Is anyone else in neodesha feeling that their utilities are too high considering the mild weather we have had? We have 3 people living in our house and a utility bill of almost $390.

Wow, I live there with two in our household our bill was 205.00. I thought that was fairly reasonable. Sounds like you need to put an extra layer on and crank the heat down, turn off lights and maybe plug some holes! What kind of heat do you use?

Monthly bills can vary depending on how many days of utilities are on the bill. My last bill was higher but it had 35 days on it. Have had some with as few as 26 days in the past. It tells on the bill how many days were in the period billed. Also, Neodesha has gas, electric, water, sewer, trash, and storm water bills all on one bill. Rates really are not higher, but it just seems that way because ALL the utilities are on one bill.

You can thank J.D. Cox for our current utility prices.

J.D. is not even in this state and hasn't been for several months! The mayor is the Baptist Preacher from 4th st church since 2010. Try blaming Uncle Scam if anyone. I agree they are to high, but then so is $3.55 and rising for gas. So is food and commodities transported from one point to another. We have our own gas sources and the government chooses not to use them. We have alternative methods to use for heat and electricity, but are to lazy to do more than flip a switch and count on the big businesses to supply us. We can grow most of our own food and on and on...In many ways we can also blame ourselves.
Rather than throw blame, do something for yourself.

sorry I guess I left out a little info. Our thermostat is never above 67 degrees, if we are cold we walk around with sweaters, coats. I was just wondering how our bill compares to others in town and if we should look into something being wrong with the meters.

Our thermostat is not set above about 67-68,(we might have gone a little below that at times), this winter has of course been exceptional. There have been gaps where we completely turned off the furnace. We have central heat, one story, storm windows. We also put on more clothing or a blanket, rather than crank up the thermostat. Our highest bill so far this winter was $214.00 (Neodesha).

One thing that we don't do anymore at our house is use the dishwasher. We stopped using it a little over a year ago. Saves a little on energy and water!! Don't miss it a bit!!

Think JD was bad, this new guy has up sewer by double and want's to do about the same to the water rates. Next comes winter and he will want to double our gas prices. Someone has to pay for the 26 city workers. Kind of crazy that there is a city worker for every 18 people that live in Neodesha.

Try living some where they spilt up all the bills to different companies. A 200 gas bill then a 300 electric bill 100 trash and water bill. Neodesha is actually cheap when you take it into consideration.

You are lucky you are not using Caney Valley Elecric. Our last electric bill was $565.00 for three people using approx 27K BTU AC and shutting off much of our 3 bedroom house here in Chautauqua County. Our water bill was $118.00 for approx 8000 gallons and sewer.
