Ethics in Robeline

see our mayor Mr.O'con was fined for ethics violations .

click on the link to read the entire opinion from the board of ethics. I dont know about anyone else but i haven't seen any inflatable jumpers (and why would the town buy two of them a year apart).

Does anyone realy believe that a gift shop type business would sell office supplies and office funiture? Obviously, the Pampered Soul sells a little of everything for the right price. Sounds to me like the Mayor is dipping into the funds that should be used for our town.

Wonder who else at city hall is getting a little under the table money from deals like this? I'm sure that the mayor isn't the only one in the
office that is aware of how, why and what for money is buing paid.

I would expect the innocent to demand a full investigation and/or prosecution by the District Attorney.

Dad Gummit, I always heard that ole boy was crooked. Somebody shook that grapevine and the truth is finally being told. Keep shakin those vines and lets see what other truths get shook loose. I just hope that there ain't another FIRE in that there office. It tends to happen purty regular.

Ain't that pampered soul a christian gift company. Ain't never seen no office supplies or furniture in his shop when he was over there by stage.
Didn't they get a grant not long ago to remodel offices something like 30,000. Don't look like that money went where it was suppose to go.

Let's all show up st next meeting and make them let us see the files and answer some real questions. But they don't have meetings some months liked they suppose to.

Yes let's all go to the meetings. Looks like they are doing alot cause they know that no one wants to question them.
Time to start asking the tough questions no matter who gets their feelings hurt. If they have nothing to hide they should welcome our questions

Can this be true? Tommy O’Conn, the mayor of Robeline, is an ordained minister preaching the gospel every Sunday. I love the penalty imposed, probably less than the profit made on the “alleged” sales. However, I’d bet he stays in office regardless. Us folks in Robeline don’t seem to want things better. I doubt if one could even see the benefits received by our Town from the “alleged” sales. We have come to expect and accept this type of behavior from our elected officials.

Its pitiful what the mayor has done. When will people decide to change things up. Keep electing the same people and they think they can get away with anything. Use your vote to make major changes at the next election.

Betsy Jordan should be investigated she is his sidekick. I'll bet They steal all the time. She is not trustworthy

Im sure the clerk knows what's going in. Either She is in on it or she is scared to talk. Either way she needs to be looked at too.

Several questions come to mind about the way things are done around there
Where does the money _go for all those tickets that are written? does not look like any improvements have been made. Next, let me address the water department
Why is the nasty water so expensive? Why is Fran only there atat night

They only read the meterts every couple month then charge u a high bill when they do.

I would like to see the council members step up and get a full audit of the office and all financial maters. If items were purchased thru the mayors business then those items should be made available to the public. Example: set the jumpers up in the park for the day and let kids play.

If the items really were purchased then so be it. I'm sure he new it was a conflict. He should pay the town back for any profit that was made in his markup of his cost. If the items were not truely purchased then he should step down and pay back 100% of any money paid to him, in addition to the fines.

Let's see what happens. If nothing has been done by the next town meeting, then every registered voter should demand action.

Well weve all made mistakes n im sorry to see this because i thought highly of mr ocon but i have to remember that its not my place to judge. So i will say a prayer for him because ppl will judge n b cruel.

yes people will judge him...and if he is a honorable man he will set things right. we all make mistakes but we still have to accept the consequences when we do wrong.

If he was an honorable man then he wouldn't have done it. He confessed. It doesn't matter if it's $12 or $12,000, it's still corruption.

Just paying a fine is not enough. Public officials should do some jail time and not be allowed to be in positions of authority again. One offense and you're out and if it is serious, jail. They know that they are expected to be above all that when they run for office. If they fail to maintain the standards, then they need to pay the price. Recall! Jail time!

Does anyone know when the next town meeting is ?
and if so,please post it.I have never seen any signs posted about a meeting .I believe if we show up in numbers,the "honorable Mr. O'con " wink,wink
may see that the people do care and he needs to go.!
