Shooting under investigation in Natchitoches, police report

The Natchitoches Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred around 11 p.m. Friday.

The victim, Kendrick Carter, 19, of 3800 University Parkway in Natchitoches, told police that he and his room-mate were walking in the parking lot of the Boys and Girls Club on Martin Luther King Drive when he was shot, according to a news release early today by Lt. Cary Hargrove, public information officer with the Natchitoches Police Department.

Kendrick Carter was treated at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for a gunshot wound to his upper leg and transferred to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, the release states.

Anyone with any information on this crime is asked to contact Det. Sgt Susan Johnson Lt. Brad Walker

It was in really small print in the state news on thetowntalk.com . Apparently, a resident of the Frog Pond was walking through the parking lot of the Boys and Girls Club around 11 p.m. on Friday night and got shot in the leg.

Pretty sad when you think about where it happened...the Boys and Girls Club.

If people would hold their tounge once in a while this may be a better place to live. The mouth gets a lot of people in trouble and is the cause of most issues.

Here is a research project for you. In the past 12 months in Natchitoches, the total:

black shoots black

white shoots white

black shoots white

white shoots black

If you do the research I am sure the FACTS will show an overwhelming black shoots black. Not a racist statement, just facts.

I am not debating the statistics with you, the comment made was a racist one, taking about lowering the blacks. This is the problem with people being unable to get along, and why there are so many racist issues now.

You are correct about Rhonda's comment. It was extremely racist and mean spirited. But is it that much worse than Jessee Jackson or Al Sharpton saying that it is not right that the very high percentage of black males in prison is the white man's fault? Just look at the news reports every day.

You are also correct is saying that people should hold their tongue. That applies to Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Jeremiah Wright more than anyone. These men have done more in the past 10 years to keep racism alive than any one else I can think of. If they would use their talents, finances, and abilities to promote unity instead of racism we all would be better off.

I am going to catch a bunch of flack on this comment. The black leadership in Natchitoches must get control of the high crime rate in the black community. At this time, I see no effort by the NAACP, the black pastors, the black politicians doing anything to address this problem. I may be wrong on that and if I am, you have my apology in advance.

Everything is alway made a racial issue. Whites shoot, stab, drink at 12-15, dip tabacco at 12-15, but it's all keep hush becasue their parents have the money to make it go away. While there maybe more black on black crime, you bette beleive there is also some white on white crime. Let just drop the race and try to find some solutions to these problems.
