I really don't know where to start. So many of you are clueless. METHADONE SAVED MY LIFE ! Long story short, I was addicted to strong pain killers from a severe injury in the army. I struggled with getting off the pain killers for years. I was just a few weeks from homeless. Then a friend suggested I look into methadone treatment. Yes I have been on methadone for approximately 6 1/2 years. Since on methadone treatment I have received excellent counseling and I have attended vocational job training. I purchased a home little over 4 years ago, 288,000.00. My home is paid down to 34 thousand dollars and change and I am capable of paying it off at anytime, albeit it will take most of my emergency cash. I live in the Springfield area. Here is my e-mail address is anyone doubts what I have said--send me an e-mail and I will give you directions to come see me and I will prove what I have said about how methadone has changed my life and show proof that my home is almost paid for, in 4 years. JAKEC1821@YAHOO.COM . Yes, methadone is a substitute for other narcotic drugs but I DO NOT GET HIGH OFF OF IT, it blocks effects of other drugs if you take them so there is no criminal activity. A bonus, since being on methadone drug treatment the horrible pain from my injusry in the army is gone without the high or drowsiness. So a plus plus. I just don't get how so many of you talk trash about something you really know nothing about!! Get your facts straight. I am on what's called phase 27. I attend counseling once a month and does in front of a nurse. I receive 27 take home doses as I have clean supervised urine screens for over 5 years and I comply with all the rules of the treatment center and the state of TN. Here is something that has come from the people that trash talk methadone--- there is something called DIVERSION CONTROL for people like myself that get take home doses. I am required twice a week to call the clinic after 4 p.m. and listen to a recording to see if I have to report the next day for a special un-announced inspection of my take homes to make sure I have'nt sold or consumed doese ahead of time and submit an additional supervised urines screen for testing. I'm glad to say I have never failed a diversion control either. As I am a financial software consultant that am able to work from home with my own consulting business diversion control is not too much a problem for me. On the other hand WHY should I have to submit to Diversion control. I do each and everything I am suppose to. I feel sorry for people that have job where they are paid by the hour and have to take the better part of a day off if they are on the diversion control. I have heard so many stories about how someone saying they might get fired for taking too long at the clinic. I ask you all that trash talk methadone treatment, which way do you want it-- someone bashing in your back door, crawling in a window looking for drugs at your home OR seeking methadone treatment trying to better their lives. You don't just goto the clinic for a fix and leave. There are counseling, drug urine screens, doctor evaluations, on and on. If you don't comply , they kick you off the program !!! Again, if anyone doubts that methadone has been and is a blessing and has saved my life and allowed me to go on to learn a wonderful skill and work a profession that has allowed me to buy a home that will be paid for by the end of this year.( actually anytime as stated above) contact me if you doubt I will give you directions, we can meet and I will show you proof !! JAKEC1821@yahoo.com jakec1821 at yah00 d0t c0m Thank you Jacob

jacob, I totally agree with you. I have nerve damage in my feet and hands, The pain was so unbearable until I was put on methadone several years ago.
I have NEVER sold. "lost" or NEVER onetime use ANY excuss to try and get my prescription before time. It helps keep my blood pressure down, in turns makes my whole life better.
Most people who has a medical reason for having to take the pain pill hates having to take it, but to be able to function have to have it.
People who doesn't live with sever pain has NO ideal what they are talking about. As we all know there are cases as in ANYTHING where some people just abuse it. Some just want to get "high", why I will NEVER understand that.

heard that wrote: <quoted text>typical. hey you were not an addict at one time. you made the choice! genes or no genes, ANYONE who takes excess of these drugs for a period of time becomes an addict. i do not pity your bad choices, nor do i endorse coddling you to obtain more drugs to "treat" your addiction. "CLEAN" means NO drugs!!!!! Do you realize that not all diabetics were always diabetics? Most of them have it because it's genetic BUT most of them also made the CHOICE to not eat healthily or exercise like they should. So by your logic, we should stop treating diabetics and just make them get "clean". What an ignorant post.

murfreesboro wrote: moving the methadone clinic to this area will just bring all of the lovely drug addicts all to the same spot. so much for a family oriented area. that is no place for a methadone clinic. it needs to be near the police dept or a hospital, not in a shopping center. what kind of idiot thought of that spot. maybe we should just put it in a daycare. that would be safe. it is the perfect place methodone is a perfectly legal drug and its the idiots that think it brings all the bad people all to the same place when in reality it brings all the former drug addicts who need somewhere to go or they will get sick and then go in that very same neighborhood and rob your stores or break into your house and steal your things so when you go to bed tonight pray to god they now have a place to go instead of robbing you,oh the next point puttin in the ghetto would just make these former addicts want to score drugs instead btw methodone works its been fine tuned for 70 years its a wonderful drug that doesnt impair you or effect judgement it just gets rid of the itch to do drugs learn up before you speak you are pretty ignorant

I apologize, I am one of the ignorant people on this thread. Not intentionally of course but I always thought the same way as some of these posters on here did. Why? My sons friend has been in and out of rehab for heroin. He drives 46 miles a day Monday thru Friday to get his dose.(Saturday & Sunday his parents dole it out) The reason I assumed these clinics were a joke were, he goes home everyday and tries to find anything in the house to take with that methadone to get high.
I only wish he could use it in the appropriate way. He is breaking his parents hearts everyday. He has stole from them, lied to them and threatened to hurt them.
I am glad to see a few people have had success with the methadone treatment. I will continue to hope for the best for the young man I know.

Yes, this is one of the biggest problems, but how do you control somebody from taking other narcotics with their mdone dose? Mdone is a life saver for those that truly want to get help, for those that just want a high, mdone will lead you down the worst path, possibly death. Mdone will not give a person a buzz if they really need it, the folks that do not, get a buzz for a day to a week and then must increase their dose to obtain the same high. Most of the clinic doctors will not take a person higher than 90 to 100mlg anymore, so what does one do?, mix their dose with a benzo, become hooked, or die. They do give drug tests at these places, but they are very easy to beat.
