Police Department

What has happen to the Natchitoches Police Department. I know it has always been ' lacking "...but it has really gone "down hill".
No officers hardly at all...No policed cars roaming the city streets...

I sat in Walmart's parking lot and viewed 3 car's with out handicap tag's or plates in handicaped parking spot's .So I cell phoned the police.The dispatcher said they were on there way.25 min latter the car's were gone but still no police.DUH!!!!

maybe they have crime to fight instead of patroling a parking lot. unless you park in their private parking places at wal mart. look on the street they are looking for traffic law breakers

the problem with the city pd is that the pay is minimul compared to surrounding departments. it is basicly a place where someone can come and get there foot in the door and then move on to other departments that pay much better. the citizens shot down a vote to give officers a pay raise three years ago due to an article printed in the natchitoches times saying how much they made a year, which was completely false. in order to keep good officers that want to stay and make all of natchitoches a better place they have to be compensated for their contributions. now there are many great officers with the pd, but the man power just isn't there at this point for an officer to drop a high priority call to go write a parking ticket, even though it is a violation of the law there are other more serious issues with in the city.

Oh they definitely have crime to fight...they should do away with some of those public defenders gobbling the budget and hire more officers. Natchitoches is quickly becoming a high crime area...a little New Orleans if something isn't done.

i dont see the problem being the police department, i see it after the person is arrested. the prosecutor's puts most people arrested on da's probation. if there is no fear in having to go to jail and wait for someone to come up with bond money, what's going to stop someone from breaking the law. but everyone's quick to blame the one's on the front line risking there lives to keep natchitoches from falling into the pits of hell.

This is true .In a recent case of auto theft.The person was arested for 2 or 3 count's of auto theft .Stayed in jail for a small amount of time then the DA reduced his bond & let him go.Only to score more drug's the very same day he was released.

did you know his brother is the chief of police for the city of colfax?~!
if you know the right people, you can get away with just about anything. i can recall more than a few times where he was 'let off easy'

I didn't know his brother was in law enforcement.I knew he was kin to the x-chief of police thow.

I tell you what the Natchitoches City has been lacking. I know of a case in natch that happen Oct of 2005 and you would be toatally shocked on how this came out. This was a Murder too!

What is sad is they will let there best Police go.
Or as they call just quit where you are not fired. The ones that are dedicated to their jobs they dont wont. They want these Young kids that dont have knowledge and cant even buy there own ammonition for there guns. They have to get some of the older Policeman to get the bullets. Besides that they use the Blue suit to get chicks that is what a shame. If Natchitoches Residents was caring about whom was taking care of them they would start requesting them to hire back some of there Faithful and Policemen that has been gone in the last 5 years. Istead they have there own little pick there that keeps Natchiotoches in a mess. Natchiotches is going down fast. I know this for a fact what I am talking about. They got rid of an Oficer around the Katrina/Rita time that was Dedicated and trustful and loved being a Policeman. That guy was good on both sides of the River. He was trained by one of the Best ones there in My opinion Roy Lee. They run there best ones off cause when they get to know the CROOKEDNESS and dont go along with all the mess that is going on up there then they want them out and they will DO ANYTHING they have too to get them out. That is the biggest RUMOR MESSY place I cant blame them for leaving on any condition. Work for 9.00 Hour to loose there lives. It is not worth it at all. NO RESPECT FOR THEIR OFFICERS.

They really need to look at the past Officers that did a good job and bring them back. But that might too much for the Natchitoche Police Department too do.
We are just looking at the way Natchitoches is going down so fast. It is Trashy looking now. You cant even go to Walmart after dark or anywhere. Never know especially Southern Classic that is a NO NO after dark. This is bad. You are not Protected!!!!!!!!! Wake UP Natchitoches.

approximately 10 - 15 harley motorcycles were stoppoed on I-49 saturday afternoon. there were police and ambulances on the scene. does anyone have any info about this?

Roy Lee is not, was not and never will be the best police officer there. Sandoz was the best police officer they ever had.

They get paid enough for what they do. How much do you think they should be paid to ride around and talk to people. Their job is only moderatly dangerous. It's not more dangerous then working in an all night store, a bank, or even a fried chicken place. I've seen people killed in all these places.

Do you really want the police in wal mart parking lot because somebody is in the handicap space instead of out there watching what is going on on your street while you are in wal mart bitching about having to walk to the front door? Just do like 94% of the people in Natchitoches and park in the front door.

Southern Classic should be a safe place to be, how much fried chicken and little debbie snacks do you think Richard Robertson eats in 12 hours while policing the police and riding around looking for places to fish?
