Isn't so much festival related...but for Christmas time, I like how people do generally become nicer during the holidays, "Tis the Season" kind of thing. I also love, that from about Nov 10th on, it's the BEST time in the world to get your kids to mind LOL, "You better behave, Santa is paying REAL close attention now!!" We haven't been able to get to the fireworks for a few yrs now, with kids being so small and it being so dark and crowded, but I used to love laughing when everyone goes, "ohhhh ahhhhh" repeatedly, that almost never gets old LOL. Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas!

My favorite thing about the festival is the old traditons. I miss the big lights. I wish they would go back to the old timey lights and colors. The displays are great and the fireworks are better but the lights are not the same. I love the food, people, bands, and the memories it gives to our children. It is a special time for the people of Natchitoces. I just pray it does not get to big where we lose the meaning of our small town city of lights. Oh and don't forget the Santa house it is a center of attention for all. I love the Santa house.

I love the way they charge Natchitoches citizens to have access to a State Highway. I love the way they have ruined it by stretching it out over 6 weekends. I love the way the city makes it seem like Front Street businesses DEPEND on the festival to remain open. I also love the way the crowds seem to get smaller every year and the numbers in the newspaper get bigger.

Stealing the baby out the Christmas decorations! Or just one of the wise men. Kind of throws off the display.

I agree with you..I loved the old lights much better...and..Frankly, I thought everything was much better when everything kicked off on Christmas Festival weekend and didn't run for 6 weeks......it's taken away from the traditional festival which made this town so attractive, famous, and made the festival itself so special. Sometimes progress is NOT good.......

Define Progress. Sometimes progress is realizing/knowing your limits. The Festival def has limits, but can be great if not over expanded and diluted through too many months.

Celebrating the birth of Jesus.
His Name at the Top

I had the nicest Christmas list,
The longest one in town,
Till Daddy looked at it and said,
"You'll have to cut it down."

I knew that what he said was true
Beyond the faintest doubt,
But was amazed to hear him say,
"You've left your best friend out."

And so I scanned my list again,
And said, "Oh, that's not true!"
But Daddy said, "His name's not there,
That Friend who died for you."

And then I clearly understood,
'Twas Jesus that he meant;
For Him who should come first of all
I hadn't planned a cent!

I'd made a Christmas birthday list,
And left the Saviour out!
But, oh, it didn't take me long
To change the list about.

And though I've had to drop some names
of folks I like a lot,
My Lord must have the most---because
His name is at the top!

People treating others with good cheer and friendly smiles. We let down our guard and seem to treat each other kinder. I just wish it would last all year!

When my girlfriend wears her stockings that say "Merry Christmas" on one leg and "Happy New Year" on the other leg and she tells me to come up between the holidays. I do love the holidays!

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Taurus

Keep calm! Your emotions are becoming increasingly heightened and intense today. As a result, you're likely to take things much more seriously than usual. That's wonderful if you're involved in a hot and heavy encounter with Mr or Ms Right, but it won't be such good news if you go overboard about silly trifles. If you're doing some last-minute shopping you'll want to be as extravagant as your budget allows. Or is it a case of Budget...? What budget?
