Too much attention has been given to the blown-out-of-proportion, misdirected remark of Councilman Rod Tam .

Ms. Chen...McCain will over turn Roe v. Wade since Bush II is running out of time, and has to find those two books that will FILL his Library. McCain divorced his 1st wife to marry a wealthy woman 30 years his youth. He's a predator and his "Straight Talk Express" will take America stright to hell.
McCain is pandering to the right, but he himself, confused and disoriented, is making his age a non-issue. Good luck.

Ms. Uran has great suggestions to fight back on oil dependency. At the very least, one will maintain independence and dignity.

The people in China and India will thank you. Other than that, your plan is pretty much worthless.

"Unity in the Democratic Party is imperative"

What you really mean is no matter who the DNC runs vote for them like the sheeple you are...right?

You would think by now the DNC would realize they can't just run anyone and have the masses vote for them. Obama has a ton of flaws himself and actually, his views are similar to McCain's on a large number of topics. McCain geting Roe overturned? It is NOT going to happen period. Using that as a scare tactic is just wrong...and if you are going to vote against someone for their stance on ONE ISSUE then you are doing the country and yourself a disservice.

Almost half the Democrats who voted in the primaries wanted Clinton...they did NOT want Obama or their would have voted for him...they now need to decide to switch to Obama or McCain or..NOT VOTE AT ALL...and it is their choice. Hopefully someone will present a stronger arguement to vote for Obama than you did, yours fell on deaf ears.

Yo Chen..!
News Alert!!! Roe V wade IS a flawed decision!!!! ANYTIME you take the life of a human being and then call it "legal" is F-L-A-W-E-D..it will only be a matter of time before someone (maybe Mccain) with a sense of dignity (something you OBVIOUSLY lack) will overturn it..so..get over it!!!!

Those who insist on thinking that rail is good for Oahu because it is good elswehere in the mainland or other places in the globe do not understand and just can't seem to comprehend that Oahu has a small tax base and just can never afford to spend billions and billions for rail transit. Rail means the demise of Oahu taxpayers. It is absolutely wrong to even think that rail transit will help give relief to traffic. Can't those who post pro-rail not see and comprehend that rail transit will cost billions and billions and Oahu has only a small tax base and so can not afford rail transit?

I've got a suggestion for Consumers can Fight Back Against Big Oil. To many it may be extreme, but we all know that if a statement is to be made, sometimes extreme measures are in order.

Everone in the United States stay home on the same day or two during the work week. Call in sick, take a vacation day, whatever it takes. No one drive or ride or travel.

See what sort of impact this would have. I'd bet these big oil people and their government crony counterparts would be scrambling to figure out what to do and how to keep things afloat.

people are blind by this so called mass transit, folks its NOT mass transit in Hawaii we will barely have a small percentage of people able to use it and it will only serve a small part of the island. So call it what it is a very expensive train for a few riders that will not reduce traffic.

Just a little note to correct a

the changes it is the people who
are activily involved in the
process working with Mr. Obama

Yah, that balanced budget, ADA complaint act, apoology resoltuion and Family leave act were really a step back into the Dark ages! Oh wait, they were actually a sign of our civilization progressing! Too bad we haven't made any progress the past eight years, huh?

The tourists make up part of the tax base for rail (30 percent)and when they are part of the equation,w e have more than enough people to afford rail. If the GET had been raised by one erpcent, and/or the state stopepd horiding ten percent, we would be talking about doing a full airport spur and going to Manoa right now!

Still misinforming, eh "Kailua Resident"?

Clinton's "balancing the budget" was a myth and "The Apology Resolution" was a farce since we apologized for something we didn't do.

But then again, the Left are professionals when it comes to misinformation.

Hate to rain on your parade,Joel, but you left out one thing. Rail built by hard working, fast paced workers in a 1st world country is different from a bunch of fat indolent union slobs trying to make a choo choo track in a 3rd world banana republic like Hawaii....give it up, rail will never succeed here. Japan's rail system is indeed a model to aspire to, but in comparing the two environments you are comparing apples to oranges.

Old argument. You guys are ridiculous to say that about the Supreme Court. You all used your scare tactics when positions were being filled, and has that happened???? My point exactly. Is that all you hone in on? Like Clinton and ALL the previous Presidents didn't appoint justices of THEIR choice? Where was your outrage then? Exactly. Appointed justices should be upholding the Constitution AS IT WAS WRITTEN, not what they think it means. That is what is wrong with Liberal thought when it comnes to this very issue.
