who produced the raw materials. And all of those people and companies paid income taxes on their earnings, so the government got a cut, too. This is economic stimulus in its purest and most effective form. These folks have a right to be proud of their accomplishment. I think I'll walk down there this weekend and tell them so myself.

Westerville was not hit as hard as some other places by the bad economy, said the Rev. Charlie Klinger, pastor, though some of the church's 4,400 families are certainly struggling.'........ Check around Westerville within other denominations and I bet that you would find plenty of people in Westerville who have been hit hard by the tough economy!!! Many jobless and seeking aisstance!!

And those benefits are enjoyed by people of ALL beliefs and yes even Su Lee. Deos Gratias!

It's hard to appreciate Meredith Hagney's snarky undertone. Did she stack the deck to write such a misleading premise as to why (exactly) this new building was needed? Of course she did. That's the way this person thinks -- just like a negative-minded reporter. Meredith Hagney there have always been people out of work and people will always find themselves in a pinch. It doesn't mean they stop going to church. What these parishiners have constatrnyl found thmsleves (for the past 10+ years) is stacked five-deep stand-room only on Holy Days and holidays with traditional large turnouts. That parish has had to have at least 2 Masses celebrated concurrently on weekends for at least that long. Instead you make this article an economic issue pitting the the haves and have nots. Typical media bias! You missed the big picture meredith Hagney. Totally missed it and you should be ashamed for the shabby reporting.
