Marie, Thank you for that link. It was very informative. Does anyone know what kind of Baptist Church this is? Are they Southern Baptist? I thought they were members of the Southern Baptist of Texas, but one poster said they are independent. One advantage of being part of a denomination is you have a resource of lessons learned by other churches. This situation has happened before in other churches. There are experts who could give the church leaders helpful advice even at this late date.

They are Independent Baptists, affiliated with the Baptist Bible Fellowship International. The church was established August 13, 1978. The founding pastor, Rev Lloyd Taylor, was still the pastor until his death from cancer 2 years ago next week. He would be devastated to know this has happened. His family is.

Marie my main issue with you is your blatant judgement of the pastor before anything has happened. He was never arrested he turned himself in. Now that stemmed from the alleged victim filing a police report. There was never a gag order issued by the court, that's another piece of misinformation. Perhaps the church was told to keep things down to avoid drama. My thing is let the system figure out what happened before we judge him. And I agreed with Dani 100% about having a third party around or some type of failsafe measure for this very reason. It keeps both parties in check. But I still stand by my opinion that this will be a very very hard case for the D.A. to win, almost impossible without physical evidence.

Dani hit the nail on the head this is a dream case for a D.A. it gets him or her in the limelight and almost guarantees them re-election or movement up the judicial ladder. So if this case was a slam dunk it would be all over the papers and media and it's not. Nothing sells more papers and gets more viewers than a good scandal and this one seems to be fading away.

Marie I pray for the girl, but I still think this may all be a nice piece of fiction to destroy the pastor and shake up the leadership at that church and I am fully aware of the abuses of the modern church hence my saying lets not bring catholsism into this. The Catholic church is by far one of the most corrupt and evil organizations period. Look no further than the pope calling for multiple crusades to the holy lands in medieval times. Or yet the betrayal of his beloved Knights Templar. Why did the pope do that? Because the Templars had a ton of power and posed a serious threat to him with their banking and ownership of land. I could go on about the catholics for eons. But my point is Marie lets not burn the pastor at the stake yet.

I am man enough to apologize for being mean spirited and vicious towards you. But the pre judgement that you cast upon the guy irked me. I hope you could see it from a mans perspective and understand if this guy is innocent his life is still destroyed just by an accusation. The poor pastor would've been better of being in possession of heroin for gods sake and with a call girl. But people have cast judgement on him and yea I was hard on the girl but I have seen false allegations before and this one is shaping up that way. We will see how this plays out and I pray for the pastor and his wife and SWBC and the girl and her family.

In the end god will sort this out pass his judgement accordingly.

With respect.

Anon, thank you very much for you post. And I too am woman enough to apologize and ask you to forgive my harsness. I am just so sick and tired of these stories and I do tend to believe the victim because I see it too often. I know I should not judge before the facts are laid out and I should not judge if I am a true Christ follower, but, crimes against youth is just something that makes my blood boil and a fault I have in my walk with Christ.
I have teenagers. I know how they can lie and manipulate. But, I also know how easy they can BE manipulated and talked into things..hence, why it can be so easy to get teens to drink or do drugs by their peers...they are followers..they want to be cool...they want to do things that make them feel grown up. BUT, adults have no right to take advantage of them..even when they are teenagers.
I agree that no matter what happens or what does or does not come out of this.... this pastor's name is mud. But, if things turn out to be not true, then he has every opportunity to go on with his life. But, the same can be said of the girl and her family and I have a hard time believing that this family and this girl would take a huge chance of filing a false police report...they can get into major trouble for that, not to mention their own name drug through the system. So, another reason I lean towards believing the teen (not trying to argue though).
Unfortunately, too many times adults are let off without even a slap on the hand for violating a child sexually and I am just tired of seeing it happen. BUT, I also agree with one other poster who said that sometimes a 17 year old gets in trouble for having sex with a 15 year old....in that case...neither one of those teens should be in trouble for something like that...I chalk that up to stupid teenage choices and unfortunately our laws make the 17 year old a sexual predator for the rest of their life...our laws do need to change in this regard. I have a 19 year old son in college and the day he started dating we had constant talks with him about what is appropriate behavior with young ladies and what is not...we could not stress it enough..it was a true fear for us that one wrong touch or word or insinuation from his part and his life could be ruined. It's sad but it's a fact of life. Luckily he is growing into a wonderful, young man who is a true blessing to everyone around him and I don't have that fear anymore..he is a true old fashion gentleman. On the other hand, I have a very beautiful teenage girl who gets more attention from boys (and grown men) than I care to see. I am a very protective mother because I know things can turn dangerous very fast. I have constant talk with her about what a lady should and should not do with a boy or around a boy or while talking to a boy. I've explained that things she may see as "simple" or "innocent" could in fact get her into a situation that she can't get out of...it can be exhausting staying on top of my kids but if I don't, who will?(here I go getting off topic again!)
But, I agree with you that this is a case that needs to play out in court...its tragic for both families. I do pray that the truth comes out because I believe that is the only way that there will be peace within the church and both families. Even if the truth is against the Pastor...it's easier to live with the truth than living as a suspect and the truth never really being known.(does that make sense?:)
Again, I thank you for your kind and civil post and I pray along with you that this situation be resolved with God's help and that both families are made accountable...for whatever is found to be true.
Best regards
(sorry for my rambling)

