Since so many people read, and respond to this; what is up with Mr. Gordy? This man at times seems as if he hasn't a clue of what his job is.

And your point is......? I like him. He does a good job.
Are you talking about Bill Gordy? I thought he was a bus driver... |
The man knows his job, and does it well. He goes by the handbook...which most of the kids out there somehow forgot to read.
Hey Bocephus..Is all your routy friends coming over tonight? ha ha...can we make some music man..? |

Mr. Gordy is doing an excellent job. He does know very well what is going on. He is a very good person. Maybe you put your feelings aside and get to know him better. Very good chance you will like him very much.
Thats exactly what I thought . How do you go from a bus driver to an assistant principal. I liked him when he drove my kids to school . Dont know why he would act any different. He didnt put up with crap when he was a bus driver so why should he be any different. |

Well no, I don't know him, but my point is the day of school registration, he misinformed me of what i was to do, then recently he informed a student of his personal feelings of disbelief on a matter that "may possibly be an issue", when he didn't even know all the facts or information. And I think it was very unprofessional b/c it's already hard enough for kids to feel comfortable enough to come forward and talk to authority figures as it is. But, thanks for your opinions of Mr. Gordy, he may be a fair and good man, but he has yet to leave that impression on me.

1 Mr. Gordy is a very good administrator. He follows the handbook, period. If your child chooses not to follow the rules in the handbook, it is your problem. |

NO, they are not supposed to be an ass, they are supposed to be fair and work with the students. Certainly they should lead, guide and tell students when they are WRONG. There is a right way and a wrong way to do this and it is not by "giving students a hard time." I do appreciate that you still think he was a great teacher and a great assistant principal, however. |

1 Dear B N Real, NCHS has how many students? I was aware that it was around 1500. Are you sure that you did not hear incorrectly when Mr. Gordy "misinformed" you? I seem to be aware that everyone was successfully registered in order to attend school, especially since it is now late November. Also, when one informs another of their "personal feelings of disbelief", they are showing you that they have respect for you as a person. If someone is shocked at something you have done, they obviously have a good impression of you as a person. That is flattering. You are right; it is hard for students to come to authority figures because they feel intimidated. However, is that because they quote some pre-recorded quote from a rule-book or because they actually show that they care by telling the student how they feel about what is being shared? As a former student, I always valued sharing my side of the story as well as hearing my listeners opinion. Administrators are not there to be your friend. They are there in order to enforce the rules and keep the learning environment safe for your children/family members. Dear John Wayne, Are you upset because maybe your child was sent to the office and dealt with accordingly? I have been to NCHS as a Northwestern Education student and have observed numerous teachers and administrators at the school. I also am a graduate of NCHS. I have also observed that Mr. Gordy is the one who seems to be the most respected assisstant principal. Another observation that I have had is that he also gives the majority of the students a second chance when they have been charged with an offense by a teacher. The minority that he does not give a second chance generally have to be hauled away in a police car because their offense was illegal in the first place. Zero-tolerance is effective in Natchitoches Parish because of school violence throughout the country. Once again, administrators are not there to be your friend. They are there in order to enforce the rules and keep the learning environment safe for your children/family members. Dear Current Principal, You are correct; it is not right to "give students a hard time". However, it is right to hold students accountable, which is what Mr. Gordy does. You are also correct that administrators are not supposed to be asses. However, is a military style of administration being an ass? I have observed it to be quite effective. To all, Another observation is that good administrators make it a point to know their student's names. I have stood next to this man between classes and listened as he called every single student who walked past him by name and ask them how their day is going as well as have personable converstaions with each of them. Forgive me. I was unaware that all these things made up a "spine-less worm". I was also unaware that we were supposed to bring silly name-calling with us as we grew and matured from kindergarten. Thank you for reading this reply in its entirity. |

1 Tisk, tisk, tisk, what cruel, negative things people can say about one another! Hey, everyone has an "off" day or two...no one's perfect! Why would someone call Mr.Bill a "spineless worm" or that other BAD name? Is it because his way is different than yours? Is it because he disciplined your child, friend, or you (whatever the case may be)? Some people aren't happy unless they can cause others to look bad. I hate that a student had something stolen twice, aren't there some "bad" people out there...parents have to teach their kids to be careful with themselves and with their property...no matter how much kids are taught this, things happen...as parents we can't fix everything even though we want too...oh, could this possibly be how Mr.Bill felt...it was out of his hands...he's not perfect...he can only do what he can do...you know NCHS is a BIG school! Oh, by the way, how does a bus driver get to be an assisstant principal...hmmmmmmmm, oh, an EDUCATION!!!!!!!!!!Try it, it's never too late...oh well, ya'll should know what I mean!!! |

2 And when you tell someone you don't believe them, you should at least know the whole story, or have a reason not to believe this child. and if you haven't had a trust issue with this child you should not be so quick to just say, oh i don't believe you, because their are certain figures of authority that aren't exactly the most honest of people and they hold the position to judge others! and again, i'm not just trying to bash this man, i am just trying to get other's opinions of him, because i would just hate to think that i am the only 1 that he's made a bad impression on, being that i have been a pretty good judge of character |
