Actually, the roads I drive on were built long before the illegals flooded the construction business. I live on an organic farm, we have fruit trees, veggies, etc. and I do my own canning an make my own jelly and dry and freeze foods. In fact we have 3 freezers full. We have chickens, pigs and goats. We also have an abundance of deer, rabbit, dove and quail. Our neighbor across the street makes sausage and cures bacon and makes wine. We trade out and allow him to hunt over here.
I've been sewing since I was a child and have owned an alteration and upholstery shop. I have an abundance of denim, purchased when a local company that had been in this town for generations went out of business putting over 600 people out of work. They closed because the denim they made was for Levi Strauss and Strauss moved to Mexico.
I make jeans, overalls, jackets, etc.
The flour and cornmeal I use are milled locally and I bake my own bread and cakes. We also have a cotton gin here and many people who grow cotton.
I rarely buy anything that is not American made. So at least in my case, you can take your "you have to depend on illegal aliens" opinion and shove it!
Any homes for sale there?

Just because something is American made does not mean that it has never touched illegal hands so your argument is still pointless.

Education Gap
THE REALITIES OF EDUCATION IN LATIN AMERICA

Without a high-level education, Latin American children will continue to
lack the skills necessary for entering the workforce and participating in
the increasingly competitive global economy.

a.. 50 million people in Latin America cannot read or write.

b.. Latin Americans receive an average of six years of schooling, compared
to nine-and-a-half years in the OECD (Organization of Economic Cooperation
and Development) countries.

c.. Nearly one-third of children in primary school in Latin America repeat
a grade. The additional cost to the region's education systems has been
estimated at $4 billion per year.

d.. Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Peru rank behind Uganda, Zambia, Botswana
and Burundi in the quality of their math and science education.

e.. In Mexico, only 13% of adults receive a high school diploma versus 87%
of American adults.

f.. Over 50% of Mexican and Brazilian 15-year old youth are functionally
illiterate and thus unable to compete in today's economy.

CONTRIBUTORS TO LATIN AMERICA'S EDUCATION CRISIS

1. HIGH DROP-OUT RATE THROUGHOUT LATIN AMERICA

The heart of the problem is the drop-out rate -- children living in poverty
are not staying in school.

a.. 92% of Latin American children begin primary school, but only 32%
continue on to secondary school (the U.S. equivalant of middle/high school).
Even fewer ultimately graduate.

b.. Approximately 40 million children and adolescents in Latin America
drop out of school to live or work on the streets each year.

c.. It is estimated that 95% of children have access to school in Brazil,
but only 59% of them finish the eighth grade.

d.. It is well established that school dropouts have worse outcomes,
including in terms of mental health status, than do those youth who stay in
school.

2. INEQUALITY IN LATIN AMERICA

Unequal societies are less efficient at converting growth into poverty
reduction. In Latin America, the education gap mirrors the income gap
between rich and poor.

a.. Levels of inequality in Latin America are the highest in the world --
at least one in three households and two in five people live below the
poverty line.
a.. 220 million Latin Americans (about 44% of the region's population)
live on less than $2 per day. Over half of them are children.
a.. In Brazil, children in the bottom income quartile complete an average
of four years of school versus over ten years completed by children in the
top income quartile.

3. LATIN AMERICA'S EDUCATION SPENDING

Despite increases in past years, spending on elementary education is still
relatively low throughout the region.

a.. Per capita spending on primary education in Latin America still
averages only 15% of U.S. levels.
a.. Latin American universities, which serve less than 10% of the
population, receive a disproportionate share of education dollars compared
to primary education.(In Brazil, public universities have only 2% of all
pupils, but receive 25% of all federal education funds.

What does race have to do with illegal immigration?
Present-day countries of origin

In March of 2006 the Pew Hispanic Center (PHC) estimated the undocumented
population ranged from 11.5 to 12 million individuals[46], a number
supported by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO). Using data
from March of 2004, PHC estimated

Country of Origin Percent of all illegal immigrants
**Mexico 57%**
Central America (and to a lesser extent, South America) 24%
Asia 9%
Europe and Canada 6%
Other 4%

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the countries of
origin for the largest numbers of illegal immigrants are as follows:

Country of Origin Raw Number
**Mexico 5,970,000**
El Salvador 470,000
Guatamala 370,000
India 280,000
China 230,000

The Urban Institute, a research group in Washington, D.C., estimates
"between 65,000 and 75,000 undocumented Canadians currently live in the
United States."