It is so sad and heart breaking how the members of Southwood Baptist Church are participating in vile and hateful speach on this site. They are doing so much harm to those who are unbelievers. It is one thing to support your pastor; it is entirely another thing to behave in such an unbiblical manner.

My husband is a Youth Minister and he does receive phone calls and text messages from youth, as do I. He doesn't not however receive daily messages from the same female youth. He also is never alone for even 30 seconds with a female youth. He always has another adult sit it on counseling sessions and never gives rides to female youth unless I am present.

Pastor Jay Robinson has showed some serious misjudgement and cast very serious suspicion on himself. Following basic pastoral care taught in any seminary or bible college would have protected his name and reputation.

I think all of you need to stop this hateful and vile speach and pray for this poor girl, her family and for Pastor Robinson and his wife. Only God, Jay and this girl know the real truth. Certainly alot more will be learned at the trial as the frequency of phone calls and text messages will be fully revealed, along with the actual text of his messages to her and vice versa. Someone keeps stating how weak this case is, but there are already many precedents where text messages have been very damning and have proved allegations and led to convictions.

Everyone would do well to remember to respond in love and with compassion. God's heart has to be breaking over how both sides have reacted to this tragedy.

This is a link from another forum..it's on topix...about that 12 year old vermont girl who was killed by her uncle who was trying to make her a part of a prostitution ring.

This is the kind of scum that we need to get rid of:
http://wikisposure.com/Christopher_Kidwell

You should see what he posted on that other site....absolutely disgusting!

I know this is off topic...just pointing out how sexual predators and violations against children is so rampant in our society...hence, my anger when I see stories like this one.

Concerned Christian I am a member of Southwood and sadly I must agree with you several of Southwood's former and current members have said some things that are very out of line and are innapropriate to be brought up in a forum however true they may be. If you disagree with someone's opinion debate them rationally don't attack them it's not very christian. Take the old saying to heart if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all. To all current members please don't say anything that will hurt the church's future and turn people off to attending there it might save someone from an eternity in hell just think about that. To the former members no matter what your opinion please take the same advice because if you care about the church as much as a lot of you say you do then you will take it to heart.

Marie, I also owe you an apology. I am sorry for being hateful and calling you names. I just see it from both sides. I, being a victim of abuse and my young dumb son for having consensual sex with a girl he was dating and being filed on by her mother. He was the second young man filed on by her mother. I know the heartbreak from both ends and it hurts so badly. I have 3 daughters and 1 son. Please tell your son to be very careful and don't belive a girl when she says that she is 17. Those girls could be lieing and it could create a whole lot of problems for your son. Be careful and take care. Once again I am sorry for the things I said to you Marie. Cathy

thank you:) I apologize too my friend!:)

I'm sorry to hear about your son's situation. That is not fair. The law needs to be changed. I am so sorry your family has to deal with someone selfish and evil like that mother. Sounds to me like she needs to keep a better handle on her daughter, who certainly has some responsibility in this.

