Baxter guilty of capital murder

Somebody should be getting the rope ready. Now us working folks have to take care of this idiot for the rest of his life. In the words of Charlie Daniels

Poor little boy had know home life. Poor little boy cant read. It was a accident he hit the sheriff. It was the Sheriffs fault for chasing him.

No accountability for his actions. This is the problem with kids today. Always blame the other person. You chose the road you traveled Mr. Baxter. You killed the Sheriff and it is your fault that a husband, father,grandfather, and damn good man is dead. I hope you try to explain to God how it really was not your fault. I hope I can stand there and watch! You suck as a human being.

Did they establish that he was driving? Wonder what the girl will get?

If you read the trial account on FB - seems Baxter had a Blackberry, was smart enough to use that and also knew he should turn it off so they could not trace it - smart enough to know that he did wrong and hide in a closet. This insanity stuff should never have been allowed.

I guess since the judge had already ruled in retarded they did not have to bring it up. I don't know when the instructions were given to the jury about his mental ability, but I bet you it was mentioned in court.

Fluff it up with family members crying about what a "good girl" and beautiful person she is, throw in a couple of cutesy photos from preschool or a birthday party, stick with the whole "blame the police for x y z" defense (or maybe not, because it sure did not help Baxter), hammer the prosecution for making her tear up, and the only thing still up in the air is whether the defense attorneys will call her to the stand or not. I'm guessing yes.

I do not look for her to get the death penalty. I some how doubt that Baxter has the funds for an appeal.

I am glad that justice was finally served. The girl should get life in prison too!! Both were aware of their decisions, and both were able to choose to do the right thing, but instead they chose to murder an innocent man.:-(

He didn't have the money for these lawyers to begin with. I heard his lawyers are members of some group against capital punishment. I haven't had time to research this.

I have spoken with her father, she claims she had no choice during the chase, he was in total control of her. I have a hard time believing this but have seen things like this before, look at Patty Hearst.

She did not have to be with him - I get really tired of these victims. I do feel really sorry for her family.

I thought he would get manslaughter but not life. Lots of faults to go around. All parties made stupid mistakes, everything could have been prevented. So sad.

You know Eddie, I imagine if they had made some attempt to avoid him, slow down or stop and show remorse at the time it happened it would have been viewed differently. It was a very bad chain of events on both sides.

Did they ever see him before they hit him?? And if they did, just didn't stop..I never got that part. Was the girl driving orcas it Baxter?

Who was driving seems to be a mystery - originally they said she was driving. I imagine things were a blur, but they had to see him on the hood - they may have been all druged up - no one will ever know the real story.

What happen to the deputy that was chasing them did he stop or lose them or what if they changed drivers he should have seen it but again this does not add up STORY'S

There are some empty spots here for sure - what did happen to the deputy, they ditched the truck not too far from the road block. I think there was such shock going on - seems Keel could have seen who was driving - apparently he did say she.

So sad she was driving the car he was not but all people in this was wrong I think when someone is running from you the smart thing to do would not get in the road

I think you are an idiot. Ya, Baxter is tossing her under the bus claiming she was driving. How in god's name can you blame a person setting out a spike strip for getting run over. Baxter should have manned up at the trial but he showed what a punk he is by letting her take the fall. Both are guilty of their actions and he is far from mentally retarded.