Modes of entry

Modes of Entry for the Unauthorized Migrant Population

Category
Entered Legally with Inspection
a.. Non-Immigrant Visa Overstayers 4 to 5.5 Million
b.. Border Crossing Card Violators 250,000 to 500,000

Entered Illegally without Inspection
a.. Evaded the Immigration Inspectors and Border Patrol 6 to 7
Million

I do believe that most of the supporters of illegals have never had to live in a town that has been overcome by them. They are not polite misunderstood deprived people. They prey on over weight american women who are unhappy, get them pregnant, and slap them around when they feel like it. I too have stopped buying anything made in mexico. And alot of other american have as well. I just recently saw approx. 400+ cataloupes rott right in the display bin. Lets not forget that most of the e-coli out breaks traced back to crops handled by mexicans. The population of hispanics grows more and more because they dont believe in birth control. you wont see any of them here that dont have 3 or 4 and momma is pregnant again. My sister in law was told that her daughters had to learn spanish in a public school and if she didnt like it she needed to take them to a different school...at her expense.. I think all Americans who are tired of all this crap need to band together.

Not many. We have a population of under 1000 in a town with one red light. It is 10 miles one direction and 16 miles in the other to the next nearest town. We have a huge spring fed swimming pool lined with local rock, most of which came from our farm, and some beautiful historic homes. One of the homes was owned by a doctor who had an underground area built for treating wounded soldiers during the civil war. The one grocery store has been owned by the same family since 1832. They are still a friendly neighborhood grocer with their own butcher and a lot of local produce.
It's farming country and lots of cattle, horse, and chicken farms around. We have just leased some of our land to a man who will be grazing his cattle here.
It reminds me a lot of the town I grew up in. We do have a Dollar General, a post office, a bank, 3 service stations, 6 restaurants and several antique shops. There is an old hotel (hasn't been used as a hotel for several years) that the historical society has recently taken the siding off and underneath there is a log cabin originally built by the Cherokee.
I love it here and hope to spend the rest of my life here.

What the headline should have read is that SOME businesses in Tenn are for amnesty.

"The Nashville Music Association union, Tyson Foods and the National Pork Producers Council, with a local office in Rutherford County, all lobby for immigration reform that would raise the cap on worker visas. "

I can kind of understand Tyson Foods who was caught breaking our immigration laws themselves to smuggle in slave labor from Mexico and the pig farmers.

But what does the Nashville Music Association have to do with anything involving illegal aliens?

Anyway add all three of those special interest groups together and they still do not speak for the majority of the people in Tenneessee, Arizona or the nation.

This is a serious issue. We need to come together as one and get these illegals out of our country. We need to make all businesses held accountable for their business. Pay our American workers what they should be paid. These illegals destroy our welfare and healthcare systems. Traffic massive quantities of drugs. And you know the funny part if 30,000 Americans crossed over to Mexico and tried to get everything they get here. They would shot us down before we made it to social service department. We are too leniant with these people and maybe we might can get a job without having to speak Spanish. We need to rally just like they do. Start in arizona and move throughout the country.

Every one of your comments are all pointless. And it's very obvious you lack in brains. I highly doubt that you do any reading yourself because you're incapable of doing so. Therefore, you in all probability have someone else that can halfway read read it for you. Please do us all a favor and refrain from posting until you get an education in reading and have a legitimate point to make, Doofus.

Like I've already said on another thread about illegals, by providing them with welfare, foodstamps, housing and healthcare, our government is enabling all illegals to remain in the US illegally. They have no reason to become citizens. We, as Americans, sure as hellll can't invade Mexico's borders, make demands of any kind nor will Mexico provide us with all the economical amenities that the US provides the illegals with in this country. It's time all illegals' access to healthcare, foodstamps and welfare is cut off. Send them packing back to Mexico where they belong. Better yet, I have no problem whatsoever allowing them to serve in our military and fighting over in Iraq or Afghanistan. Once they do or once they give the ultimate sacrifice like my son did in Iraq a couple of years ago, they are given their US citizenship. My son didn't die for illegals......he died for AMERICAN citizens and to keep this country free from any type of invasion. Illegals have no reason to show any kind of loyalty to the US when they stage demonstrations making demands for things they are not entitled to and when they fly the US flag upside down. They need to stage demonstrations, make demands and fly the Mexican flag upside down in their own country. They aren't allowed to do there so therefore should certainly not be allowed to do it in this country either.

I agree 100% with your comment, dear.

You must really be in the dark about hispanics, they spend very little money here. they spend more money on alcohol ( at least the illegal ones ) than food. They send the majority of their money back to Mexico to their familys and to Border Cyotes to get their friends, or brothers back in to the united states. I know this for a fact. I have a niece who married one, no make that 2. the first one beat her every time he cheated on her, took all of her money and went back to mexico. The second one got her pregnant and she was so excited to have a baby she helped his steal brush to sell and his friends, lets him beat her cause thats his culture.
One correction, old son. Don't use the term "hispanics" in a general sense. There are a lot of American citizens whose families have been citizens for over 150 years, who happen to be of hispanic descent. They should not be lumped in with these foreign criminal parasites.
