2 I left in disgust, but volunteered to work in a local church shelter, thinking it would be different. But I saw the same crap there, with just a bit more veneer of appropriate behavior. After a few days of being the bitch for evacuees who could care less about making their situation better, I said 'screw this' and went home to do for my own family. Bottom line, after Katrina, I really believe in the verse that never actually appears in the Bible: "The Lord helps those who help themselves." |

1 This time at NSU they stopped up the toilets with diapers, they had hair cutting parties in the hallways, bbq's on the sidewalks. Did they sweep up the hair? NO! Did they unstop the toilets? NO! Did they walk away leave the place the way they found it? NO! I don't want them here. I didn't care where they go just don't stop the bus near me. At the same time, I met many families traveling together in cars and trucks that were friendly and just wanted to buy some food, water, and a place to lay their heads. I noticed on the news none of those complaining were white. Was that just by chance they picked the blacks to complain? Were the white people just camera shy? Let them stay home next time. Don't spend our money busing them to places they are not happy with. Just think what would happen if Obama got elected. He would have them take over all the hotels and motels? If their are any left after the Muslims all move here. |

1 I saw the news casts of the evacuees complaining. And it makes me sick! Leave them there next time, or let them get themselves out! If people are too sorry and lazy to do for themselves, then they have no right to complain. |

1 Then we saw some of them headed home...they had stopped at the dumpster and were throwing their trash over the fence. There was a huge pile of trash.By the time I found a spot to turn around and go back ( I was gonna get their plate #'s) they were gone. If they are gonna act like this they need to stay down there!!!! |

I had 13 people in my home and it was cleaner when they left then before they got here. They provided their own meals and everything. I did volunteer at the church for Katrina tho and found it to be horrible like you are all saying. My husband didn't want me to go back and volunteer this year because it was so stressful last time. I guess that is the difference in family staying to get away from a storm and just plain trash getting away from the storm

1 Your right. The more you give them the more they expect WE give them. I heard one last night I needs money. I's broke. Not being thankful she had food and a roof over her head. SORRY BUT WHEN THEY START I AM GONNA CALL FEMA AND WE HAVES OURS RIGHTS JUST MAKES ME SICK. |

1 I'm not talking about the eldery or hanicapped, I was looking at healthy, able bodied people who never even thought about helping around the shelter. It never occured to them to help, they were content to let the volunteers do all the work. They complained about everything and wanted to know where their debt cards were. The shelter is just that - shelter from the weather, a place to sleep, that's all. It's not a bed and breakfast. Unbelieveable! |

1 And as a mother or a human being for that matter, I can't believe people got on a bus going to God knows where, to stay for an unknown time, and didn't pack diapers, formula, baby food for their children. Let alone underwear for themselves. They had time to pack, for days we had been watching it in the Gulf. They found out where to meet the buses, that tells me they knew it was coming. We live in Coushatta in a trailer, we left and went to my parents (10 miles down the road) I packed enough clothes for us to stay a week.(figured we would loose lights, we did). I pack my child's daycare bag with enough supplies to stay a week, including snacks juice boxes, extra clothes and diapers. Thats' just the normal everyday bag. These people don't care, they only want handouts. They expected the world to take care of them like with Katrina. They were given a place to get out of the way of the storm, what did they expect it was old warehouses, gyms, and empty buildings not the hilton, or even the budget inn. If they wanted showers and towels with robes, they should have saved money away for a hotel. I know there were people there who were grateful, the news just dont want to talk to them. But it makes me mad to see those ungrateful ones everyday, mouthing. |

1 I don't recall reading anywhere on here about family complaining or not helping. I don't see where any friends showed up and didn't help around the house. They were all thankful for a place to stay. If they were not you wouldn't call them family and friends. It appears all the complaints are about able bodied blacks with their hands out looking for US to feed them. US can be United States or just plain us as long as it don't cost them one red cent. I'm sick of them, I'm tired of giving and giving and never getting any other than hatred back. I'm tire of being called a no good cracker because I don't want to give them money on the street. I'm sick of being a Mother Trucking Honky for not picking up their tab for a tank of gas in a Ford Excursion with 24,000$ worth of rims and tires on it. I'm sick of the looks, the talk, the signs, the posturing. Let them take care of themselves or let the tide wash them out to sea. I'm sure there are some crabs out there waiting for a easy meal. At least the crabs wont complain if we feed them. |

I'M AMAZED AT THE PEOPLE WHO WORK AT THESE SHELTERS!HOW THEY DO IT DAY IN AND DAY OUT AND NOT GO OFF ON SOME OF THESE PEOPLE IS BEYOND ME.IF ANYONE DESERVES A DEBT CARD FROM THE GOVERNMENT IT'S THOSE PEOPLE WHO GIVE THEIR TIME WITH NOT EVEN A THANK YOU AND THE END OF A HELLISH DAY.

I know for a fact they brought Nothing with them to NSU.If you were still down south, did you not have a few diapers for one or two days? I know after they gave them all the essentials to make the shelter more comfortable, they then flooded the bathrooms by flushing the diapers down the toliet.
Just like the protesting in Shrveport, I bet they would walk all the way across the highway in a hail storm to the FEMA ATM,But didnt want to use the porta potty that was outside.I know why alot of people just threw their hands up that were helping out...It makes you ill how they act. |

I think what bothers me the most is that hard working families that can't afford a hotel have to stay in these shelters with these people I believe if you are getting support from the government and living in government housing then let the government build a shelter for these people to be bused to and let the hard working families stay in our shelters I bet the hard working families would be a lot more greatful, nicer and cleaner and they'd have some of thier own supplies cause they're not use to free handouts. You know if we all drew food stamps and wellfare and lived in HUD houses we could ride around in these new cars and name brand clothes and gold jewelry too. But the problem with that is we have a little something called PRIDE. We teach our kids how to get an education go to work and support your family while they teach thier kids how to sit on thier A** and cheat the government to get every penny they can out of them or better yet how to sell drugs. I see drug dealers get off free everyday and yet i know an 18 yr old who got caught with $150 worth of drugs and he got 5 yrs and it was a first offense but i guess thats how it goes when the cops and judges are scared of these people. I see cops in east natchitoches all the time but you rarely ever see them over in the streets around texas street and thats were they need to be 24 hrs a day i say give one cop 5 streets to drive up and down his whole shift and only leave in an emergency that would cut down on a lot of drug activity stop riding through the nicer communities if you want to keep us safe stay in the drug communities and we'll all be safer.
