Could I jump in here and just ask the question of who believes this Kevin Hailey is innocent. I have just recently read of this story, I cant really tell if those of you who know him or knew of him think he actually committed the crime, I have also read that this is the 2nd TRIPLE MURDER for the Buttes'family within the last 20 years. I also heard as to the previous posting that there was a pubic hair of a certain ethnic group. I dont know, never met Gerri and I've never met Kevin, but it seems like (from what I have read here) is 1. Gerri dealt drugs 2. Gerri liked having sex with more than one person, and of no particular race. I'm by no means judging anyone, just curious about this case and thought I would jump in and ask

I'm beginning to believe he could well be a innocent man.

Why would these people be so dead set on convicting this man when there are black people they should also be checking DNA on?

Think they didn't have the evidence for 16 yr's.
Then a no evidence keeping county comes up with a tee shirt that has DNA.
BS.
I've dealt with the corrupt county. I will testify to how they hide evidence and cover up.
They could well have planted that evidence in 16 yr's time.
You have to remember that they have one incompetent law officer working the case.

and when I say that, that is not to be a smart aleck, but I've read over and over that this is a small town and I even read the trial transcripts from Kathy (whats her name) KH's mother that the younger son was actually the one to do the crime for the time that Kevin is doing now. This brother even set the mother up over the phone. Got a conviction also..... But after HOW MANY YEARS? First suicide, then murder? Then the 2nd set of triple murders in Gerri's family. I keep having to remind myself that this all didnt happen last week but 18-20 years ago?????

You bet!!
Not to leave out the fact that the Both son's should be in the pen.
Also not to leave out the fact that the county is taking the chance of bankruptsy just for one case.

Leaving out the many other's.
Why because they have already said they don't care and have spent too much time and money on the other's.

In a complaint the other day I brought up Sheriff Estes and his lack of doing his job.
I pointed out the words Estes had to say.
" What do you expect me to do? It was another administration".
The what I believe to be a real law officer said.
Well what does that have to do with doing his job?

wheres the other son, surely they would like for him to be around, but then wouldnt he have to answer for the situation with his brother. Right? It seems from whan Ive read, Ii might have been him instead of KH, But didnt he split to be unheard of for a while now? Was there not another brother?... and I am sorry for your loss. It will be a year on June 30th since my daughter passed away. so I can understand where your coming from. It sucks, I know.....

I'm sorry for your loss also. I will not ask the cause.
As you can see. These people aren't out for justice.
They have an agenda.
One for their friend.
Some believe that to loose a friend is the same as to loose a child.

It isn't ok for a county sheriff to slam his chair against the wall and say he didn't care.

It isn't right for the person they have to be in office as Sheriff.

Every law officer and attorney I've spoken with has told me Sam Rich could have been charged and convicted for the death of Steven.

Yet there was a incompetent DA.
There was a child molester for a death investigater.
One who only had 15 hours of death training.
It looks like I'm about to file another Open Records.

Corruption runs deep.
Corruption is the little every day punk cop all the way to the president.

That is corruption.
A person can win each and every thing about their case and still not win.

Why? Because the people are corrupt.
The towns are small.
Even Texarkana.
I went to school with the DA who can't keep his pants up any better than the every day cop.

and she did not sleep with any one of a diffrent race than her own. in the 11 years i knew gerri she sleep with and only with macky dees
daddy. once that relationship broke up for good gerri slept with no one until she met kevin.

There was another brother but he over dosed on meth and they called it a heart attack.
Chad was in trouble for a list of things that is why he set his mother up to get a lighter sentence.There were witnesses to the fact he stabbed the guy that Kevin is serving time for.Not very credible but there were a few.I never understood why he isn't serving time along with his mother because he was also involved with the murder of his stepdad.But we are talking about Cass County ,Texas.

By no means am I judging Gerri or Kevin. I do not know either one. I started reading this story because I am opposed to the death penalty and because I live in Texas , you know as well as I, Texas is not opposed to the death penalty. I am a firm believer that a person can do what they want in life if their willing to pay the consequences for those actions. When I read that they have gone after Kevin 2-3 times in the past, have no-billed, now they indicted. To me that just really screams that just maybe something is not right with this. Again I do not know Kevin, but my feeling is that there is no hard evidence to prove he's the one. You know. When it takes almost 20 years, thats reaching. Who and what and how Gerri lived is not judged by me. Like I said I just do not support putting people to death, thats just another form of murder. However with this story, I am just intrigued as to the past things that have happened and with the future of just what will happen... it seems like most of Kevin's issues are questionable. Most of what I have read question his guilt...Chad supposedly was there, had been in trouble/parole and so Kevin took the rap...of course who the hell would've thought 87 years. Kind of harsh in my opinion. again though, I dont know Kevin, just through the internet....... and just because a person may have sex with a different race, religion or whatever is no reason to die, nor for her 2 babies... so please understand I'm not judging just trying to get a feel of the truth... there are a lot of opinions to sort.

The book I read says "an eye for an eye".
I respect those who do not believe the same as I do but what makes it right for a killer to murder any one espeically two little girls and have the previlege to go live the rest of their lives off us law abiding citizens that pay taxes?
They are allowed an education,some thing these little girls and many others did not have a chance to do.They get to watch T.V.,have visitors,eat 3 meals a day,how is that punishment?
I hope Kevin doesn't die if they don't have evidence,but if it turns out they do,should he be allowed a life how ever it may be behind bars after taking the lives of 3 people?Where is the justice in that?
I my self have always questioned if they have the right person knowing it could of been a number of people.Kathy could of had some one do it,she has always been mentally unstable and she got away with murder herself for over a year.There's alot to question but I do hope they are not just trying to close this case and letting the real killer or killers go free.

There was a habes Corpus hearing where the DA Birmingham stood up and said "I'm sorry your honor I'm on the wrong side" so that shows you Gerri had no one fighting for her or her girls. He is now indicted over new evidence which will come up as DNA testing and such progress. If you want to know what happens keep hanging around and you will find out like eveyone else after the trial.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I as well am entitled to mine. I do not even know where Cass County is.I know no one from there, including Kevin. I do not know if he is guilty or if he is not- and I am in no way SAYING he is guilty or innocent. My posting started off ASKING you guys what you thought. Unlike ya'll I have not had all these years in dealing with this case. Unlike you all again,(at least it sounds like) I am in NO WAY personally involved in it. I see where Gerri was some of you all's friend. I even see to where some believe Kevin might not have committed this crime, and that he might not even have stabbed the guy in Louisiana, that possibly it was his brother Chad (again of who I have never met.) that stabbed the guy. In my belief I believe eventually we all have to answer for ourselves. What I am totally sure of, is that I am not that person. Like I said from the very beginning- you guys know both parties. I was just curious in your thoughts and your opinions- EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT THE SAME AS MINE.... I have only had one baby my whole life- on June 30th will be one year since she passed away. Having someone die will not help with the pain in my heart. NONE, AT ALL!!!!! And what if down the road we find out the person who paid, wasnt even the person who was convicted. Now, one thing that interests me about this whole situatio in Cass Co. is that Lady Justice doesnt visit there often. Forgive me if you get offended about me saying something about Cass. For al of you who know the deceased as well as the living, I hope the final decision no matter the outcome, helps to overcome. Another thing that interests me is that it was what 18-20 years ago and it still matters to you. Thats pretty remarkable. But no, I really do not know these people.
