Your argument would hold more validity if you would cite statistics showing that more deaths have been caused by concealed carry permit holders and end result of stand your ground laws than those who carry illegally or have committed murder. Otherwise, I think YOU'VE swallowed too much left-wing Kool-Aide.The second amendment is about arms used to defend against a military foe. The NRA's lobbying and spending campaign over the years to sell more guns has resulted in the second amendment's fraudulent reinterpretation and caused dangerous laws to be passed. "Stand Your ground" and concealed carry laws result in more gun deaths. Believe otherwise and you have already swallowed too much corporate Kool-Ade.
Based on your argument, it appears as though you think that it's perfectly fine for someone to protect themselves against a MILITARY foe (our gov't included if it is the case) than in self-defense from murder/rape/kidnapping perpetrated by a regular civilian?
Stand your ground laws did NOT result in Trayvon Martin's death. All the law stipulates is that you have no duty to retreat from an attacker threatening with deadly force before you're able to use deadly force yourself, which I'm wholly in agreement with.
However, Zimmerman PURSUED and confronted Trayvon according to the 911 call, thereby escalating the situation and resulting in Trayvon's death. The stand your ground laws do not provide protection to those who pursue and escalate the situation. If Zimmerman thought that Trayvon had a weapon, his duty would have been to observe and report from a distance until the police arrived to investigate.
Zimmerman was in the wrong and was sentenced appropriately for his crime.
