1 Hey I've got an even better idea. Let's hold people responsible for THEIR OWN actions. |

1 I hate to bust your bubble, but it was at strait country. And there were no cops checking anything. I know these kids personally and they are all under the age of 18. One of them was dancing with an off duty cop. |

1 Yes, I did. I even called one of them's parents, and they are not very happy. They have even talked about going to the police. |

1 Sorry Kye, but you are wrong there. I don't even drink now. I am not bashing you in anyway, please don't think that. I don't know you, but I have read several of your reply's, and I must say that I respect you. Keep replying.... |

Please let me try and explain why I feel this way. None of these were my children, but they got drunk and couldn't drive and one of them called me to come and get them. They were to scared to call their own parents. At least he/she had sense of enough to call. THANK GOD...

Could somebody enlighten me as to the process on bar entry? You can go into the bars if you are 18, but you can only be served alcohol if you are 21? Is that correct? |

Yes that is correct..

1 all you have to do is turn them in and the owner has to pay a fine... im sure your thinking oh yea right like he cares if he has to pay a fine... he gets pissed because it comes out of his pocket and makes his insurance go up and if you stay on top of it and see to it that he keeps on getting tickets for minors in the bar then he will get tired of paying them and get tighter with checking ID's... any time I have ever gone to that bar I have always had to show my ID to a cop... they are supposed to do random raids on the bars as well....where the cops or the atf shows up and shuts the doors and asks everyone in there for ID. if your of age but have no ID then you get a ticket and so does the owner... same thing if your underage ( of course you have no ID that says your 18) the underage guest gets a ticket and the owner of the bar gets a ticket. which I think can be up to 500 dollars. |

1 And Kye, you are absolutely correct. I called and checked on all of this through the State in Baton Rouge, and they told us what we needed to do. Thank you for clairfying this. |

Just to let you know, I am not taking up for Mr. Withers or anyone that works at Strait Country, BUT - There are at least 3 Natchitoches Police on duty in that bar every night it is open. It is there sole job to ID every single customer that comes in that door and manage any underage drinking - I have even seen them card and band off-duty employees that come in. If an underage child wants to get into a bar ... Strait Country or The Body or Yesterday's or anywhere - they are going to whatever it takes. I know many of the employees and the owner - and that may cause my views to seem biased, but I am only stating facts. The ATF has come in many times - and has even given a ticket to a bartender and Mr. Withers. They have learned that lesson. The bartenders are better at not serving underage anymore - for risk of losing there job ON SPOT if caught (and there are too many cameras on them at all times for them not to be caught.) Once again, don't think I am merely taking their side - I was not even served until I was of age and I am a regular customer and friend. It is true that underage kids come in the bar ... but it is not without passing the door ladies and cops. If they have an ID that happens to fool the cops, well, good on 'em. They got lucky. If they have friends who will get them drinks, good on 'em. They got lucky! I have sat back many nights and seen underage girls (especially girls) flirt with older guys and even much older men just to get a simple drink. Shouldn't it be the responsibility of these underage kids' parents to know where their children are on a very regular basis? I know when I was in high school, and even until I left for college, my parents wanted to know everywhere I went. It's their job as a parent! I have also seen cops take out people when told about these underage kids being in the bar by other kids. In the end, it should be the ATF looking at these kids and then their parents as to why they are in the bar. And if anything, the State should look at the cops as to why they are in the bar as well. Mr. Withers has two little daughters of his own - he does not wish to see these kids to get hurt in any way, but he can't sit at the door himself and say 'yah' or 'nah' to every single person. That is why he does hire the police. So, before lashing out at him, please know what I have said it true. And if you want further proof of it all, go and spend a night there - a busy night - and watch the cops, watch the bartenders, watch everyone.
