Everyone in the parish has had a say in the system, except the teachers! This would not be tolerated in other parishes in the state.

Why don't we choose one day in the month of October or November to call a "sick out" to test our resolve. Of course, non-tentured teachers have to participate. We don't need 100% participation; just enough to shut down the system for a day. I think this will get the attention of all board members and the central office too!

Sorry

You go, Public! I, for one, will participate. I know a lot of other teachers that would too. We are sick and tired!! But, we would have to have a lot of participation. Some of the principals put lots of pressure on the teachers and they don't make a fuss about things. That's where the problem lies, as well.

Sorry damn teachers are a LOT of the problem. All you can do is blame students, parents and school board members for your own inability to teach. Get another job if you are so unhappy. Spoiled f?cking teachers tend to piss me off!

Since you tend to put modifiers in the wrong place and use constructions such as " a lot", you evidently weren't paying much attention to your "damn" teachers. You write like an eighth grader

Who taught you to read and write? We are not protesting the pay, the long hours, and the unapppreciated attitudes of people like you. We want to unite to improve a broken system that prevents students from learning and teachers from teaching. The old vanguard system that promotes teachers and administrators for clearly political reasons can no longer be tolerated. I, for one, am sick and tired of going to work everyday and watching a system going to hell in a handbasket! We want accountability in all ranks for the educational system. Why should a board composed of moslty non-educators dictate policy to an entire educational system? We want more say in how the system is run! Do you answer to a board of non-experts on your job? How long would an industry survive if it was run by this same system? I would like to see an opportunity for a vote of no confidence for our board members and the central office. Your attitude of love it or leave it is intolerable. If you love someting you are willing to make it better. Incompetence runs rampant while good teachers do nothing.

These principals are chosen and appointed by the very same superintendent and board that has driven us to frustration. A day of sick out will put even the principals on notice that they aren't in control of our schools. We the teachers who do the work are in control. Without our voice and efforts they are helpless.

Have you ever thought you may be the broken part? I'll answer, NO! Are you narrow minded? Probably. Just stick to teaching, those who can do, those who can't teach. By the way, there are four misspelled words in your post. Do you teach spelling? Probably.

I am all abaout change in the central office. I would hope that teachers would remember why they became teachers in the first place. I hope they did it to educate children. A strike or sick-out would only press the children and end up causing them some sort of problems. Like adding another day onto school at the ed of the year. Instead of calling a sick out or strike. Just continue to do the right thing when it relates to the students in the classroom. She will be gone in about 8 months. Remeber your obligation is to the students.

Just to show that I don't dislike all teachers, you are the exception. You must be a good teacher who places the job where it belongs, with the students. Maybe you could give merlyn a few lessons on what a good teacher does. Less than one month in, he is ready to strike and go along with a sick out.
