I was on the jury for Nicosia's first trial,Hope for Justice, so the biases you speak of are unfounded.The State did not come close to proving Nicosia's guilt and with most of the jury never even hearing of Gus Nicosia and his girls, there was no bias. There was no talk of lawyers not being paid; even so, that has nothing to do with a verdict so the latter you hear of as being true is rumor.

What are you talking about, Riveter, about "Gus and his girls..." I know you heard about Gus and his female soccer players on his team. I was in the courtroom at times, too.

The lawyers not getting paid "rumor" happened after the trial, not during. I never said it had anything to do with the verdict.

And the part where he incriminated himself during taped phone conversations...I am not even going to go there.

I just have one question that has really been bothering me. How can a jury find him guilty of obstruction of justice charges (the jury must believe, then, that he was trying to hide something), yet not guilty of those charges he was trying to obstruct? How does that work?

On the day you reported the jury findings, the city associated with your name was listed as Glen Ellyn. How is it that you served on a Will County jury, then?

And therein, Hope for Justice, lies yet further proof that factual assertions by anonymous posters such as yourself, riveter, et al. have no credibility and should be ignored - or better yet not made at all.

(Btw, from what I can tell, the location indicated for posts is automatically set based on where the computer is located when you post something. I suppose someone from Will County could use a computer in Glen Ellyn, or is there some prohibition against that? I know I live in Naperville, and yet I presume THIS post will say Chicago - though if I posted it tonight it would say Naperville. Go figure.)

This is a BLOG, which means opinions are offered freely. Blogs are not restricted to facts, by nature.

I do appreciate the education regarding how locations are posted or determined. I did not know.

Hope, as I keep saying - opinions and facts are two different things. I have not complained about expressing opinions. I HAVE complained about anonymous assertions of fact.

You thinking Gus is a dirtbag is an opinion. Fine. Whether I agree or not, I have no problem with you saying that here, openly or anonymously.

You trying to support your opinion by asserting certain "facts" (e.g., he did not pay his attorney) is not so fine, in my opinion, if it is done anonymously. Did his attorney tell you that? Or did you hear it from someone who said they heard it from someone who would know? Worse still, given the protection of anonymity, did you just make it up to make your opinion look better? I've seen it done. In fact, I did it fairly obviously on this line of posts just to make the point (see my posts about 53-55 here - one from "A Friend" - me - between 2 of my earlier posts).

The garbage which is asserted to be true on BLOGs but which is not true is legion, but once thrown out there it is accepted by others who should know better but never do. Perhaps I can't get people to stop anonymously asserting things to be true, but I hope I can at least perhaps get some people to recognize that facts asserted to be true by anonymous people should NEVER be given any credence, no matter how much they might enjoy gossip.
