Watched the boys play this evening. They looked pretty good. The field was sloppy and they seemed to be having a little trouble with that. They still have a ways to go, but they are getting there. If the boys abide by the summer schedule the coaches have, they will have something to show us next season. Go Chiefs !!!!

It was great, the whole atmosphere. Thanks to the Booster Club, parents and kids! For a moment I thought I was some where else where respect, and pride remain, then I realized........We still have a little of that right here in Natch! Great job you all.....Looking better in more ways then one everyday

Feaster is the man that can win. He will work well enough with the kids and let the board just what he and the program needs. He's not afraid to tell them the truth. And yes, sometimes the truth hurts.

A 5-5 record this year would be a great improvement. I like Feaster a lot - got to work with him when he was here - but I don't think he is the man for the job.
Helms deserves a shot at the job. After all everyone (including some NCHS coaches) think he has done a great job in a short period of time. Of course noone knows for sure because we haven't played another team yet. |

A lot of us got to work with him while he was here, some more than others. This chance will only come around one time to get Feaster. He is a proven winner over time, even though he thinks he knows everthing he still wins games and builds programs. Who would you feel more comfortable right now coaching your son in the state championship game and getting a ring.

Feaster might build programs but after he leaves they go down in a hurry. Look at Many and Minden the year after he left. I wonder why he wants to leave Texas...he has only been there one year.

he got fired

Whomever the next head man is... winning is a priority!
The program needs someone who can build up the kids and also break them down and put them in their place. I just care about seeing the Chiefs become a successful and dominating program like they once were. Feaster, Helms, whoever! Helms has done a great job given what he's had to work with. Time will tell. Go Chiefs! |

I'll say this and leave it at only this. If this were to be last years spring scrimmage, wouldn't you think ray would've gotten some kind of award?
Most outstanding or something? I'll agree that 4 white players were given plaques. But I can ASSURE you that helms gave every player on that team an opportunity to get the award. The kids that recieved them did hussle and make improvements. Should both races have to be appeased? If so then it comes down to racism and not the student/athlete that deserves the award the most. |

What kind of an idiot are you? Don't answer that, I believe i already know.
I didn't hear anyone mention anything like that until you. Noone else took notice. Besides, there are three black coaches on the staff. Do you think those guys collaborated against certain kids. If you are the type of person to take something like that and try to make a racial issue of it, DON'T COME BACK! We don't want the infection you are going to try to spread. Your attitude is not welcome around KIDS who play hard for one another regardless of skin color. I'll bet none of the kids cared, I know mine didn't. |

What would happen if only Black cheerleaders or only Black softball players were commended?
Not crying racism- "Just Asking....." Have the guts to say what you are saying. Don't pee on my boots and say its just raining. |

OH DEAR LORD !!! What has this thread come down to? The thread was started to gather imput and try and start a little more interest in the team. Whay would anyone bring up the issue of race? Why would anyone question the principal for something the coaches did on their own? He had nothing to do with that. The coaches wanted to do something that Pierce had never done....praise the players. This team can and will be a good one, if people like the one "not crying racism" does not bring them down with this crap. If u must question how the boys feel about it, go ask them. If you noticed it was only the older people who were complaining. The boys were proud of each other. All I saw when the coaches handed out the awards were football players. It is a shame some people must look at the issue with "colored" lenses over theri eyes.

To all you Feaster fanatics, what a mistake that would be. If the powers that be pull Helms away from this team at this point, it would be the same as leaving Pierce in place as head coach. These boys have a feel and a love for the coach they have. He has started something good. It would be a shame to pull all that out from under them now. What they have is good. If the boys follow the instructions that have been given them, they can be even better. I have a good feeling they will.

I know what parent this is, I heard her complaining to my sister about this,(her son is one of the QB's.) My nephew didnt get an award, and he is white, but we nor he complained about it. BACK TO POSITIVE--------I LOVE THE CHIEFS!! KICK ASS THIS YEAR!

Rumor has it that Feaster cancelled his interview the same day it was scheduled so that he could hear if he was going to get a coaching job in Shreveport. All interviews were to be finished on Monday yet he was rescheduled to Wednesday. Guess he was more interested in the Shreveport job and was looking to NCHS as a last resort.

There were about 30 other white kids there that didn't get a plaque. Let me think of what I can make of that. Sigh!
I believe in equality of opportunity, not equality of results. They all had the opportunity. Martin Luther King said "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Apparently we have some way to go when an adult notices the color of skin receiving awards. |
|
Are you surprised? Feaster cares only about one thing - HIMSELF. When people at a Texas school that have won like 2 games in five years fire a coach after 1 season it is not baout W-L it is about character. NCHS should consider themselves lucky if he pulls himself out of consideration |
