Commissioner Crunk stated in today's paper that there was not enough time to review the budget in July's budget workshop. I am not sure how he arrived at this conclusion since he did not attend the workshop. Also any Commissioner may take the proposed budget home and review it as long as they need. If Mr. Crunk would like to help save the taxpayers money he could actually participate in the process and suggest where in the budget taxpayer money could be saved through cuts. To simply state there was not enough time to review the budget at the workshop when he missed the workshop and offering no areas in the budget that need to be cut is back seat driving at it's worse.

yea, he's the same dude that voted against a small two buck raise in water fees because "80% of the people of nc did not get a raise this year" and stated he was against ANY raise in any fees, then voted to raise fees on buildings as much as three or four grand per year.

That is the only meeting on record that Crunk has missed in 10 months. And he did have over $225k in cuts he wanted made for this yr. There is only the one budget mtg. (that being held in the middle of the day), and he was sick, let alone working nights. NO cuts were made by any of the council. So we took somebody else's word for what was good for us. As far as the building fees,we are going to have to spend over $350k to tear down an empty building, and close the site in. Other empty buildings are needing this same. They aren't bringing any money into the city through sales taxes. His vote on the fees, was directed towards utility charges, simply stating that this was not the time. He is the only councilman that works for somebody else, and I respect his vote no matter if I agree with it or not. He probably has more support in this town than any of us.

False, they keep records at city hall, call them. ex-council wrote: And he did have over $225k in cuts he wanted made for this yr. And instead of proposing these cuts as has always been done,(how do you think the city cut property taxes 36% in the past four years) he votes to kill the whole budget? WOW, Lets not only put no effort whatsoever into saving taxpayer money, lets deprive the taxpayer of law enforcement, fire protection and road repair for at least the next year. THAT SURE IS IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CITIZENS! ex-council wrote: NO cuts were made by any of the council. False, many cuts were suggested at the workshop and by individual review that became part of the final budget, also the methodology of the budget is to make it as tight as possible then have the department heads justify any increases they request. ex-council wrote: So we took somebody else's word for what was good for us. So he votes for thousands of dollars in fees on a brand new structurally solid building? ex-council wrote: He is the only councilman that works for somebody else, False, Ever hear of Bret Gay? He works for a major drug company. Handy works for his church.

Bret Gay's attendance record is in the 50% range and most of those he is late getting there. Some representative he is for us. Posting only one no vote on anything(keno) in 10 months - check the records, they keep them at city hall. Handy - NO no votes to date this yr - check the records they keep them at city hall. Try reading the minutes for the meetings sometime, they are in the local paper, and they are on the radio several times a day. I don't want people like that in charge of my checkbook. It sounds like whomever you are bashing Crunk, must have a personal problem with the man himself. And his statement no cuts were made, obviously stands, because your statement many cuts were SUGGESTED doesn't mean any were ever made. Maybe you should go to work for the city. No wait a minute, it sounds like you already work for them for all the info you are slobbering about.

Ignore the issues, simply add up the sum total of NO votes to rate a politicians performance. A cross walk across a busy street for children to get to a park. NO! A request to submit an application for a 100% FEMA funded grant resulting in 0% of city taxpayer dollars spent. NO! And the actual vote by Crunk to cut all funding for Police, Fire, Rescue and the Streets! A NO on the budget, not part of the budget, ALL OF IT! What an intellectual thought, cut all fire, police and rescue services in Nebraska City by voting NO! I think "Police" above tried to break it down for you, but hey, lets, not talk about policy, issues and pro's and con's, lets just count NO votes to determine who has NC's best interests at heart, after all, who needs Police, Fire and Rescue services. You are killing me with your logic, please keep going.

Years past I worked with businesses wanting to locate to Neb City. One of the larger empty buildings down town was a prime location for such a business, but, it was rented out to an out-of-city business who used it for storage only. It would have been much nicer to have an actual store front on our main street instead. Maybe the fees charged for the empty buildings would have prevented this! FYI - the building is still empty.
