Sympathy for this character is already at a very low ebb. This lawyer's whining is not going to help.

Surely Dr. Savoie would have know what to expect in a Japanese holding centre, before he got three large accomplices together to physically restrain a woman and bundle two terrified kids into a vehicle.

Well this did what they wanted, I guess. The hunger strike threat didn't get them to CNN but these torture accusations managed it.

I thought they hospitalized Chris briefly after they arrested him, yet now supposedly they aren't medicating him? If it's true, it's strange.

CNN tried to get this mess of a story right, and they came closer than before, but they didn't mention how Noriko vacationed in Japan and returned to the US, and then went back to Japan and didn't come back. CNN also didn't mention the divorce papers were served not to long after Noriko and the kids arrived in the US (next day?).

CNN also didn't mention the restraint/bruising accusations.

Senator James Webb wrote an interesting article about an American imprisoned in Japan for drug trafficking.

Is it being reported in Japan who the "helpers" were? We know about the Higgins guy but have never heard about the others. Are they being charged as well?

From CNN: "He acknowledged that some of the claims are based on second-hand information from Savoie's wife, Amy, saying she has communicated with people familiar with her husband's case."

Is the lawyer, Jeremy Morley, actually licensed to practice in Japan? I remember seeing another lawyer with a Japanese name in the news as representing Savoie.

I remember the days when I respected CNN for opening up the US to world news. Recently, they rate just above the tabloids on my list of real news sources.

Will CNN print an article about me as an interested party claiming that Savoie is a control freak and has an overwhelming need to control a woman based on the many conversations I have had with like-minded friends? I hope not ... Let's get some real news.

He eventually may need the rack, iron maiden, Chinese water torture, or Guantanamo style water-boarding; however, before that, I hope the Japanese authorities start gently and just pillory him in the Fukuoka public square. I want to get a good look at this scoundrel.

You can bet any and all interviews or statements by lawyer Morley will be twisted and spun to feed the media just what he wants. He is obviously slick but I think most can not take his words seriously on this case.

Are you talking about the lawyer, TADASHI YOSHINO ?

Regarding CNN,I agree with you. They conveniently omit some relevant
facts.

Rorschach's journal...
Foreign mother abducts children?
In small print... the father is also a Japanese Citizen. The children have lived most of their lives in Japan. The father handed divorce papers to the mother right after they moved to the U.S.
Hunger Strike, Torture? In small print... oh, but the information is coming from his current wife, Amy. Why is this all one-sided?
Yes, Chris Savoie will probably sell this story for millions, just like the octomom.
Journalism in America is dead...
We reward the wicked with money...
...and no one cares.
Last night, a comedian went on a hunger strike in Japan. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows.
The world will look up and shout "save us" and I'll whisper.......no.

This is outrageous and very disturbing that this is happening to this American children. These are his children he is not a stranger and now he was awarded full custody because his selfish mean ex wife took the children illegally. There is only one Congressman Chris Smith and he is on his way to Japan to help 2 parents. When are the other congressman going to do something to help. Liam Mccarty might be going back to his crazy mother next week Where is the New York Congressman going to help him? Congress better step up to the plate here and pass HR3240 for all these kidnapped children. Time for them to get off their bump and do something besides collect a fat paycheck and not do anything about this issue for 29 years.

Hope Not writes: "They ned to release him back to the USA."

The word here would be: "deport".

And that would happen AFTER they strip him of his Japanese citizenship, which he apparently took on false pretenses.(He would have had to vow to relinquinsh all other nationalities. Yet he still claims to be a US citizen, as well.)

I suspect he'll get a suspended sentence for the physical assault and then be deported as a "former" citizen and persona non grata.

Ask Amnesty International for further assistance if Christopher Savoie was literally tortured by Japanese authorities.

As a matter of fact, Japanese authorities can interrogate the suspect without the presence of his attorney. Christopher the law student & Japan expert should have known that better.

The bottom line is that Christopher Savoie truly believes himself as an innocent and justifies his course of action. Therefore, he won't cooperate with Japanese authorities. He won't show no sign of remorse.

Let's wait and see what happens next. Here he comes - Congressman Chris Smith to rescue Christopher Savoie? This would be Congressman's return match - he could not bring back a child from Brazil for David Goldman early this year.
I bet he would do anything to save HIS face by all means.

He has dual citizenship: US & Japan. Therefore, he is Japanese who shuld follow Japanese law in Japan.

Moreover, he obviously trapped the ex-wife. They have lived in Japan for long and recently moved to the U.S. Then, he forced her to divorce. He planned this evil plan!

He is tortured? He speaks Japanese VERY WELL. Why not complaining in Japanese language?

Christopher, truth will set you free.

In Japan, suspects hardly plead "not guilty" when they are clearly guilty. I'm often shocked to hear suspects with tons of evidence plead "not guilty" in the US, such as the Garridos (Jaycee Lee Dugard case). I don't think Japanese police will let him get away with "I didn't do anything wrong". So most likely they would ask questions and push him until he tells the truth. That might be, what he calls "tortures".

If you get caught smuggling drugs in China, you get death penalty, because that's the law there. You can't say "We don't do that in the US!", because you are not in the US. Stop whining, and deal with it like a big boy.
