All this "gas problems" we're having is all because he WON'T let us dip into the reserves, so I suggest YOU get educated. Gee, and just what policy is it that Bush put in place that raised these prices? That's just goofy; The reserves won't last us more than 4 months. If you deplete them entirely, what happens? No market control if needed for a short term emergency. Clinton/Gore dipped into the reserves twice when gas went up. What happened? Less than 10 cents market affect. Then, of course, the reserves had to be replaced...and it raised prices higher than they were in the first place. Please take an economics class.

) It was $2.28 when Pelosi was inducted into office with the dimocrat majority.
2) Conservative Republicans have been trying to get another refinery built in this country now for 31 years, and the dimocrats and RINOS won't let it happen, even when Bush tried to allow it.
3) We have the 2nd largest oil reserve in the world in Anwar, Alaska. Its footprint would be 2200 acres of 19 million. Pluck out one hair on your head, that's a slightly smaller amount of space comparitively. Liberals won't let us drill our own oil.
4) We have the largest shale oil reserve in the world bordering 4 states in the Rocky Mountains. Liberals won't let us drill.
5) Exxon/Mobil is making 24 cents off of each gallon. More gallons are used. Record profits. The US gov't is averaging twice that per gallon. Why is it you are blaming the company that provides it?
6) The dollar is competitively down to the Euro by 30 percent compared to 4 years ago; mortgages have plenty to do with it. Anyone mentioning the liberal policy insisting that banks have to lend to those that least qualify? This is what happens when the government steps into the marketplace and demands a change. This change let borrowers borrow more than they could afford, by penalty of law against the banks.
Liberal feel-good policies are costing all of us.
Anyone on here want to mention what policy it was that raised gas prices by the Bush administration when he's been trying to get the additional drilling and refining passed through congress?
That's right, it doesn't exist.
Educate yourselves as to what is actually going on as opposed to whining that the president is all powerful in global economics.
The above post is the only one in this bunch that is the truth. Nobody has a clue about how this process really works. The politicians are pandering to the ignorant masses. If they truly cared about us citizens, they would be sacrifice the taxes they happily collect from us. It would be simple to do, but that ain't gonna happen.
Don't even get me started on the "Windfall Profits Tax."

Gee, imagine the effect if Clinton had not vetoed the drilling in Anwar in 1995, saying, "It would take 10 years for that oil to reach the market."
That was 13 years ago. Too bad. He said the same general thing about Bin Laden when the Saudis offered him up on a platter.
Dimocrats from then on said that Anwar was off limits, and made sure that it was.

Sad part is, gas is a waste product. A tanker gets shot and the price goes up, we go to war and the price goes up. They control the government so don't blame the government. Here is a simple thought, once the troops come home, we go back to pre-war prices. That was the reason for the increase in the first place so, logically speaking, it should return to $1.25/gallon. But that will never happen. Look for ways to reduce your consumption, that is all you can do and they know it. It won't change and the way it looks, it will be around $5.00/gallon this time next year....then what are you going to do. I remember a company in Dallas, TX that was doing the research on a hydrogen engine, they just ran out of funds and decided to ask the people for assistance instead of owing the banks. That was at $2.15/gallon and they had a grand total of 5 people make a measly $10 donation one time. Keep complaining. 90% talk, 10% stress, 0% action. That is what I see, that is exactly what Big Oil sees. Well, then... maybe it's time that we "TAKE ACTION!" I'm leaving it at that: TIME FOR ACTION! Read into it what you will.

Does not matter what happened 13 yrs ago. What matters now is who gets to control Congress and who gets elected in the White House.... its up to all those Democrats and Republicans to work together and solve these massive economic issues that have been popping up for the last 13 yrs.

Yeah, it does too matter. Learn from history, and it will tell you whom to vote for this November. The last time Congressional passage of drilling in Anwar made it was in 1995. Since then, the Senate has been too liberal, including Republicans, to let us yield what would be a 100 year source project. During the Carter years, they said we would be out of oil by the end of the century. Not only were they wrong, they didn't realize with the tech advances, how much more oil is actually known about now versus then, and how much cleaner we can yield it. The radical leftists have given our market power to our enemies. Blame Bush if you want to, but the tax incentives that are given to the oil companies are cashed in by the oil companies on one condition: That they spend the tax breaks on alternative fuel research and development!! And now the dimocrats want to take away our hope for independence from foreign oil and alternative energies basing it on the hope of votes, and voter ignorance. Research it yourself, it's not hard to find.
