What if you stop paying child support? What can they really do about it?

If u don't. Pay ur childsupport then it adds up and soon. U will so ur ass in jail.

Why would anyone stop paying child support? Why would anyone not feel a responsibility to support a child that they brought into this world?

Oh gee, lots of things can happen. First, your wages can be garnished. Then, you can lose your driver's license and hunting/fishing licenses. If you win the lottery, those winnings can be held to pay any back and future child support. If you travel overseas or work overseas, your passport can be flagged so that you can't exit the country. Also, if you're receiving an income tax refund, it can be held. If you hold a professional license, it can be suspended until you get your child support in order. And last, but not least, you can do time in jail for child support AND contempt of court. Now, with all that in mind, wouldn't it just be simpler to pay what you owe each month and avoid all those other hassles, because it will be a major hassle to get all that other mess straightened out if you don't. Besides that, your kid(s) DESERVE that child support. And their mother deserves it because she is putting a roof over their heads, food in their bellies and clothes on their backs, paying the utilities, you get my drift? Pay the damned child support and get over yourself. You helped breed, now you get to help feed 'em. And just to make sure you don't breed anymore that you'll eventually have to pay for as well, get a vasectomy, or at least use a condom so you won't breed anymore.

Really how much money is needed to support a child monthly??

Not talking about money to support his mothers bills clothes or car notes.

Yeah, those baby mama's may be getting all sorts of govt. help, but if they're receiving FITAP or whatever acronym they call it now, it's creating what is called a state debt, and that baby daddy is gonna be responsible for paying that off because the state is basically paying that child support for him and then the state wants its money back. This is why states are in the child support enforcement business now - to get back all that money they put out because the BD wasn't paying his fair share to help raise them. And yes, that child needs transportation too. And FWIW, the formula used to figure out how much child support an absent parent has to pay can be found online. If you google for Form 201 (I think that's the form #)- child support worksheet, you'll find it and can then see what all goes into determining child support. All you baby daddies out there who are whinin' and cryin' about how much child support you have to pay - get over yourselves. You helped breed 'em, now you get to help feed 'em. If you don't want that happening anymore - get a vasectomy or start using condoms. Also, all you baby mamas out there who are wanting to have all these "check babies" - just to get all these benefits. You're not having children, aw forget this rant and save it for another day.
