I will say that when I looked up some crime reports of Princeton it doesn't appear that there was ever much crime. So it would be hard for one to argue that the present number of officers turned a bad situation around. It seems there never has been much crime in Princeton. That fact coupled with a decreasing population does suggest that a city manager could investigate cost cutting measures. I am not saying to do anything. But investigating the matter does seem reasonable. As for dress...it is what it is....elected officials should make an effort to look nice when discussing matters that effect an entire community. "Fresh princeton" you make very valid points and I appreciate your passion. But may I suggest just trying to temper your tone. I think the old addage you get more flies with honey than vinegar comes to mind.... "Really" ...I am unsure if you a policer officer? If you are ...then be proud to represent...there is no need to hide? Which begs the question....if there are so many police supporters where are they on these threads? One would think you would be anxious to set the record straight and share the great things you are doing for the community and there is no reason to hide behind a screen name. My last piece of advice would be for everyone to be patient with a new city administrator. When I talked to a collegue that knew Princeton he emailed me that "Princeton changes admins. like most people change socks"...there is probably a reason for that. Look within. I am not making an excuse for the present admin. taking a shot at a council member via a public format ie., posting his calendar with an inappropriate meeting title(if that really happened). I am just saying give a new guy a chance or you will be looking sooner than you may want to be looking for a replacement. Good luck to the Princeton community and your problems can be solved with a little teamwork. For the record....the administrator is very "gung ho" when it comes to cutting costs. I believe that if it was a cost effective move to downsize, he of all people would have investigated it already. Obviously, If the city police for of 3 officers was cut, the county would have to step in. Believe me....if that happens....it will not be for free, and most likely cost more. The issues that some posters have with the police here are more on a personal level. One person is a regular at a tavern downtown, and believes that the police in town cause the taverns to lose business. Another has other personal issues with them that I am not going to get into. FYI, the taverns in town,(which there are many of) do the most business in town. The police are there doing there job, which the majority of the tax payers here want. Also, for the record, I am not a police officer. That is only an assumption/claim of a couple of posters that have a hard time dealing with people that have opinions that differ from their own. I apologize for the back and forth trash-talking, but I am one that believes in giving what you get.

If Weidle gets around to doing his job...he should be able to tell us the exact cost and the exact savings. You really believe everyone has a personal problem with the cops? If true, thats even worse than people just wanting to save money. You are a cop or family member of a cop. There is no other reason for you to be an annonymous coward! But at this point it would be so embarrassig for you to admit who you are.LMAO. Game over.

Yes if you research Princeton and crime you will see there is NO logical explanation to support 3 police. It just stupid. If/when John Weidle does leave or is asked to leave its no big loss IMO.

You are wrong and James does not work in government. He's just another liar like you, FPV. James, what city did you work in? What's your last name so I can look up your public record? Where did you go to school? In fact if your first name is James and you give me a municipality I'll be able to find all that stuff out on my own. Put your money where your mouth is and stop backing a liar. If he did work in government in any actual important capacity he wouldn't be posting on here anonymously. That seems like a serious conflict of interest and and breach of the ethical obligations that a public official must follow. Check wcma and ilcma for standards and conduct In Illinois and Wisconsin. The fact is that the administrator has turned the budget around, brought in development, is working on the downtown, helped decrease taxes last year, holding the line on taxes this year and has made the entire city operations more efficient. Again you're an a-hole and a liar, FPV....IMO... And you've been caught by me simply stopping by City Hall and chatting with people there, reading the newspaper, yes I do read it, and talking with other alderman and people in Princeton who don't have an agenda against the cops. Everyone's catching on to you, they know you're full of crap, they know you're worthless, They know you lie, and they know you have an agenda against the cops. You're running out of space to operate you're running out of lies to spew and you're running out of people who think that you're worth the air you consume. That FPV, is what game over feels like.
