we have a coach in place who can move OUR kids out of the fog. I hope the school officials will do whats in the best interest of ours kids and not allow outside influences to warp their decisions. Can someone inlighten me if i misunderstood?

I've heard from the good that wants the job, David Feaster, to the questionable, Sam Goodwin, to the connected, Weiner who is Lee Posey's son in law.

It is my understanding that there are currently 6 candidates for the head coaching position including Feaster, Helms, Goodwin, Weiner and 2 others. At least these candidates have the experience needed at NCHS...let's hope the powers to be make a good decision.
I don't believe Helms should be "given" the job because he is in the position now but I do hear very good things about him.
I've known Feaster for a long time and he would do an excellent job if he gets what he wants from the administration.
Why would Sam want the job? I hear he needs 1 more year in the La Retirement System and he can retire from there. If he is willing to make a "long" committment he should be considered.
Weiner is an up and coming coach. His background is excellent and I believe he could also do a great job. Forget about being a politican's son-in-law.

Yes local officials are getting involved for the wrong reasons. It is about the kids. It's just Lee Posey's kid. He is drumming up a campaign to get his son in law hired. He doesn't care about the program or the kids or he would have tried to support it the last few years. When is the last time you saw him at a NCHs athletic event. But now he knows what is best? Please do not fall for this political crap. This will just be another setback for NCHS if this is done. Although I bet the sales to NCHS from Posey's Sporting Goods would increase tremendously. This needs to be a hire to further the program and the kids at NCHS are the program. Louisana politics will it win out once again?

NCHS needs a football coach not a political apointee. This program is at a crucial time. We also don't need someone who is just trying to get LA retirement. Plus he recommended our last coach. Get real the program needs direction. Appears it got it this spring. But politics will probably win out

I heard the school board voted on raising the head coaches pay Thursday so they can pay the AD to run to the Jr. Highs and get paid a teachers salary and not teach. Natchitoches is not as hard up for money as we thought.

I have wanted Feaster for years..even though I have no kids at NCHS, I've always thought he could turn the program around, if anyone could. I wish I weren't hearing what I'm hearing because this is sad. Hiring a head coach for a high school football team has nothing to do with the City, the Mayor, or the Councilmen....when they get their s*^# together then, they can stick their noses in, until then, they have more important things to take care of!!! Like protecting our city....yeah, right!

Neil Weiner record at CHSPC was 27-18 and he has made it into the playoffs. Neil knows how to win and has a great coaching pedigree. So let’s stop harping on the fact that he is Mr. Posey's son-in-law. Neil has paid his dues, unlike some. Feaster record speaks for itself. Coach Helms has done a great job this spring. If Sam is only coming for retirement purposes he needs to stay where he is. I hope that whoever is hired has the full support of the community, because the bottom line is about who is the right person to lead those boys into becoming better young men. So it time to stop playing game and put them first.

Well with that being said, Feaster should have gotten the job when he applied the first go around when Cieslak was let go. That whole affair is a docu-drama about politics. You see our then principal(stud duck R.W.) held a grudge against Cieslak and Feaster. The story is deeper than anyone cares to admit. It makes the grassy knoll theroy in the Kennedy assisination seem small.

Put yourself in the other mans shoes for a moment and you would do the same thing Lee did for Neil.

Bye the way its D-E-R-I-L-Y-N. Some of us are not afraid to hide behind a computer and say what needs to be said.

Again I say lets stop playing games.

i have nothing against the interim coach that is in place now, but it is time to look toward the future...if anyone is going to bring nchs back to the good ole days when we could run with ANYBODY in the state it's gonna be feaster...i mean does anyone remember when we put more people in the stands than nsu did???that is where we should be headed, and feaster will see that it's done the RIGHT way...i have nothing against coach weiner (mainly because i have never heard anything about him until yesterday) but can anyone honestly say he would be in this position without his paw-in-law???

I got the oppotunity to hear Neil Weiner speak this morning. He is very impressive and has plenty of experience. He is a hard worker and has a true concern for his players. He believes in teaching them not only football fundamentals but also about how to become outstanding people after sports.
I haven't met all of the candidates for the job so I won't say he is the best man for the job. If there is someone better and that person gets the job NCHS will be in great shape.
If you have a particular person you want to have the job let David Elkins know soon. He has the responsibility to picking the new coach.

why was this meeting kept so quiet???from what i understand, only a select few were told of the meeting at merci beaucoup this morning...it is all just a little fishy to me...i would be willing to bet that if former players were asked (and i mean players from the playoff winning teams of the mid to late 90's) an overwhelming majority would vote feaster

anyone who is interested can talk to whomever they please - who cares about a meeting - we all go to different functions and are not invited to every one. I think it is time NCHS had a coach that was concerned with bringing the best out in our children. I do not know Neil - but will say I have read about his coaching and that is what our community needs - not a coach that will listen to the parents who complain the most - the Weiner boy, politician or not has a PROVEN RECORD - and is very well respected as a Coach - can the rest of the applicants stand up to that?

you want to research a coaches record???check out david feaster, who by the way left nchs because of his convictions...we would not be where we are today if it weren't for ronnie waites total dismantling of the staff 4 years ago...and then his blatant disrespect toward feaster...to everyone looking for a scapegoat, look no further

Mr. Elkins appointed the right man for the job and he is proving it everyday. No other candidate is sharper or more committed to this program than Helms.
Feaster........this guy has been asked to leave his last two jobs. Contract wasn't renewed after last season in Texas and his former principal at Minden HS was elated to have him not return. His application at Southwood HS was met with more than one letter from current coaching staff members in great opposition to his being hired. Tag on Feaster: DOESN'T PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS.
The other guys mentioned are probably good coaches in their own right, but the best candidate to lead this program is already leading this program. If you don't believe it drive by any day this week between 3:30 and 5:30.
