NCHS will not start winning until you start at the top and have a trickle down effect. Im not saying the head coach is ALL of the problem but he is the coach so has must accept MOST of the blame (had he been winning he would be getting all the praise). Also when someone comes in and relieves some of the best coaches (no names mentioend) in that school of their duties, because certain people (no names mentioned) dont like that coach, he is destined to fail. I do not work at NCHS but I have seen plenty of games (just a fb fan) it is obvious that NCHS does not have the talent or speed to run the spread offense but they continue to use it (coaches fault). They only pratice in the afternoon 2-3 days a week and they dont hit. They have no TRUE offseason period and they have no TRUE athletic period (I believe athletics is 1st hour block, this is administrations fault). Also I am not a firm believer of the FB coach being the athletic director, which I believe is the case at NCHS. So until you start at the top and have do evaluations and a self check nothing will change.

<quoted text>You arewrong about the players not being 5A material. There are several players that are high quality players. I agree though, there are some that couldn't make it in 1A. There are also 5A quality players on 1A teams. The problem is, there are excellent players that are walking the halls that don't even try out. The don;t want to waste their time when the instructional level and work ethics are so bad. So tell me, since you are such an expert, what is the solution. So many say that it isn't the coaches or the administrations fault. Then what is it? Tell us, so that we can fix the problem.
Right you are Rover. Not only do we have the atheletes on the side lines to do it. There are also potentially great players walking the halls that will not play for a losing coach. They are there. The team need the coach that will bring it out of them and let it show.

We had plenty capable young men on the sidelines willing and able to step up when the defense couldn't get the job done but the A.D. wouldn't allow it because they weren't what he considered "athletes". Nevermind that they could have done no worse than his pet defensive players. When others that are not on the team see that kind of "leadership", they don't go out for football. Why should they waste their time to ride the bench or at least not get a chance. Happens every day.

I have attended/covered/photographed NCHS for the last couple of years and believe me when I say, Pierce is not the answer...good nor bad. He's ABSOLUTELY BLOWN some games (anyone remember going for two and not calling timeout when the Raiders were screaming FAKE FAKE and poor Taylor got his lunch served...should have ridden the momentum and taken that baby to OT at HOME!)anyways, I think the problem King David is realizing is that if we get rid of Pierce, who will step up and fill the role of all things complained about above? Remember, before they chose a defensive coordinator with NO OFFENSE in his mind, the chiefs were turned down by every single coach in the game...NO ONE wanted to deal with the School Board and the lack of suppport from the community.
Now, Pierce is responsible for his team and they totally imploded game after game, fighting EACH OTHER on the field, while the coach jogs off ...
someone wise up yonder said it is truly a pickle we're in - let's eat!

I think St. Marys started their offseason program back in January. Those boys are working out hard and already learning the playbook. They are gearing up for a great season. If any school wants to compete now, no matter the level, football has to be year around now.

Try telling that to the NCHS Head Football Coach. Can you say "clueless"?

Rumor has it that a petition to terminate the employment of the NCHS A.D./Head Football Coach has "hit the streets". I urge all to sign it. When I see it I certainly will.

I only hear of problems and not solutions. What good will happen if the central office does not change anyway? A bird in the hand beat the mythical two in the bush. We all better wakeup and realize that NCHS is not a great high profile job with all this bickering online, value is steadily decreasing from the program. I heard some good thing about those football players that run track from the meet yesterday. We have speed and now is the time to get them on the field.

So if we fire him who in their right mind would come here?

Sorry to see that you have the same tired excuses for not making a change. "If we fire (place position here) who in their right mind would want it?" "It's hopeless unless we change the (place target du jour here) blah blah blah."

Consider this, many of our track athletes as well as other sport's athletes, have gone out for football before only to ride the bench because they were not the head coach's "football players". They didn't play for him in Junior High or some other lame excuse.

You need to read some of the other threads concerning this problem and you will find that several posters have intelligently addressed exactly and in what order changes need to be made.

I have read them. My son is one of those track athletes and by no means is he one of the pets so I understand the frustration. I do not agree with the qualifiers that this coaching staff use to gauge athletes. See to me, you can’t measure the size of a young man heart and to me that should be the most important gauge. A little hint for any young coaches and young athletes out there “THE EYES ARE THE WINDOWS TO A MANS SOUL”, remember that young people. Well looks like I and the rest of us on here should have majored in coaching in college so we could rescue our school, but we didn’t so let support the boys; kind of like supporting the troops, but opposing the war.
I believe that people should be held accountable for their actions and inactions. We need to start addressing our problems in house and keep this family business off the internet. We will never attract a quality coach like this. Over the past year I have been in the company of a lot of different people around the state and they all want to know what is going on at NCHS. The exact line is “What has gone wrong at Natchitoches Central” or “I remember when Natchitoches Central was a powerhouse”. I agree that change needs to be made. The problem is that I do not see anyone saying that they are ready to run for office in the school board. Once that problem is corrected Natchitoches Central will flourish once again.

I HOPE, tell us why the AD should stay. If you were principal of NCHS, why would you hire him, what qualities do you think he brings to the job? What about his past performance do you think is worthy of mention?
(Forget the ranting about parents with kids who may or may not be on the team.... that's noise and not productive in the least.) Let's hear the positive.

If it were about my child then I would be as sorry as your are. As I've said before this is about the kids at NCHS. Oh wait, I see we have another sport (powerlifting) that not only competed in the playoffs but won state. The coach was named coach of the year in 5A. Imagine that, our athletes ARE talented. Too bad our head football "coach" hasn't a clue and still has supporters that don't either.

GO CHIEFS!!

School Board elections are about 18 months away. Still too early to solve that problem. Not too early to fire the Head Football Coach.
