The Conservative Party of Louisiana is currently looking for local leaders who will help grow the party throughout the state.

Anyone interested in helping in Natchitoches Parish or elsewhere can find more information here:

Hrm, I might be interested in this. one question though, does the Conservative Party of Louisiana consider Sarah Palin to be a conservative or a viable 2012 candidate?

I'm just a party member, not a party leader, so I can't speak for the party.

There was a recent blog post mentioning Sarah Palin on the Conservative Party USA's website.(The Conservative Party USA is the national party with which the Conservative Party of Louisiana is affiliated.) It gives an idea of what that writer thinks of Palin and how she's been treated by the Republicans.

By the way, the Conservative Party USA was founded by a man from Louisiana (Sam Gallo) who is also a leader in the state branch of the party.

I see this as a two edged sword, it going to cut both ways.

First, this third party is an absolute must. We all know that the republican party has left us conservatives out in the cold. The republicans have no leadership right now and they have abandoned their conservative roots. I believe that many conservative republicans will at the very least be voting for conservative party candidates and at the very most many will change parties.

The other edge of the sword is that this will split the republican vote in future elections which will almost guarantee that the dumbocrats will maintain control in Washington and even enlarge their current majorities.

The good part is that if the republicans see their base going away to the conservatives, as in NY 23, then maybe they will wake up and return to their conservative roots.

Any of you who have read my posts for any length of time know that I am a conservative and proud of it. I have never been affiliated with any political party, I am a registered independent. I mentioned on another thread several weeks ago that I have always voted either republican or democrat not wanting to waste my vote on a third party. One day I decided that I have been wasting my vote because I have been voting for candidates I don't really care for. I, like so many, have more voted against a candidate rather than for a candidate. The last presidential election was the "mountain top" of that line of thinking.

With all that said, in future elections I will be looking at ALL the candidates with special attention to the Libertarian Party, The Constitution Party, and now the Conservative Party. Which ever candidate most lines up with my conservative political ideologies will be getting my vote.

The politicians in Washington, D.C. do not care about us common folks. It's time to fire them all at their next re-election.

God bless America

Conservative: 1. Reluctant to accept change. In favor of preserving the status quo and traditional values and customs, and against abrupt change.

Hmmm. By my understanding, that would include Fundamental Muslims, Fundamental Jews, and Fundamental Christians. Oh yeah...and a whole bunch of ignoramuses who think being a Conservative is what God meant for America. Those last ones are too stupid to see with whom they are keeping company. Oh well.. why am I not surprised?

Didn't someone once try to make a Christian nation ultra-conservative? Like Hitler? We certainly need that again.

That definition has nothing to do with politics.

Conservatism lost its predominantly agrarian and semifeudal bias, and accepted democratic suffrage, advocated economic laissez-faire
, and opposed extension of the welfare state. This form of conservatism, which is best seen in highly industrialized nations, was exemplified by President Reagan Reagan, in the United States and Prime Minister Thatcher Thatcher, in Great Britain. It has been flexible and receptive to moderate change, favors the maintenance of order on social issues, and actively supports deregulation and privatization in the economic sphere.

Didn't someone once try to make great nations Marxist or Socialist?
Marx based his theories on the socialism of Saint-Simon, as did Lenin, Mussolini, Hitler, Mao, Castro, and all other socialist dictators of the 20th century.

HOW DID THEY TURN OUT?

Wall St. greed, massive environmental violations and the like with be all the rage. That attitude of Help the rich and f*ck anyone who isnt rich is why i have a major issue with Mr. Reagan and anyone who thinks he was a great president.

During President Reagan's years as President, unemployment peaked in December, 1982 at 10.8%. When President Reagan left office in January 1989, the unemployment rate was 5.3%.

When President Reagan took office in January, 1981 the inflation rate was at 13.58%. When President Reagan left office in January of 1989, the inflation rate was at 4.08%.

When President Reagan took off ice in January, 1981, the prime interest rate was 21.5%. When President Reagan left office in January on 1989, the prime interest rate was at 7%.

Therefore by you comments the worse the economy is, the better off the nation is. Why don't you tell that to the nearly 20% of U.S. citizens who are currently unemployed.

LR,
My post was in reference to the last sentence of your post #8. It is too bad that a smart guy like you doesn't understand economics in a capitalist society. It is also a shame that you refuse to accept historical facts as a basis for your debates, but instead, rely on name calling, and conservative bashing.

And here is another historical fact that you need to consider. It was the policies during the 1990s (Clinton, Dodd, Frank, etal) which have caused our current housing market collapse leading to a recessed economy, and wall street took advantage to that. No way am I defending what wall street did, but you must realize that they simply took advantage of what was given to them.

Is there a religious requirement to be a member of this party? Must one be a Christian?

I haven't had time to get deep into it, but I doubt that you have to be a Christian, just of the conservative persuasion. I know some Jews and athiesists who are conservatives.

How is the autobiography coming along?

Well I just visited the Conservative Party of Louisiana's website. They support Sarah Palin. That doesn't impress me one iota.

The autobiography is on hold. I don't care to be burned at the stake. Now if you have any particular questions...I may or may not answer them.

I do have one particular question, but I really don't want to ask you on this forum. I'll wait for the book signing. LOL

Sarah Palin is a big unknown at this time. I really liked how her conservative grit fired up the conservative wing of the republican party in 2008. Might be wrong on this, but I feel that if McCain had let that bulldog wipe off the lipstick she would have presented herself much better.

Also you know how the liberal politicians and press crucified her, but I think that was done out of fear of her rather than anything else. Her book should be an interesting read, and if nothing else, it will be interesting to see what she does in 2012.

I really don't think the press was afraid of her. She was too easy to trip up, almost asking to be crucified. But that may have been a studied ploy as well, knowing well how many far right wing nuts love a good martyr for their cause.

You do not have to be a Christian to join the Conservative Party.

Here's a discussion that Conservative Party founder Sam Gallo had which touches on the party's position on religion:

http://cp-usa.org/pipermail/advisory_cp-usa.o...

Basically, they recognize the traditional Judeo-Christian heritage of the USA, but don't claim that one has to be a Christan to be a good American and a conservative.

please go back and show me where i called anyone a name. please show me where the current unemployment rate is nearly 20%. that is a blatant exaggeration by you.

let me ask you a question U2bc. Are you ok with de-regulation? You didn't say anything about that really. You may be correct about the housing and wall st. fiasco's, but why are you conservative people so willing to let companies do whatever they want so that "capitalism" is preserved. Is it worth it at any cost? at what point does capitalism become a liability?

If you include all those who have exhausted their unemployment benefits the unemployment rate is somewhere between 17 and 20 per cent.

No, I'm not ok with de-regulation and I stated that wall street simply played the hand that was delt to them in the 90s. If you re-read my post I stated that I did not agree with what wall street had done.

Is this a new political party? I had not heard about them until NY 23.

Daily Horoscope for December 14

Scorpio

Something that's been buried comes to the surface today, triggering a change in your life. This could be quite dramatic and public, or it may happen on an inner level so that you're the only one who's fully aware of what's going on. If this is something that you've been fighting to suppress, it will be painful to have it finally exposed but you must accept that it was inevitable.
