The gas prices are absolutely ridiculous. Someone is getting rich off of this. I don't understand why the government can't do anything, haven't they put price caps on things before? I don't even go out anymore unless I have too. I haven't had a full tank of gas in nearly 6 months, just because I can't afford it. I feel like I am working just to pay for gas. I am almost ready to call it quits with my car, and start taking the DART bus, god forbid. I don't want to do it, I am beginning to not have a choice. I know that nothing I say will change anything, but I just needed to vent!

Let's see. Has ANYONE'S wages gone up with the cost of gas? I didn't think so. So who's making the money? And PLEASE don't say it is because of - storm damage, supply, or cost of business. It is because someone needs a REALLY GOOD bonus this time of year. PURE GREED!!!!! Who IS really making the money? They are trying to make sure that what we are paying is equal with the price of gas in Europe - where they drive far less distances than we do.

Don't you people get it yet? The oil companies know that you can"t live without it. They also know that you can't organize because of your own greed. Sad part is, gas is a waste product. A tanker gets shot and the price goes up, we go to war and the price goes up. They control the government so don't blame the government. Here is a simple thought, once the troops come home, we go back to pre-war prices. That was the reason for the increase in the first place so, logically speaking, it should return to $1.25/gallon. But that will never happen. Look for ways to reduce your consumption, that is all you can do and they know it. It won't change and the way it looks, it will be around $5.00/gallon this time next year....then what are you going to do. I remember a company in Dallas, TX that was doing the research on a hydrogen engine, they just ran out of funds and decided to ask the people for assistance instead of owing the banks. That was at $2.15/gallon and they had a grand total of 5 people make a measly $10 donation one time. Keep complaining. 90% talk, 10% stress, 0% action. That is what I see, that is exactly what Big Oil sees.

We can all get bikes or horses. I haven't seen a cost of living/gas pay raise; that may be something to bring up at the next meeting - get a really good debate going. :) I may have to consider tele-commuting instead of driving in everyday.

That is fine about making new car have to get 35 miles to the gallon, problem is they make cars so expensive, that not everyone can just go out an buy a new car. The other think i think the government has succeeded in forcing people to car pool. Taking more cars off the road. people can't afford to drive so more and more cars are getting off the road. i think it is manipulation by the government.

what we see in today gas prices it;s because no body control the corporation and our government they don't give damm about you ,they are getting their cut under the table we call it, corporation corruption and yes they know that americans are spoiled people, whom will continued buying all this big suv or this big automovil with a big v8 engine,we don't want 2 sacrifice comfort, plus we are a country with the most fat/or over weight people, so some will not fit in a small car with small engine, gas will continue going higher, and we don't want 2 do anything about it , we just like to cry about it,the u.s.a beging to look like a third world were all we have is a wealthy people and the poor the way prices keep going and going up we are been screw by our government did you all know that?

I would not consider that coping. I would consider it more of a struggle. looks to be an expensive summer comming.

I no that we are all going threw this gas prices. In my house hold it cost me and my husband $800.00 for gas a month. I can not pay for half of my bills due too this gas prices. If it continues I will have too find a new job closer too home and that is sad because I have been at my job for 8 years. People are getting very greedy these days and that is scary for me, what has this world come to!

I purchased a used car this weekend that gets over 30 mpg. Sure miss that power of my old truck. But just like everyone has said, no one is getting a pay raise to coincide with the gas prices. I am just blessed that I am not making minimum wage. I would walk or ride a bike to work if that were the case.
This war has screwed up our economy and for what? To stop the Iraqis CIVIL WAR??? It wont happen. They dont want democracy over there. It will NEVER work!!! They have been fighting each other way too long and us coming over and saying play nice?? Not a chance in hell. We are losing lives, money, and jobs because of this shit. There is no reason for us to be there. But our gov doesn't care. They want to make a damn statement to the rest of the world. What statement??? Look at us, we can screw up our economy by staying here for no reason.
I am a vet and just got back from Iraq. Disagree if you want.

Other areas of cutting back that I know of is eating out, (whether fast food or sit down), cutting out my cup of coffee at Starbucks. I used to go into the station I bought gas at to get a drink or snack but now it is just pay at pump and no extras.

This is B U L L S H I T... I feel that the hard times are not here yet. Did anyone see the Dateline show last night of people using Pawnshops more than ever?(SAD) As long as Bushy is president we will all suffer. The Gov. gets a good chunk per gallon in tax money. I have'nt heard the Gov. will lower their tax on gas to help the working man... Has anyone heard of anything like that???

The gas prices are causing problems for people that is only going get worse. People are going to stop paying most of their bills just so that they can get back and forth to work. They are working now just gas their cars. You know it's bad when it cost $45 to fill up a little KIA Spectra. I bought the car thinking that I would save on gas. Luckily I did or I'd be in the poor house. My husband has a Dodge and he's paying $85 to fill his up. Somebody is going to have to fix this before people start resorting to illegal activity just to make it.

hang on before you change it to a war topic, look at history wars actually help the economy, look at world was 2 brought America out of the depression. it has been shown wars don't hurt it. Without trying to sound vulgar while the boys and girls are away fighting, someone has to work here. This is Taxes and oil prices, not the war. The fact is it could be a lot worse if the war was not going on. Chris wrote: I purchased a used car this weekend that gets over 30 mpg. Sure miss that power of my old truck. I plan our errands carefully. I(we) don't go out unless we have to and then we make the most of the trip. We make the necessary stops without backtracking or zig zagging all over town. As far as vacationing is concerned, I plan on makeing short camping trips and saving the long trips when gas prices get lower. Or we will save up for the trip.

Well we can't afford to got to the Movies, the mall, out to eat, or even Wal Mart. So forget about a trip or even Six Flags or Ranger Game. People blame the economy No it's the gas prices. If gas was cheaper the economy would be alot better. People could afford a little luxury and fun. We need the Nations that run OPEC to hurt. Most of them are not our allies anyways, that's why the prices are high. Just to hurt the U.S.
