Last night on the news they showed some evacuees in Shreveport that were upset about their accomodations. One lady screamed to the reporter that it was filthy she would sleep on the street. Another said they had not had proper showers, and another said that they (shreveport/gov't) was not ready for them or prepared after 3 yrs. First of all, why can't the able body people clean up after themselves in the shelter, if it is dirty, you are staying there clean it up. Second the Gov't was trying to save your life not put you up in a 5 star hotel, it is going to be rough. I am not speaking of all the evacuees, just the one's who think the goverment owes them.

This may surprise many who've read my other postings, but I agree with you. When Katrina hit, I volunteered in the NSU shelter - only to leave in disgust after two days. I saw so-called mothers ignoring their kids for hours on end, leaving them to volunteers to supervise while the mothers played cards and shot the bull. I saw volunteers making beds and mopping floors while evacuees spilled(donated) drinks on the floor and complained because they were bored. I saw the gang signs on the side of the building advertising where the evacuees could buy drugs.

I left in disgust, but volunteered to work in a local church shelter, thinking it would be different. But I saw the same crap there, with just a bit more veneer of appropriate behavior.

After a few days of being the bitch for evacuees who could care less about making their situation better, I said 'screw this' and went home to do for my own family.

Bottom line, after Katrina, I really believe in the verse that never actually appears in the Bible: "The Lord helps those who help themselves."

You are soooo right, not a beliver...Those people came with no diapers for their kids, no food for their babies..what kind of mothers do that? Always wanting something for free...Take responsibility for your own self..After Katrina, you would think these people would have learned how to evacuate and take care of their ownself..
And we got low life people right here in our town trying to get free meals prepared for the evacuees..And they lived right here in town..Just trashy dont give a crap about anybody but themselves people..they should be ashamed..

I think we shold shut our doors to them. Let them fend for themselves and stay in New Orleans. I don't want them near me and my family. Today there are advertisements in all the newspapers looking for oil field hands. They can get a job and buy a car. Maybe then they can make it futher up the line to say New York, Washington DC or their mother land ( Detroit).
This time at NSU they stopped up the toilets with diapers, they had hair cutting parties in the hallways, bbq's on the sidewalks. Did they sweep up the hair? NO! Did they unstop the toilets? NO! Did they walk away leave the place the way they found it? NO!
I don't want them here. I didn't care where they go just don't stop the bus near me.

At the same time, I met many families traveling together in cars and trucks that were friendly and just wanted to buy some food, water, and a place to lay their heads.

I noticed on the news none of those complaining were white. Was that just by chance they picked the blacks to complain? Were the white people just camera shy?

Let them stay home next time. Don't spend our money busing them to places they are not happy with. Just think what would happen if Obama got elected. He would have them take over all the hotels and motels? If their are any left after the Muslims all move here.

I noticed the same thing! And the news shows of the people down south working, at least the ones I saw, didn't have a lot of black folks in them......

I saw the news casts of the evacuees complaining. And it makes me sick! Leave them there next time, or let them get themselves out! If people are too sorry and lazy to do for themselves, then they have no right to complain.

I am glad they are going home!!!The house across the street was bought by a Dr. from Lake Charles, its just their camp house. We have had problems with them before, but this time was the icing on the cake. They came up here and parked in MY yard, knocked over MY posted signs. Then when MY dogs run up to bark at them,he tells my 12 year old son "You need to get your trashy dogs under control!" He was brave then, but a coward when my hubby went out there and told them to move their cars. That BMW is gonna look really cute behind a "trashy" tow truck next time I catch it in my yard.
Then we saw some of them headed home...they had stopped at the dumpster and were throwing their trash over the fence. There was a huge pile of trash.By the time I found a spot to turn around and go back ( I was gonna get their plate #'s) they were gone.
If they are gonna act like this they need to stay down there!!!!

I had 13 people in my home and it was cleaner when they left then before they got here. They provided their own meals and everything. I did volunteer at the church for Katrina tho and found it to be horrible like you are all saying. My husband didn't want me to go back and volunteer this year because it was so stressful last time. I guess that is the difference in family staying to get away from a storm and just plain trash getting away from the storm

Your right. The more you give them the more they expect WE give them. I heard one last night I needs money. I's broke. Not being thankful she had food and a roof over her head. SORRY BUT WHEN THEY START I AM GONNA CALL FEMA AND WE HAVES OURS RIGHTS JUST MAKES ME SICK.

Okay, this hurricane wasn't a surprise. It happens every year, year after year. What ever happened to personal responsibility? You live in a freakin' hurricane 'zone'! Be prepared. Why do they think they can come up here and be served?
I'm not talking about the eldery or hanicapped, I was looking at healthy, able bodied people who never even thought about helping around the shelter. It never occured to them to help, they were content to let the volunteers do all the work. They complained about everything and wanted to know where their debt cards were.
The shelter is just that - shelter from the weather, a place to sleep, that's all. It's not a bed and breakfast.
Unbelieveable!