I will pray that your family finds some peace and healing!

First of all Everyone is entitled to there own opinion and let me say something over the years I saw people that were outstanding citizens and were molesting kids. Including that fact that I was molested by my uncle that was a preacher and my bus driver at one point in time and I swallowed the pain for many years then the bastard decided that I was no longer good for him so he started with my sister a year passed and guess what he got my other Lil sister until finally one day my school won a visit from mcgruff the crime dog and my Lil sister told and guess what he believed us and no one else did why cause he was an outstanding citizen. Get a grip lady cause let me tell you what are you going to do if it comes out to be true. Your world is going to be shoot and crushed and if you have kids everyone is going to be questionable cause if he could do it (if he did) then who else is capable of doing something like that. And one more thing everyone has skeletons in their closet don't care how perfect they are. If you tell me those scare me the most. The ones who try to be the most perfect outstanding people. Ive got more love from a stranger then I did from my family. My father n law was an outstanding citizen also and received a purple heart for being in the vietnam war. My daughter turned five and we caught my perfect citizen father n law on top of my five year old daughter.

What is wrong with you people?! This country was founded on the presumption of innocence. You people already have him tried and convicted. My family has known and loved Jay Robinson and his family for many years. He is one of the most giving and selfless people in a world that seems to be full of hate. He was raised by loving, giving parents who taught him that his mission in life is to help those in need. I have known him to give to people so that their children would have Christmas, bring food to those in need, and pay bills for people who didn't have the money to pay them. This is the repayment for a life spent so selflessly? The police are taking the word of an infatuated teenager with a very twisted sense of humor. She has created this in her mind. She has taken perfectly innocent things and made them into something to suit her own selfish, spiteful purposes. She is too young and immature to understand what her fabrications can do to a persons life. I have two very, very beautiful daughters that are friends with Jay, because of our close association with the family, and have been around Jay alot. There has never been any kind of questionable behavior! He has never been anything but polite and gentlemanly to my daughters. I would never, ever have any questions about Jay or his intentions with either of my daughters. Any church in this country would be lucky to have a pastor like him. The world needs more people like him, people who trust and love unconditionally. This world is twisted alright, but it is the innocent (like Jay Robinson), that are paying the price. We love you, Jay, and we are praying for you!!!!

Let's keep things civil it's been a nice change lately.

May god continue to bless you all and have a great weekend.

Good is good I agree and we need to be more alive in christ and instead of bickering try to help save the lost. It's easy to feel safe in the light of the church. But we are called to go forth and show our light so that others might see in us what we see in Jesus.

I pray this for all of you including myself. We often get so caught up in the ways of the world we forget what life is really about. It's not about god and the love he has shown us. So I will do my best each day to try to be more christlike in all I do.

Perhaps then this world may turn back towards a place of love and compassion for our fellow man instead of a world of war and hatred and selfish ambitions.

I pray you hear my prayer lord for I pray it with a pure heart and mind. I have always loved you even in my darkest hour. I am glad and blessed you have never forsaken me when anyone else would've.

I want to remain anymous due to my closeness to this situation, but have VERY reliable first hand information that Jay has now admitted to the allegations against him! He did so on Friday July 18th, to his now wife, Lisa, who shared it with several people who she is close to. I am hesitant to write this, but want to MAKE SURE that he is now making things right, FINALLY, by admitting this publicly, to the authorities and especially to the Southwood Baptist Church. My fear is that he is going to take a plea bargain that has been offered to him that may not require him admitting his guilt and he will not face the consequences that he deserves for months and years of deceit, lying and manipulation. PLEASE let me know if this has become public, because if it has not I will take the neccesary steps to make sure that it does and that the authorities are notified. THIS IS NOT A JOKE AND IS THE TRUTH…SO HELP ME GOD!

I, too, am close to the situation, on the church side. The Council will announce Jay's resignation on Sunday; they were told Jay agreed to resign because the family agreed to drop the charges if he did. The Council did not indicate Jay admitted any guilt, so I really hope "inside info" will share with us, and everyone, all of the info they have as it appears Jay is trying to sweep it all under the rug.
What is the plea bargain he's being offered? And just what did he admit to?
thanks!