In shreveport at the pet shelter, it was just as bad. My friend said her husband went to help and he was given plastic gloves and a garbage bag. Asked what for and was told to go outside and pick up poop from the sidewalk. These people were walking pets letting them just poop everywhere and leaving it. Needless to say, he left without picking up poop.
And as a mother or a human being for that matter, I can't believe people got on a bus going to God knows where, to stay for an unknown time, and didn't pack diapers, formula, baby food for their children. Let alone underwear for themselves. They had time to pack, for days we had been watching it in the Gulf. They found out where to meet the buses, that tells me they knew it was coming. We live in Coushatta in a trailer, we left and went to my parents (10 miles down the road) I packed enough clothes for us to stay a week.(figured we would loose lights, we did). I pack my child's daycare bag with enough supplies to stay a week, including snacks juice boxes, extra clothes and diapers. Thats' just the normal everyday bag. These people don't care, they only want handouts. They expected the world to take care of them like with Katrina. They were given a place to get out of the way of the storm, what did they expect it was old warehouses, gyms, and empty buildings not the hilton, or even the budget inn. If they wanted showers and towels with robes, they should have saved money away for a hotel. I know there were people there who were grateful, the news just dont want to talk to them. But it makes me mad to see those ungrateful ones everyday, mouthing.

I think I'm going to need another job or three if I have to pay more taxes to Obombya. I can't afford to house, fed and clothes these people any more. I'm having a hard time right now keeping my family safe and fed. If we have to leave I couldn't afford to leave. I have to work to feed these lazy assssses.

I don't recall reading anywhere on here about family complaining or not helping. I don't see where any friends showed up and didn't help around the house. They were all thankful for a place to stay. If they were not you wouldn't call them family and friends.
It appears all the complaints are about able bodied blacks with their hands out looking for US to feed them. US can be United States or just plain us as long as it don't cost them one red cent. I'm sick of them, I'm tired of giving and giving and never getting any other than hatred back. I'm tire of being called a no good cracker because I don't want to give them money on the street. I'm sick of being a Mother Trucking Honky for not picking up their tab for a tank of gas in a Ford Excursion with 24,000$ worth of rims and tires on it. I'm sick of the looks, the talk, the signs, the posturing. Let them take care of themselves or let the tide wash them out to sea. I'm sure there are some crabs out there waiting for a easy meal. At least the crabs wont complain if we feed them.

I know for a fact they brought Nothing with them to NSU.If you were still down south, did you not have a few diapers for one or two days? I know after they gave them all the essentials to make the shelter more comfortable, they then flooded the bathrooms by flushing the diapers down the toliet.

Just like the protesting in Shrveport, I bet they would walk all the way across the highway in a hail storm to the FEMA ATM,But didnt want to use the porta potty that was outside.I know why alot of people just threw their hands up that were helping out...It makes you ill how they act.

I didn't volunteer at any of the shelters for Katrina or Gustav, I knew better. I have been to New Orleans twice since Katrina, once to Mardi Gras in February 2006 and then again this past summer. Nothing has changed, the lower 9th ward looks the same. They aren't doing anything to make "The Chocolate City" "Their City" improve from that disaster so why should they care about the cities they are shipped to during another hurricane? It makes me sick, I bet like last time they will get a little extra on their foodstamp card you know "to help them through this troubling time". I wish they would stay down there too or learn a lesson and be prepared for the next hurricane which from the way it looks should be here by Friday. Why help people that don't want to help themselves? All they do and i mean white trash too not just the blacks, they draw their welfare checks and foodstamps every month and then all they do is sit around all day either doing drugs and making more babies so they can get a bigger check and more foodstamps not to mention that they are also on housing. Damn must be nice... But you know what I have to much pride to act like this, i'd rather work and make my own way in life. Don't have to worry about my kids ever living off of the state, kids live what they are taught as children and I am teaching mine to be proud, hold their heads high and make their own way in this world. These "people" are teaching their kids just the opposite, "sweety let the government take care of you just like mommy and daddy do!.....

I think what bothers me the most is that hard working families that can't afford a hotel have to stay in these shelters with these people I believe if you are getting support from the government and living in government housing then let the government build a shelter for these people to be bused to and let the hard working families stay in our shelters I bet the hard working families would be a lot more greatful, nicer and cleaner and they'd have some of thier own supplies cause they're not use to free handouts. You know if we all drew food stamps and wellfare and lived in HUD houses we could ride around in these new cars and name brand clothes and gold jewelry too. But the problem with that is we have a little something called PRIDE. We teach our kids how to get an education go to work and support your family while they teach thier kids how to sit on thier A** and cheat the government to get every penny they can out of them or better yet how to sell drugs. I see drug dealers get off free everyday and yet i know an 18 yr old who got caught with $150 worth of drugs and he got 5 yrs and it was a first offense but i guess thats how it goes when the cops and judges are scared of these people. I see cops in east natchitoches all the time but you rarely ever see them over in the streets around texas street and thats were they need to be 24 hrs a day i say give one cop 5 streets to drive up and down his whole shift and only leave in an emergency that would cut down on a lot of drug activity stop riding through the nicer communities if you want to keep us safe stay in the drug communities and we'll all be safer.
